1. Introduction

The GTMEDIA V8 Finder2 is a portable DVB Satellite Finder Meter designed for quick and accurate installation and alignment of satellite dishes. It supports DVB-S/DVB-S2 standards, offering full HD 1080P live digital picture and sound on its 3.5-inch LCD color screen. 4. Product Overview

The GTMEDIA V8 Finder2 features a compact design with a 3.5-inch LCD screen and a comprehensive keypad for easy navigation and control.

4.1 Front Panel

The front panel includes the 3.5-inch LCD display, navigation buttons (OK, directional arrows), and a numeric keypad. Dedicated buttons for MENU, REC, SUBT, TEXT, AUDIO, and EXIT are also present. Status LEDs indicate Power, 22K, 13V/18V, Lock, and Charge.

4.4 Rear Panel

The rear panel contains the product label with detailed specifications such as input frequency, input impedance, input voltage, battery information, and manufacturing details.

5. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your GTMEDIA V8 Finder2:

  1. Charge the Device: Before first use, fully charge the internal 4000mA Lithium-ion battery using the provided USB cable and a compatible power adapter. The charge LED indicator will show charging status.
  2. Connect LNB: Connect the LNB cable from your satellite dish to the 'LNB IN' port on the top of the V8 Finder2.
  3. Power On: Flip the power switch on the top panel to turn on the device.
  4. Initial Settings: Upon startup, navigate through the initial setup menu using the directional buttons. You may need to set the language, AV settings (PAL/NTSC), and local time.
  5. Install Satellites: Go to the 'Installation' menu to select or add satellites. The device comes with pre-loaded satellite lists.

6. Operating Instructions

The V8 Finder2 offers various functions to assist in satellite dish alignment and signal analysis.

6.1 Menu Navigation

Use the directional buttons and the 'OK' button to navigate through the menus. The 'EXIT' button returns to the previous screen or the main menu.

6.2 Satellite Installation and Signal Finding

  1. From the main menu, select 'Installation'.
  2. Choose 'Satellite' to view or edit satellite parameters.
  3. Select the desired satellite from the list.
  4. Navigate to 'Spectrum' to view the satellite spectrum, which helps in identifying signal peaks.
  5. Use 'Loop Search' to perform a scan for transponders and channels.
  6. The 'Calculate' function assists in determining the correct Azimuth and Elevation angles based on your location and selected satellite.
  7. Adjust your satellite dish until the signal strength and quality indicators on the screen are maximized. The device will provide sound and light alarms when a signal is locked.

6.3 Channel Management

In the 'Channel' menu, you can access the TV Channel List, Radio Channel List, EPG (Electronic Program Guide), Timer Settings, Favorite channels, and options to delete channels.

6.4 Media Playback

The 'Media' menu allows you to play Music, view Pictures, and watch Movies. It also includes a Record Manager and HDD Information/Configuration options.

6.5 Tools and System Settings

The 'Tools' menu provides access to Information (Model, SN, H/W Version, S/W Version), Factory Settings, USB Upgrade, and USB Backup. The 'System' menu allows you to configure Language, AV Settings, Local Time Setting, OSD Setting, WiFi Manager, and Online Movie App.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge it regularly, even if not in use for extended periods.
  • Software Updates: Periodically check for software updates via the manufacturer's website or official forums. Updates can improve performance and add new features.
  • Protection: Consider using a protective carrying case to prevent damage during transport and storage.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Signal/Weak Signal:
    • Check all cable connections, especially the LNB IN.
    • Ensure the LNB is correctly powered (13V/18V LED should be on).
    • Verify the selected satellite and transponder settings are correct.
    • Adjust the dish alignment slowly and precisely while monitoring the signal strength and quality on the meter.
  • Device Not Turning On:
    • Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the charger and check the charge indicator.
    • Verify the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
  • Screen Frozen/Unresponsive:
    • Try restarting the device by turning it off and on again.
    • If the issue persists, perform a factory reset via the 'Tools' menu (note: this will erase custom settings).
  • Software Update Failure:
    • Ensure the USB drive is formatted correctly (FAT32) and the update file is placed in the root directory.
    • Do not power off the device during the update process.
