2. Compatibility

This AWESAFE Car Radio is compatible with the following BMW models and years, specifically those equipped with the NBT System:

  • BMW 2 Series F23: 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016

Important Compatibility Check:

Before installation, please ensure your car meets the following criteria:

  • Your car must have an "OFF" button.
  • The LVDS interface on the back of your original screen must be a 6-pin connector.

4. Installation

The AWESAFE radio's power cable is designed for pin-to-pin connection, allowing direct connection to the car's power interface for easy installation.

4.2. Rear Camera Connection

To connect the rear camera:

  • Connect the camera's red cable to the brown cable.
  • Connect the camera's yellow port to the yellow port on the main unit.
  • Do NOT connect the camera cable to the backup light.

5. Operation

5.1. System Switching

The device allows you to freely switch between the original car system and the Android system, retaining all functions of the original car.

5.2. Original Car Information Display

The system retains and displays essential original car information, including speed, engine speed, remaining fuel, temperature, parking brake status, seat belt reminders, and door switch display.

5.3. Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto

Connect your iOS or Android smartphone wirelessly to access navigation, music, messages, and voice control features, minimizing distractions while driving.

5.4. GPS Navigation

The unit supports various navigation systems and maps, including Google Maps, NAVITEL, and WAZE. It comes with a built-in offline map and provides real-time roadway information and accurate directions.

5.6. AI Voice Control

5.7. Split Screen Function

7. Troubleshooting

7.1. Original Car System Not Displaying

If your original car system does not display after installation:

  1. Go to "Model Information".
  2. Select "Factory Head Unit Parameter Setting".
  3. Choose "Original menu Resolution adjustment (automatic)".
  4. The system will display "Successful". Click "Confirm" and restart the device.

Note: If your car has a CCC system, click on the CCC resolution option instead.

7.2. No Sound in Android System

If you experience no sound from the Android system, ensure that the original fiber optic cable is properly connected to the Android power line of the car.

7.3. iDrive Controller Compatibility

The iDrive controller's functionality is fully reserved. It can still control the original car system and also navigate the application programs on the Android system's main interface.

8. User Tips

  • GPS Time Synchronization: For the device to update the time correctly, it needs to successfully search for satellites the first time it's used.
  • Memory Usage: Be aware that the system and preinstalled applications will consume a portion of the internal memory. For example, installing a Russia map may take about 3GB, while a Europe map may take about 7GB.

9. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your AWESAFE Car Radio, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the screen and exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Software Updates: Periodically check for and install software updates to ensure you have the latest features and bug fixes.
  • Environmental Conditions: Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or excessive moisture.
