Setup
Charging the Trimmer
Before first use, fully charge the trimmer. The LED display will indicate the battery level.
- Connect the USB charging cable to the trimmer's charging port.
- Plug the other end of the USB cable into a compatible USB power source (e.g., computer, laptop, USB wall adapter, power bank).
- The LED display will show the charging progress. A full charge takes approximately 3 hours.
- Once fully charged, disconnect the trimmer from the power source.
Attaching Guide Combs
The VGR V-685 comes with 8 guide combs for various cutting lengths.
- Ensure the trimmer is switched off.
- Select the desired guide comb based on the cutting length you wish to achieve. The combs are labeled with their respective lengths (1.5mm, 3mm, 4.5mm, 6mm, 10mm, 13mm, 16mm, 19mm).
- Align the guide comb with the trimmer blade and push it firmly until it clicks into place.
- To remove, gently pull the comb away from the blade.
Operating Instructions
Turning On/Off
Locate the On/Off switch on the side of the trimmer (refer to Figure 2).
- To turn on: Slide the switch upwards.
- To turn off: Slide the switch downwards.
Adjusting Cutting Length
The VGR V-685 offers two methods for adjusting cutting length:
- Taper Lever: The taper lever on the side of the trimmer allows for fine adjustments of the blade length from 0.8mm to 2.0mm without a guide comb. Move the lever up for a shorter cut and down for a longer cut.
- Guide Combs: For longer and consistent cutting lengths, attach one of the 8 provided guide combs (1.5mm to 19mm).
Hair Cutting Tips
- Ensure hair is clean and dry for best results, especially for dry haircuts. The trimmer can also be used for wet haircuts.
- Start with a longer guide comb and gradually switch to shorter ones if needed.
- Hold the trimmer with the blade teeth pointing upwards and move it against the direction of hair growth.
- Use smooth, even strokes.
- For detailing and outlining, remove the guide comb and use the taper lever for precise adjustments.
Maintenance

Cleaning the Blades
- Ensure the trimmer is switched off and unplugged.
