  3. Configure whether each number receives calls, SMS alerts, or both.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Arming and Disarming

  • Arm (Away Mode): Activates all sensors. Use when leaving the premises. Can be done via the panel, remote control, or mobile app.
  • Home Arm (Stay Mode): Activates perimeter sensors (e.g., door/window sensors) while allowing movement within the property (e.g., ignoring motion sensors). Can be done via the panel, remote control, or mobile app.
  • Disarm: Deactivates the alarm system. Can be done via the panel (using password/RFID), remote control, or mobile app.

6.2 Mobile App Control

The Tuya Smart/Smart Life app provides full control over your alarm system from anywhere:

  • Arm/Disarm the system.
  • Receive real-time alarm notifications.
  • View event history and logs.
  • Manage sensors and accessories.
  • Set up schedules for arming/disarming.
  • Integrate with IP cameras for live view and recording.

6.3 Voice Control (Alexa/Google Assistant)

To enable voice control, link your Tuya Smart/Smart Life account with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant through their respective apps. Once linked, you can use commands such as:

7. Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: Regularly check the battery status of wireless sensors via the mobile app. Replace batteries promptly when indicated. Door sensors typically use common coin cell batteries (e.g., CR2032 or similar, check individual sensor specifications).
  • Cleaning: Clean the alarm panel and sensors with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app periodically for firmware updates for the alarm panel. Keep the system updated for optimal performance and security.
  • Signal Strength: Ensure all sensors maintain good signal strength with the alarm panel. Relocate sensors or the panel if signal issues occur.

8. Troubleshooting

  • System not connecting to Wi-Fi:
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The system does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
    • Check Wi-Fi password accuracy.
    • Move the alarm panel closer to the Wi-Fi router.
  • 4G/SIM card not working:
    • Verify the SIM card is correctly inserted and activated.
    • Check if the SIM card has sufficient balance or data.
    • Ensure 4G signal is available in the installation area.
  • Sensors not pairing:
    • Ensure the alarm panel is in pairing mode.
    • Check sensor battery levels.
    • Move sensors closer to the panel during pairing.
  • False alarms:
    • Check sensor placement; avoid direct sunlight or heat sources for PIR sensors.
    • Ensure pet-immune sensors are correctly installed if you have pets (e.g., 15kg pet immune).
    • Verify door/window sensors are properly aligned and securely attached.
  • No alarm notifications on phone:
    • Check app notification settings on your phone and within the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app.
    • Ensure the alarm panel has internet connectivity (Wi-Fi or 4G).
    • Verify alarm phone numbers are correctly set up.

9. User Tips

  • SIM Card Usage: While the system supports 4G, it can also function with Wi-Fi only for app control and alerts. The SIM card is primarily for SMS and direct phone calls in case of alarm or if Wi-Fi is unavailable.
  • Battery Life: To maximize battery life for wireless sensors, ensure they are placed in areas with good signal strength to avoid excessive power consumption from re-transmissions.
  • Pet Immunity: If using pet-immune motion sensors, ensure they are installed at the recommended height and orientation to effectively ignore pets up to 15kg.
  • Regular Testing: Periodically test your alarm system and all connected sensors to ensure they are functioning correctly.
