-
Data Transfer: For optimal 10Gbps speeds, ensure both your host device and the connected peripheral support USB 3.2 Gen 2. The hub will automatically negotiate the highest possible speed with connected devices.
Figure 10: High-speed data transfer capabilities.
- Power Delivery: The dedicated power supply port ensures stable power for all connected devices, especially crucial for external hard drives or charging devices. If you experience unstable connections with high-power devices, ensure the external power adapter is connected.
- Hot-Swapping: The hub supports hot-swapping, meaning you can connect and disconnect devices without needing to restart your computer or the hub.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the surface of the hub. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
- Storage: When not in use, store the hub in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Cable Care: Avoid bending or twisting the connecting cables excessively to prevent damage.
- Port Protection: Keep the USB ports free from dust and debris. Consider using port covers if the hub is stored for extended periods.
7. Troubleshooting
-
Device Not Recognized:
- Ensure the hub is securely connected to your computer's USB port.
- Try connecting the device directly to your computer to verify if the device itself is functioning correctly.
- If using a power-intensive device, ensure the external power adapter is connected to the hub.
- Try connecting the hub to a different USB port on your computer.
-
Slow Data Transfer Speeds:
- Verify that both your computer's USB port and the connected device support USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) or USB 3.0 (5Gbps). Connecting to a USB 2.0 port will limit speeds to 480Mbps.
- Ensure the connecting cable is rated for high-speed data transfer.
- Avoid connecting too many high-bandwidth devices simultaneously if not using external power.
-
Intermittent Connections:
- Ensure all cables are firmly connected.
- If connecting multiple high-power devices, ensure the external power adapter is used and provides sufficient power.
- Avoid placing the hub near sources of strong electromagnetic interference.
