3. Setup

3.1 Wiring Instructions

Follow these steps to correctly wire your WLED Digital Strip Controller:

  1. Connect the LED strip to the output terminals. Ensure correct polarity (V+, D, G, V).
  2. Connect the power supply (DC 5-24V) to the input terminals (V+, V-).
  3. The group of 'D' for GPIO2 is the default output. Please use this group first.
  4. The other group of 'D' is GPIO5, which can be used after configuration on the APP.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your WLED Digital Strip Controller, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Keep the controller in a dry environment, away from moisture and extreme temperatures.
  • Clean the exterior of the controller with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the controller to prevent overheating.
  • Regularly check wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from damage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your WLED Digital Strip Controller, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
LED strip not lighting up.
  • Incorrect wiring (polarity, data line).
  • No power to the controller.
  • Faulty LED strip.
  • Incorrect IC quantity setting in APP.
  • Check all wiring connections for correct polarity and secure fit.
  • Verify power supply is connected and providing correct voltage (5-24V).
  • Test the LED strip with another controller if possible.
  • Ensure the correct number of ICs is configured in the WLED APP.
Controller not connecting to WiFi.
  • Incorrect WiFi password.
  • Out of range of WiFi signal.
  • Incorrect "WLED-AP" password during initial setup.
  • Double-check your home WiFi password.
  • Move the controller closer to your WiFi router.
  • Ensure you are using "wled1234" for the "WLED-AP" network.
  • Try resetting the controller (if a reset option is available, typically a long press or power cycle).
Effects are not displaying correctly or are glitchy.
  • Insufficient power supply for the number of LEDs.
  • Data line interference.
  • Incorrect LED strip type selected in APP.
  • Ensure your power supply can handle the total current draw of your LED strip (Max. 10A for the controller). Consider increasing power supply if needed.
  • Use shielded data cables or keep data lines away from power lines.
  • Verify the correct LED strip type (e.g., WS2812B, SK6812) is selected in the WLED APP settings.

8. User Tips

  • Power Supply: Always ensure your power supply is adequate for the length and density of your LED strip. The controller supports a maximum load power of 240W. If your LED strip requires more, you may need to use multiple power injection points or a more powerful supply.
  • IC Quantity: Pay close attention to the maximum IC quantity (800 Max.) and ensure your LED strip's IC count does not exceed this to prevent overloading the controller.
  • APP Features: Explore the WLED APP's advanced features like segment control and user presets to fully customize your lighting experience.
