Introduction

Thank you for choosing the KVM Switches. This guide is designed to familiarize you with the layout of the switches and describes how to deploy them in your network. NOTE:

  1. The number of RJ45 to VGA Interface Modules for KVM-080217IP/KVM-080219IP is 8, and that of KVM-160217IP/KVM-160219IP is 16.
  2. The number of KVM cables for KVM-080119 is 8, and that of KVM-160119 is 16.
  3. The accessories may vary from illustration, please prevail in kind.

NOTE: This power cord cannot be used with other devices, and other power cords should not be used with this device.

Hardware Overview

LED OSD Controls

Button Description
AUTO/EXIT current menu and return to the previous menu or exit the LED OSD, or enter the automatic configuration.
SL-/SL+ Press to move your menu and make the corresponding adjustment.
MENU SELECT Press to invoke the menu function and open the main menu.
LED State Description
Power Green on.
Red Power off or access the non-standard VESA signal.
Blinking Green The KVM is in energy-saving mode or there is no signal.

Reset Press [1] and [2] at the same time for three seconds to reset the keyboard and mouse.
Scan Press [7] and [8] at the same time for three seconds to enter the auto scan mode.

  • Press [3] for three seconds to enter the brightness adjusting mode.
  • 33 are flashing on the LED tube.
  • Then press [5] or [6]to adjust.
  • Press [3] to exit or wait for five seconds and it will auto-exit.

KVM-080119/ KVM-160119 1~8/16
  • Switch freely from port 1 to port 8/16.
  • Press [1] and [2] at the same time to reset the KVM.
  • Press [7] and [8] at the same time to switch to the next stage level.
LEDs Indicator LEDs are built into the switches, the online LED light is on the left and the selected LED light is on the right.
  • Anonline LED light (green) indicates that the KVM has been connected to its corresponding computer and powered on.
  • A selected LED light (orange) indicates that the computer attached to its corresponding port is up and running.
Station ID / Display the current port.

Installation Requirements

  • Do not operate it in an area that exceeds an ambient temperature of 40°C (for KVM-080217IP/KVM-160217IP)/50°C (for KVM-080219IP/KVM-160219IP/ KVM-080119/KVM-160119).
  • Do not operate it near heat sources.
  • The installation site should be well-ventilated.
  • Make sure that the KVM switch is level and stable to avoid any hazardous conditions.
  • Do not install the equipment in a dusty environment.
  • The installation site must be free from leaking or dripping water, heavy dew, and humidity.

Mounting the KVM Switch

  1. Secure the KVM switch to the rack with screws and cage nuts. FS-KVM-Switch-8-Port-Cat5-1U-Rack-Mount-KVM-Over-IP-Switch-image (15)
  2. Slide the rear mounting brackets into the switch’s side mounting brackets from the back to the front, then screw the rear mounting brackets to the rack.

Grounding the Switch FS-KVM-Switch-8-Port-Cat5-1U-Rack-Mount-KVM-Over-IP-Switch-image (16)

  1. Connect one end of the grounding wire to a proper earth ground, such as the rack in which the KVM switch is mounted.
  2. Secure the grounding lug to the grounding point on the KVM switch with the washers and the screw.

Connection to device

Connecting to the RJ45 Ports

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the RJ45 port of the KVM switch.
  2. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the RJ45 port of the supplied RJ45 to the VGA interface module and then connect the VGA port of the module to a server or computer.

Connecting to the LAN Port

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the RJ45 port of a server or computer.
  2. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the LAN port of the switch.

Connect the KVM to the external keyboard, mouse and monitor (optional).

Connecting to the Console Ports

Connect the monitor, USB or PS/2 keyboard and mouse to the console ports on the KVM switch (optional).

Connecting to the Cascade Port

  1. Plug the yellow port of a daisy chaining cable into the yellow “Daisy-chain in” DB 15 port on the KVM switch.
  2. Plug the other blue port of the daisy chaining cable into the blue “CONSOLE” DB 15 port on the KVM switch.

Connecting the Power FS-KVM-Switch-8-Port-Cat5-1U-Rack-Mount-KVM-Over-IP-Switch-image (22)

  1. Plug the AC power cord into the power port on the KVM switch.
  2. Connect the other end of the power cord to an AC power source.

WARNING: Do not install the power cord while the power is on.

Opening & Closing the Console

  1. Unlock the release catch.
    NOTE: The release catch is locked horizontally, and it can’t bear any load.

  2. Pull the LED panel all the way out until it clicks into place.
  3. Open the LED panel to display the LED screen. The LED panel can be rotated up to 108°.

Closing the Console

  1. Close the LED panel and the power automatically turns off.
  2. Push the LED panel in until it automatically locks up.

Local Control

KVM-080217IP/KVM-160217IP/KVM-080219IP/KVM-160219IP can be set with their keyboards and LED screens; KVM-080119 and KVM-160119 can be set with their own keyboard and LED screen, as well as the external keyboard, mouse and monitor connected to the console ports of the KVM switch.

  • Step 1: Release the lock, pull the KVM console from the server rack and open the screen.
  • Step 2: There will be two “beeps” after the KVM is powered on. The ONLINE LEDs on the front panel keep green flashing and an UI window appears for you to input the username and password.

Remote Control

NOTE

  1. Since Win11 disables Internet Explorer, the series is only available for Win 1 O and the previous versions.
  2. You can choose to purchase KVM-IPC for remote access in Win11 or other operating systems, for the product is not restricted by the operating system or browser.
  • Step 1: The remote control setting is worked through the computer connected to the LAN port of the KVM back panel.
  • Step 2: Open the IE browser, and click top-right settings-> [Internet Options].
  • Step 3: Click [Security]-> [Custom Level].
  • Step 4: Find [ActiveX controls and plug ins], and choose [Enable].
  • Step 5: Click [Advanced], find [Allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid] and select it.
  • Step 6: If you want to set another IP address, please enter Local [System Setting]-> [Network Setting].
    NOTE: Please remember the IP address for the remote control.
  • Step 7: Open an explorer, enter 192.168.1.167 and the interface shows below:
    Username: admin
    Password: admin

After logging in for the first time, a prompt for “loading the ActiveX” will appear below the browser. Click “Allow” to bring up the “Download Video Plug in” dialog box. Click “OK” to use the video plug in.

NOTE: For security, please change the password after the first login. Passwords are case-sensitive.
