4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation (Transmitter)
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the FS-i6 transmitter.
- Insert four (4) 1.5V AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4.2 Binding the Receiver
The binding process links your transmitter to a specific receiver, preventing interference from other radio systems.
- Ensure the transmitter is powered off.
- Connect the bind plug to the B/VCC port on the receiver.
- Apply power to the receiver (e.g., via an ESC or separate battery). The receiver's LED should flash rapidly.
- While holding down the "Bind" button (or "Code Keys" as labeled in Figure 1) on the transmitter, power on the transmitter.
- The transmitter's LCD should indicate "Binding..." or similar.
- Once the receiver's LED stops flashing and remains solid, the binding is complete.
- Release the bind button on the transmitter, then power off both the receiver and transmitter.
- Remove the bind plug from the receiver.
- Power on the transmitter first, then the receiver. The receiver's LED should be solid, indicating a successful connection.
4.3 Receiver Connection
Connect your servos, Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs), and other components to the appropriate channels on the receiver (CH1-CH6). Refer to your model's specific wiring diagram for correct connections.

4.4 Stick Mode Configuration
The FS-i6 transmitter supports different stick modes, primarily Mode 1 (throttle on right) and Mode 2 (throttle on left). The default configuration is typically Mode 2. You can usually switch modes via the transmitter's settings menu or by physically adjusting the gimbals (refer to advanced manual for details).

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Powering On/Off
- To power on: Ensure batteries are installed, then slide the POWER switch to the ON position.
- To power off: Slide the POWER switch to the OFF position. Always power off the receiver after the transmitter.
5.2 Basic Controls
- Joysticks: Control the primary movements of your RC model. The specific functions depend on the configured stick mode (e.g., throttle, aileron, elevator, rudder).
- Trim Levers: Use these to fine-tune the neutral position of your control surfaces if the model drifts when joysticks are centered.
- Switches (A, B, C, D): These are typically programmable for functions like landing gear, flaps, flight modes, or other auxiliary controls. Refer to the transmitter's menu for assignment.
5.3 LCD Display and Menu Navigation

The backlit LCD screen provides real-time data and access to various settings. Use the Up/Down buttons to navigate through menu options, the Enter key to select, and the Cancel key to go back or exit.
The display can show information such as:
- Current model selected
- Transmitter voltage (TX.V)
- Receiver voltage (if telemetry is enabled and receiver supports it)
- Channel outputs
- System settings
5.4 Low Voltage Warning
The transmitter will issue a warning when its battery voltage drops below 4.2V. It is crucial to land your model immediately and replace the batteries to avoid loss of control.
6. Advanced Features (AFHDS2A System)
The Flysky FS-i6 utilizes the Automatic Frequency Hopping Digital System 2A (AFHDS2A), offering enhanced reliability and performance:
- Frequency Hopping: Operates in the 2.405 to 2.475GHz range, divided into 142 independent channels. Each radio system uses 16 different channels and 160 different hopping algorithms to minimize interference.
- High Gain Antenna: Equipped with a high-quality multi-directional antenna covering the entire frequency band, ensuring stable and long-range transmission.
- Unique ID Binding: Each transmitter has a unique ID. Once bound, the receiver saves this ID and only accepts data from that specific transmitter, significantly increasing interference immunity and safety.
- Low Power Consumption: Uses low-power electronic components and a sensitive receiver chip. RF modulation employs intermittent signals to further reduce power consumption.
- Automatic Communication Mode Switching: The AFHDS2A system can automatically switch between single-way and two-way communication modes based on operational needs.
- Error Correction: Built-in multiple channel coding and error-correction mechanisms improve communication stability, reduce error rates, and extend the reliable transmission distance.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the transmitter and receiver. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries from the transmitter if storing for extended periods.
- Antenna Care: Avoid bending or damaging the antennas on both the transmitter and receiver.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Flysky website for available firmware updates for your FS-i6 transmitter to ensure optimal performance and access to new features. The transmitter supports online updates.
8. Troubleshooting
- No Power to Transmitter:
- Check battery installation and ensure batteries are fresh. Verify the power switch is in the ON position.
- Receiver Not Responding:
- Ensure the receiver is correctly bound to the transmitter. Re-perform the binding process if necessary.
- Check power supply to the receiver.
- Verify all connections between the receiver and model components are secure.
- Ensure the transmitter is powered on first, then the receiver.
- Intermittent Control/Signal Loss:
- Check for potential sources of 2.4GHz interference in the operating area.
- Ensure transmitter and receiver antennas are positioned correctly and not obstructed.
- Verify transmitter batteries are not low (check LCD display).
- Model Drifts/Controls are Off-Center:
- Use the trim levers on the transmitter to adjust the neutral positions of the joysticks. Perform a calibration if available in the transmitter's menu.
9. User Tips
- Mode Selection: A user asked about Mode 1 vs Mode 2. The product is typically set to Mode 2 (throttle on left) by default. If you prefer Mode 1 (throttle on right), you may need to adjust settings in the transmitter menu or physically modify the gimbals. Consult the full manual for detailed instructions on changing stick modes.
- Receiver Compatibility: The FS-iA6 and FS-iA6B receivers are compatible with a range of Flysky transmitters including FS-i10, FS-i6, FS-i4, FS-GT2F, FS-GT2E, and FS-GT2B.
- Range: While the system is designed for long-range, always perform a range check before flying, especially with a new model or setup.
