1. Introduction
The Genmitsu CFL55 Compressed Spot Laser Module is a high-performance laser upgrade designed for precision engraving and cutting. Featuring an ultra-fine 0.1mm*0.1mm laser spot and 5.5W optical power, it offers enhanced capabilities for detailed work on a variety of materials. This manual provides essential information for safe and effective use of your laser module.

2. Safety Information
DANGER: LASER RADIATION. AVOID EYE OR SKIN EXPOSURE TO DIRECT OR SCATTERED RADIATION.
- Always wear appropriate laser safety goggles (OD4+) when operating the laser module.
- Ensure the work area is well-ventilated to dissipate fumes and smoke generated during engraving/cutting.
- Never leave the laser module unattended during operation.
- Keep flammable materials away from the laser's path.
- The integrated laser shield on the module is designed to filter most UV light and protect against laser beam reflection. However, additional eye protection is mandatory.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the laser module.

3. Setup and Installation
This laser module is designed for specific Genmitsu and Jinsoku machines. Ensure your machine is powered off and disconnected from the power source before installation.
- Mounting: Attach the laser module to your machine's spindle or designated laser mount.
- Adapter Plates:
- For Jinsoku LE-1620 Laser Engraver and Jinsoku LC-60A Laser Engraver & Cutter, use the provided adapter plates.
- For Genmitsu PROVerXL 4030 & 4040-PRO CNC Router, use the adapter plate that came with your 4030 package. No additional adapter plate is supplied with this laser module for these models.
- Electrical Connection: Connect the laser module to your machine's control board using the XH2.54-3Pin terminal. The pinout is: a: PWM +, b: GND, c: 12VDC.
- Air Assist Connection: If using the stock air assist nozzle, connect an air pump (not included) to the nozzle's inlet for improved cutting performance and lens protection.

4. Operating Instructions
The CFL55 module is capable of both engraving and cutting. Always perform test runs on scrap material to determine optimal power and speed settings for your specific material.
- Software Setup: Use compatible laser control software (e.g., LightBurn, LaserGRBL) to prepare your design and configure laser settings.
- Focusing: The module features a fixed focus design with a focal length of 30mm. Ensure your material is positioned at this distance from the laser lens for optimal performance.
- Material Placement: Place your material securely on the workbed. Ensure it is flat and stable.
- Start Operation: Initiate the engraving or cutting process through your control software. Monitor the process closely.
- Air Assist: For cutting and to achieve cleaner engravings, activate the air assist system. This helps clear debris and smoke, preventing charring and protecting the lens.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your laser module.
- Lens Cleaning: Periodically clean the laser lens with a soft, lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol. Ensure no dust or debris accumulates on the lens, as this can affect laser performance and lifespan.
- Air Assist Nozzle: Keep the air assist nozzle clear of any blockages.
- Cooling Fins: Ensure the cooling fins on the module are free from dust and debris to maintain efficient heat dissipation.
- Connections: Regularly check all electrical connections to ensure they are secure.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your laser module, consider the following common problems and solutions:
- No Laser Output: Check power connections, ensure the module is correctly seated, and verify software settings (laser enabled, power set above zero).
- Weak Engraving/Cutting: Ensure the material is at the correct focal distance (30mm). Clean the laser lens. Increase laser power or reduce speed in your software.
- Inconsistent Results: Check for loose mechanical components on your machine. Ensure the material is held firmly and not moving during operation. Verify software settings for consistency.
- Overheating: Ensure the cooling fan on the module is operating correctly and that the cooling fins are clean. Operate within recommended duty cycles.

8. Compatibility
The Genmitsu CFL55 Compressed Spot Laser Module is compatible with the following machines:
- Genmitsu PROVerXL 4030 CNC Router
- Genmitsu PROVerXL 4040-PRO CNC Router
- Jinsoku LE-1620 Laser Engraver
- Jinsoku LC-60A Laser Engraver & Cutter

9. User Tips
- For cutting thicker materials like 4mm plywood, multiple passes at lower power settings can yield cleaner cuts than a single high-power pass.
- Experiment with different air assist pressures. Higher pressure can help with cutting and reduce charring, but too much can affect fine engraving details.
- Always ensure your work surface is level to maintain consistent focus across the entire engraving/cutting area.
