1. Introduction

The ORICO M3U7 is a high-performance 7-port USB 3.2 Gen1 hub designed to expand the connectivity of your computer or laptop. Featuring a durable aluminum alloy casing and offering data transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps, this hub provides a convenient and efficient solution for connecting multiple USB devices. It is compatible with a wide range of operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.

The hub connects to a laptop via a USB-C cable and provides multiple USB-A ports for peripherals, including a phone being charged.

2. Package Contents

Please check the package for the following items:

  • USB-C to USB-C Data Cable (0.5m or 1m, depending on model)
  • USB-A Adapter (for connecting to USB-A ports)

3. Setup Instructions

The ORICO M3U7 USB Hub is designed for plug-and-play functionality, requiring no driver installation for most operating systems.

3.1 Connecting the Hub to Your Computer

  1. Identify an available USB-C port on your computer (laptop, desktop, tablet, etc.).
  2. Connect the provided USB-C to USB-C data cable to the USB-C Transmission interface on the ORICO M3U7 hub.
  3. Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to your computer's USB-C port.
  4. If your computer only has USB-A ports, attach the provided USB-A adapter to the USB-C end of the data cable, then plug it into a USB-A port on your computer.
  5. The hub is now ready for use.

3.2 Powering the Hub (Optional)

For stable operation with multiple high-power consumption devices (e.g., external hard drives, multiple charging devices), it is recommended to connect an external power supply.

  1. Connect a 5V 3A power adapter (not included) to the USB-C power input interface on the ORICO M3U7 hub.
  2. This provides additional power to ensure all connected devices function optimally.

4. Operating the Hub

Once connected, the ORICO M3U7 hub functions as a multi-port extension for your computer.

4.1 Connecting USB Devices

Simply plug your USB devices (e.g., flash drives, mouse, keyboard, camera, card readers, printers, webcams, external hard drives) into any of the 7 available USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports on the hub.

The hub supports a broad range of USB devices, including storage, input devices, and peripherals, and is compatible with Type-C devices when connected to a Type-C host.

4.2 Data Transfer

The hub supports USB 3.2 Gen1 standard, providing super-speed data transfer rates of up to 5Gbps. This allows for rapid transfer of large files, such as HD movies, in seconds. It is backward compatible with USB 2.0 (480Mbps), USB 1.1, and USB 1.0 devices.

4.3 High-Power Charging

The ORICO M3U7 supports 18W high-power charging, providing strong and fast charging for notebooks, tablets, and mobile phones when the optional external power supply is connected. For example, a Huawei P10 can be fully charged within approximately 110 minutes, and a Xiaomi 9 within approximately 67 minutes (data obtained from ORICO 211 Digital R&D and Manufacturing Lab, for model M3U7Q1 only, for reference).

The hub can provide fast charging for various devices, with example charging times for specific phone models.

5. Maintenance and Care

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your ORICO M3U7 USB Hub, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the hub. Avoid using liquid cleaners or aerosols, as they may damage the device.
  • Storage: Store the hub in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Handling: The aluminum alloy shell provides durability and heat dissipation. Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to strong impacts.
  • Connectivity: Ensure cables are inserted and removed gently to prevent damage to the ports.

  • Slow Data Transfer:
    • Ensure both the hub and the connected device support USB 3.2 Gen1 (or USB 3.0) for optimal speeds. Older USB 2.0 devices will operate at their native slower speeds.
    • Avoid connecting too many high-bandwidth devices simultaneously.
    • Ensure your computer's USB port also supports USB 3.2 Gen1.
  • Charging Issues:
    • Verify that an external 5V 3A power supply is connected to the hub for charging.
    • Check the charging cable and the device being charged.
