4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
- Wipe the device body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- For the lens, use a specialized lens cleaning cloth and solution to avoid scratching.
4.2 Storage
- Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- If storing for an extended period, ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) and recharge it every few months to maintain battery health.
4.3 Battery Care
- Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
- Do not expose the battery to high temperatures.
- If the battery shows signs of damage or swelling, discontinue use immediately and contact support.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Device Not Turning On
- Ensure the battery is sufficiently charged. Connect the device to a charger and wait for a few minutes before attempting to power on again.
- If the device still does not turn on, try a different USB cable and power source.
5.2 Unclear or Distorted Thermal Images
- Check if the lens is clean. Dust or smudges can affect image quality.
- Ensure the target object is within the optimal measurement distance (e.g., best measuring distance is 50cm).
- Verify that the emissivity setting is appropriate for the material being inspected.
5.3 Inaccurate Temperature Readings
- Confirm the emissivity setting matches the material of the object being measured. Different materials have different emissivities.
- Ensure there are no obstructions or reflective surfaces between the camera and the target.
- Allow the camera to stabilize to the ambient temperature if it has been moved from a significantly different environment.

7. User Tips
- Detecting Water Leaks and Floor Heating Pipes: While the UTI120S is not a direct water leak detector, it excels at identifying temperature anomalies. Water leaks or active floor heating pipes will create distinct temperature patterns on surfaces. By observing these thermal differences, you can infer the presence and location of such elements. Look for colder spots where water might be seeping or warmer lines indicating heating pipes beneath the surface.
- Emissivity Adjustment: For the most accurate temperature readings, always adjust the emissivity setting to match the material you are inspecting. Highly reflective surfaces (like polished metals) have low emissivity, while matte, non-metallic surfaces have high emissivity. Refer to common emissivity tables for guidance.
- Optimal Distance: For precise measurements, maintain an optimal distance from the target, typically around 50cm, as indicated in the specifications.
