MicroZone 2.4GHz S-FHSS RC Receiver Instruction Manual

Models: MC6RE, MC7RB, MC9002, MC8RE, MC9008S, Mini M-SBUS

Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the MicroZone series of 2.4GHz S-FHSS receivers, including models MC6RE, MC7RB, MC9002, MC8RE, MC9008S, and Mini M-SBUS. These receivers are designed for use with compatible MicroZone transmitters in various remote-controlled models such as fixed-wing aircraft, UAVs, and helicopters. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating your receiver to ensure safe and optimal performance.

Product Overview

The MicroZone receiver lineup offers a range of options with varying channel counts and features to suit different applications. All receivers operate on the 2.4GHz S-FHSS system, ensuring reliable communication with compatible MicroZone transmitters.

Setup

1. Receiver Installation

Install the receiver in your model, ensuring it is securely mounted and protected from vibrations and moisture. Position antennas away from metal objects and other electronic components to maximize signal reception. For receivers with dual antennas (e.g., MC9002, MC9008S), ensure they are oriented at a 90-degree angle to each other for optimal signal diversity.

2. Connecting Servos and ESCs

Connect your servos, Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs), and other components to the appropriate channels on the receiver. Refer to the specifications section for the channel output configuration of your specific receiver model (PWM and/or SBUS).

3. Binding Process (Frequency Matching)

To establish communication between your MicroZone transmitter and receiver, a binding process is required. This is often referred to as 'contact frequency matching'.

  1. Ensure your transmitter is powered off.
  2. Connect a bind plug (if required by your specific receiver model, or follow the receiver's instructions) to the BIND port on the receiver.
  3. Power on the receiver. The LED indicator on the receiver should start flashing, indicating it is in binding mode.
  4. While holding the BIND button on your MicroZone transmitter (refer to your transmitter's manual for exact location), power on the transmitter.
  5. The LED on the receiver should turn solid, indicating a successful bind.
  6. Release the BIND button on the transmitter, then power off both the receiver and transmitter.
  7. Remove the bind plug from the receiver.
  8. Power on the transmitter first, then the receiver, to confirm the bind is successful and controls are responsive.

Operating Instructions

Once the receiver is successfully bound to your transmitter, ensure all connections are secure before operation. Always power on your transmitter first, then your model's receiver. When powering down, always power off the receiver first, then the transmitter.

  • Channel Output: The receivers provide PWM signals for individual servo/ESC control and/or SBUS signals for single-wire digital communication with flight controllers. Refer to the specifications for your model's output type.
  • Voltage Range: Ensure your power source (e.g., battery) provides voltage within the specified range for your receiver model to prevent damage.
  • Receiving Distance: Operate your model within the specified receiving distance to maintain reliable control.
  • Out of Control Protection (Fail-Safe): Some receivers (e.g., MC9008S) support out-of-control protection. Configure fail-safe settings on your transmitter to ensure a safe response (e.g., throttle to idle, control surfaces neutral) in case of signal loss.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliability of your MicroZone receiver.

  • Keep Clean: Regularly clean the receiver and its connectors to prevent dust and debris buildup. Use a soft, dry brush or compressed air.
  • Avoid Moisture: Protect the receiver from water and excessive humidity. If exposed to moisture, disconnect power immediately and allow it to dry completely before reuse.
  • Antenna Care: Do not cut, bend sharply, or damage the receiver antennas. Ensure they are positioned correctly and not obstructed.
  • Storage: Store the receiver in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.

Troubleshooting

  • No Signal/No Control:
    • Ensure the receiver is correctly bound to the transmitter. Repeat the binding process if necessary.
    • Check all power connections to the receiver and ensure the battery is charged.
    • Verify that the transmitter is powered on and operating on the correct frequency mode.
    • Inspect receiver antennas for damage or obstruction.
  • Intermittent Signal Loss:
    • Check for sources of interference (e.g., other 2.4GHz devices, metal objects near antennas).
    • Ensure antennas are properly positioned and not shielded.
    • Verify the receiving distance is not exceeded.
  • Servos Not Responding Correctly:
    • Check servo connections to the correct receiver channels.
    • Ensure servos are not damaged or jammed.
    • Verify transmitter settings for channel assignments and endpoints.
  • Receiver LED Status:
    • A solid LED typically indicates a successful bind and active signal.
    • A flashing LED usually indicates binding mode or no signal from the transmitter.

User Tips

  • Antenna Placement: Always ensure your receiver antennas are positioned as far apart as possible and away from carbon fiber or metal parts of your model to prevent signal shadowing and maximize range.
  • Power Supply: Use a stable and appropriately rated power supply (BEC or separate receiver battery) to avoid voltage drops that can lead to receiver brownouts and loss of control.
  • Pre-Flight Checks: Before each flight, perform a range check and verify that all control surfaces and motor responses are correct and in the proper direction.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the MicroZone official website periodically for any available firmware updates for your receiver or transmitter, as these can improve performance and add features.
