5. Specifications

Note on Frequency Range: The UV-17 Pro L version supports 136-174MHz, 200-260MHz, and 400-480MHz. Other versions (GD, HD) may have slightly different frequency capabilities. Please refer to the specific model version for exact details.

6. Setup

6.1. Battery Installation

1. Align the battery pack with the back of the radio.
2. Slide the battery pack into place until it clicks securely.
3. Use the provided screwdriver to tighten the battery tightening screw (15) for better sealing and waterproofing.

6.2. Antenna Attachment

Screw the antenna (1) clockwise onto the connector on top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

6.3. Charging the Battery

The UV-17 Pro supports two charging methods:

• Type-C Direct Charging: Connect the Type-C USB charger cable to the Type-C charging port (14) on the radio. You can charge it from a power bank, laptop, or car charger. The Type-C charging indicator (16) will show charging status.
• Base Charger: Place the radio into the base charger. Ensure the charging contacts align. The indicator on the base charger will show the charging status.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1. Power On/Off and Volume

Rotate the Power/Volume knob (7) clockwise to turn on the radio and increase volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and turn off the radio.

7.2. Display Modes

The 1.77-inch color LCD (8) offers two display modes: frequency mode and channel mode. You can switch between these modes to suit your communication needs. All function menus, such as VOX, FM, and CT, are displayed on the screen.

7.3. Wireless Frequency Copying

This feature allows you to quickly copy frequencies from another walkie talkie, regardless of brand, for seamless communication.

1. Step 1: Power on your walkie talkie and press the 'SEEK' button (represented by the icon on the keypad). The display will show "SEARCH".
2. Step 2: Press and hold the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button on the other walkie talkie to transmit its frequency. While the UV-17 Pro searches for this frequency, press the 'MENU' key (5) to confirm the frequency once found.
3. Step 3: Switch to channel mode. The display will now show the other person's frequency, and you can begin communicating.

7.4. LED Flashlight

The integrated LED flashlight (17) provides strong illumination. Press the Flashlight/Emergency Alert key (2) to activate the flashlight. It can be used as a powerful light source in dark environments.

7.5. NOAA Weather Stations

The UV-17 Pro can receive broadcasts from 10 NOAA Weather Stations, providing timely hazard weather alerts. This feature helps you prepare for changing weather conditions.

7.6. VOX Function

The VOX (Voice Operated Exchange) function allows for hands-free operation. When activated, the radio will transmit automatically when it detects your voice, without needing to press the PTT button. Adjust VOX sensitivity via the menu.

7.7. FM Radio

The radio includes an FM broadcast function. Press the FM Broadcast/Monitor key (4) to switch to FM radio mode. You can listen to FM broadcasts while monitoring your primary communication channel.
