1. When I turn the volume up om my xtreme 2 it completely cuts out. Is this normal?

Brian asks When I turn the volume up om my xtreme 2 it completely cuts out. Is this normal?
Manuals+ clarified question
Question

Why does my JBL Xtreme 2 cut out when I turn the volume up?

Answer

No, it is not normal for the JBL Xtreme 2 to cut out when the volume is increased. This behavior typically indicates one of the following issues:

• Battery Health: If the battery is old or degraded, it may not be able to provide the necessary peak current required to drive the speakers at high volumes, causing the unit to shut down or cut audio.
• Power Supply: Ensure you are using the original 19V 3A power adapter. If the speaker works fine while plugged in but cuts out on battery, the battery likely needs replacement.
• Firmware Issue: Use the JBL Connect app to check for and install any available firmware updates, as these can sometimes resolve power management bugs.
• Hardware Protection: The speaker may be entering a protection mode if it detects a short circuit or overheating at high output levels.

If the problem persists after a full charge and a firmware update, you may need to contact JBL support for a hardware repair or battery replacement.

2. My unit is completely dead. I tried to charge it for 3 hours, it still will not come on and nothing lights up.

Ernest M. Clemons Sr. asks My unit is completely dead. I tried to charge it for 3 hours, it still will not come on and nothing lights up.
Manuals+ clarified question
Question

Why is my JBL Xtreme 2 not turning on or showing any lights after charging for 3 hours?

Answer

If your JBL Xtreme 2 is completely unresponsive and showing no LED activity after a 3-hour charge, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

• Check the Power Supply: Ensure you are using the original 19V 3A power adapter. Verify that the wall outlet is working and that the cable is securely connected to the speaker's DC input behind the waterproof cap.
• Perform a Hardware Reset: While the unit is unplugged, press and hold the Volume Up (+) and Play/Pause (|> ) buttons simultaneously for about 10-30 seconds. This can sometimes force the internal controller to reboot.
• Check for Charging Indicators: When plugged in, the LED battery indicators at the bottom should blink. If they do not, the battery or the charging port may be defective.
• Battery Maintenance: The manual notes that if the speaker is not used for a long period, the battery should be recharged at least once every 3 months to prevent it from falling into a deep discharge state.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, the battery or internal power circuit may have failed, and the unit may require professional service or replacement.

3. can i play my ipod through a cable connection to the usb port, or that usb is charge device batteries

FRANK PARPARCEN asks can i play my ipod through a cable connection to the usb port, or that usb is charge device batteries
Manuals+ clarified question
Question

Can I play music from my iPod through the USB port on the JBL Xtreme 2, or is it only for charging?

Answer

The USB port on the JBL Xtreme 2 is designed solely for charging external devices (USB charge out: 5V / 2A maximum). It does not support audio playback or data transfer from an iPod or other media players via a USB cable.

To play music from your iPod through the speaker, you have two options:

• Bluetooth: Connect wirelessly if your iPod supports Bluetooth.
• AUX Input: Use a 3.5mm audio cable to connect your iPod's headphone jack to the AUX IN port located under the waterproof cover on the back of the speaker.

5. My jbl xtreme 2 does not charge what should I do

Johnson Jr asks My jbl xtreme 2 does not charge what should I do
Manuals+ clarified question
Question

What should I do if my JBL Xtreme 2 is not charging?

Answer

If your JBL Xtreme 2 is not charging, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

• Check the Power Supply: Ensure you are using the original 19V 3A power adapter provided with the speaker. Verify that the wall outlet is functional and the cable is securely connected to both the outlet and the speaker's DC input.
• Inspect the Charging Port: Check the charging port under the waterproof cap for any debris, dust, or damage. Ensure the connection is tight.
• Reset the Speaker: Sometimes a software glitch can prevent charging. While the speaker is on, press and hold the Volume Up (+) and Play/Pause buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds until the speaker turns off. Then try charging it again.
• Check LED Behavior: Observe the battery level LEDs. If they do not light up at all when plugged in, the battery or the internal charging circuit may be faulty.
• Battery Maintenance: Note that the manual recommends recharging the battery at least once every 3 months if not in use to maintain battery health. If the battery has been depleted for a very long time, it may fail to accept a charge.

Warning: Do not expose the JBL Xtreme 2 to water while charging, as this can cause permanent damage to the speaker or power source.

Manuals+ clarified question
Question

How do I reset my JBL Xtreme 2 if it won't turn off, has no sound, and cannot update?

Answer

It appears your JBL Xtreme 2 is in a frozen or locked state. Since the power button is unresponsive, you should perform a hardware reset to force the device to restart.

To reset your JBL Xtreme 2:

• While the speaker is powered on (even if frozen), press and hold the Volume Up (+) button and the Play/Pause button simultaneously for about 5-10 seconds.
• The speaker should power off automatically.
• Turn the speaker back on. This usually clears temporary software glitches and should allow you to turn the device off normally or proceed with the update via the JBL Connect app.

Regarding the update error: The app requires Connect+ to be inactive. If the reset does not fix the update issue, ensure the speaker is connected to its AC power adapter during the update process, as some firmware updates require a stable power source to proceed. If the device remains completely unresponsive to button presses, you may indeed have to wait for the battery to drain completely before recharging and trying again.

time.
Manuals+ clarified question
Question

How can I prevent the audio from cutting out when using the AUX input on my JBL Xtreme 2?

Answer

The audio cutting out when using the AUX input is often caused by the speaker's Auto-Power Off (APO) or power-saving logic. This happens when the input signal from your source device (phone, laptop, etc.) is too low, leading the speaker to believe no audio is playing.

To resolve this, try the following steps:

• Increase Source Volume: Turn the volume on your source device (the device plugged into the AUX cable) to 80-100%. Then, use the buttons on the JBL Xtreme 2 to adjust the actual listening volume. This ensures the speaker receives a strong enough signal to stay active.
• Check the Cable: Ensure the 3.5mm AUX cable is fully seated in both the speaker and the source device. A loose connection can cause signal drops.
• Firmware Update: Use the JBL Connect app on your smartphone to check for and install any available firmware updates, as these can sometimes refine power-management behavior.

Note: The manual does not list a specific button combination to disable the power-saving feature entirely, as it is a standard part of the IPX7-rated hardware design to preserve battery life.

One of them has a 'flashing blue light' that turns constant white after a while.
The other one flashes blue and then remains contant blue.
Why the difference???
Manuals+ clarified question
Question

Why does one JBL Xtreme 2 speaker show a constant white light while the other shows a constant blue light after pairing?

Answer

The difference in LED colors indicates the current connection status of each speaker:

• Flashing Blue: The speaker is in Bluetooth pairing mode and is searching for a device.
• Constant Blue: The speaker is successfully connected to a Bluetooth source (like your phone).
• Constant White: This typically indicates that the speaker is powered on but not actively connected via Bluetooth, or it has transitioned into a different state such as being linked via JBL Connect+.

If you are trying to use both speakers together, ensure you have downloaded the JBL Connect app. To link them, play music on the speaker with the blue light (the primary speaker) and then press the JBL Connect+ button on both units to sync them. Once linked, the secondary speaker's behavior may change to reflect its status as a linked unit rather than a primary Bluetooth host.

Bran asks I just received my xtreme2. It won't turn on.
Manuals+ clarified question
Question

Why won't my new JBL Xtreme 2 turn on?

Answer

If your new JBL Xtreme 2 is not turning on, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

• Charge the device: Connect the speaker to the provided 19V 3A power adapter. New units often arrive with a depleted battery. A full charge takes approximately 3.5 hours.
• Check the Power Source: Ensure the power outlet is working and the cable is securely connected to both the wall and the speaker's charging port.
• Reset the Speaker: If the device is unresponsive, you can attempt a reset by pressing and holding the Volume Up (+) and Play/Pause buttons simultaneously for about 5-10 seconds while the unit is powered (or plugged in).
• Check LED Behavior: Observe the battery level indicator LEDs. If no lights appear even when plugged in, there may be an issue with the power adapter or the internal battery.

Note: If the speaker still does not turn on after several hours of charging, it may be defective. Since you just received it, we recommend contacting the retailer for a replacement or JBL support for warranty service.

10. When the music is playing, there is always a background noise.

Parzl. Birgit asks When the music is playing, there is always a background noise.
Wenn die Musik läuft, ist immer im Hintergrund ein Störgeräusch zu hören.
Manuals+ clarified question
Question

Why is there background noise or interference when music is playing on my JBL Xtreme 2?

Answer

Background noise or interference on your JBL Xtreme 2 can be caused by several factors. While the manual does not provide a specific troubleshooting section for static, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

• Check the Source: Ensure the noise is not part of the audio file itself by testing with a different song or device.
• Bluetooth Interference: Move your phone or audio source closer to the speaker. Ensure there are no physical obstacles or other electronic devices (like microwaves or Wi-Fi routers) nearby that might interfere with the Bluetooth signal.
• Wired Connection: If you are using an AUX cable, ensure it is fully plugged in and not damaged. A loose or poor-quality cable is a common cause of background humming or static.
• Firmware Update: Download the JBL Connect app to check if there is a firmware upgrade available for your speaker, as updates can sometimes resolve audio processing issues.
• Reset the Speaker: If the noise persists, try resetting the device to factory settings (consult the manual for the specific button combination, usually involving the Volume + and Play/Pause buttons).

If the noise sounds like a physical rattle, ensure the speaker is on a stable surface and that the passive radiators on the sides are not obstructed.

11. If I use the xtreme2 always on the ac mode, would I damage the battery?

Onur asks If I use the xtreme2 always on the ac mode, would I damage the battery?
Manuals+ clarified question
Question

Will keeping the JBL Xtreme 2 plugged into AC power all the time damage the battery?

Answer

Using the JBL Xtreme 2 in AC mode (plugged into a power outlet) for extended periods will not immediately damage the device. In fact, the speaker is designed to provide higher performance in this mode, with a rated power of 2 x 20W RMS Bi-amp when connected to AC power.

However, to maintain the long-term health of the Lithium-ion battery, the manual recommends the following:

• If the speaker will not be used for a long period of time, you should recharge the battery at least once every 3 months.
• Avoid exposing the speaker to water while it is charging, as this can cause permanent damage to the speaker or power source.

While modern charging circuits generally prevent overcharging, it is often recommended by battery experts to occasionally discharge the battery (use it in portable mode) to keep the lithium-ion cells active and prolong their overall lifespan.

JBL Xtreme 2 電量指示燈沒亮起,正常嗎?
Manuals+ clarified question
Question

Is it normal for the battery indicator on the JBL Xtreme 2 not to light up?

Answer

No, it is generally not normal for the battery indicator to remain completely unlit while the speaker is in use or charging. According to the LED Behavior section of the JBL Xtreme 2 manual, the indicator lights provide essential status information:

• During Charging: The LEDs should blink to indicate the current charge level.
• During Use: The LEDs indicate the remaining battery life.

If the lights do not turn on at all, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Check the Power Connection: Ensure you are using the original 19V 3A power adapter and that it is securely plugged into both the wall outlet and the speaker.
2. Reset the Speaker: Sometimes a software glitch can cause indicator issues. While the speaker is on, press and hold the "Volume +" and "Play/Pause" buttons together for about 5 seconds until the speaker turns off.
3. Battery Maintenance: The manual notes that if the speaker is not used for a long period, you should recharge the battery at least once every 3 months. If the battery has been completely depleted for a long time, it may take a while for the LEDs to respond once plugged in.

If the speaker plays music but the lights remain off, the LED module may be faulty. If the speaker does not turn on or charge at all, there may be an issue with the battery or the power supply.

Manuals+ clarified question
Question

Why does my JBL Xtreme 2 automatically turn on and refuse to stay off while it is charging?

Answer

This behavior is often caused by the speaker being stuck in a specific software state or a firmware glitch. While the manual does not explicitly list this symptom, you can attempt to resolve it by performing a factory reset or checking for firmware updates.

• Factory Reset: While the speaker is powered on, press and hold the Volume Up (+) and Play/Pause buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds until the speaker turns off. This will reset the device to factory settings (note: you will need to pair your Bluetooth devices again).
• Firmware Update: Download the JBL Connect app on your smartphone. Connect your speaker via Bluetooth and check if there is a firmware upgrade available, as updates often fix power management bugs.
• Check the Power Source: Ensure you are using the original 19V 3A power supply. Inconsistent voltage from third-party chargers can sometimes cause erratic power behavior.

If the speaker continues to turn itself back on immediately while plugged in after a reset, there may be a hardware fault with the internal charging circuit or the power button assembly.

Manuals+ clarified question
Question

Why is the USB port on my JBL Xtreme 2 not playing music, and does it need a firmware upgrade?

Answer

Based on the JBL Xtreme 2 specifications, the USB port is designed for USB charge out (5V / 2A maximum) only. It is intended to charge your mobile devices and does not support direct music playback from a USB flash drive or thumb drive.

If you were previously hearing music while a device was connected to the USB port, it is likely that the audio was actually being transmitted via Bluetooth or the AUX-in (3.5mm) port while the USB cable was simply providing power.

To troubleshoot your audio playback:

• Ensure your music source is connected via Bluetooth or a 3.5mm audio cable.
• Check the LED Behavior to confirm the speaker is powered on and paired.
• Regarding your question about upgrades: You can check for firmware updates by downloading the JBL Connect app on your smartphone. The app will notify you if a firmware upgrade is available for your speaker.

Question

How do I tell if the JBL Xtreme 2 is charging?

Answer

You can determine the charging status of your JBL Xtreme 2 by observing the LED indicators located at the bottom of the speaker:

• Charging: The LEDs will blink to show the current battery level. As the speaker charges, the lights will fill up sequentially.
• Fully Charged: All five LEDs will be lit solid and will eventually turn off when the battery is completely full.
• Low Battery: The last LED will blink white to indicate that the device needs to be charged.

Important Note: To prevent permanent damage, ensure the charging port is completely dry and the cap is tightly closed before exposing the speaker to water. Never charge the speaker while it is wet.

The JBL Xtreme 2 is designed with a speakerphone feature (HFP/HSP profiles) that automatically prioritizes incoming calls by pausing music playback. To prevent your iPhone from cutting off the sound when a call comes through, you can try the following steps on your iPhone:

• Change Audio Routing: On your iPhone, go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Call Audio Routing. Change the setting from "Automatic" to "Speaker" or "Bluetooth Headset" to control where the audio defaults, though this may not entirely stop the interruption.
• Use Do Not Disturb: Enable Do Not Disturb or a Focus Mode on your iPhone while listening to music. This will prevent incoming calls from ringing through and interrupting the Bluetooth stream.
• Disconnect Speakerphone Profile: While the manual does not list a way to disable the speakerphone feature directly on the device, you can sometimes go to your iPhone's Bluetooth settings, tap the "i" icon next to the JBL Xtreme 2, and see if there is a toggle to disable "Phone Calls" while leaving "Media Audio" active (note: this option varies by iOS version and device compatibility).

Please note that because the speaker is designed to function as a speakerphone, the default behavior is to pause music to allow you to take the call using the speaker's built-in microphone.

Question

Why are notifications not playing through my JBL Xtreme 2 when connected to my iPhone?

Answer

If your JBL Xtreme 2 is playing music but not notification sounds from your iPhone, the issue is likely related to iOS settings or firmware rather than a hardware failure. Please try the following steps:

• Check the JBL Portable App: Download and open the JBL Portable app (formerly JBL Connect) on your iPhone. Check if there is a firmware update available for your speaker, as this can resolve compatibility issues with newer iOS versions.
• iOS Bluetooth Settings: Go to Settings > Bluetooth on your iPhone. Tap the "i" icon next to your JBL Xtreme 2. Ensure that the Device Type is set to "Speaker."
• Check Focus/Do Not Disturb: Ensure your iPhone is not in a Focus mode (like Do Not Disturb) that silences notifications. Note that some iOS versions handle notification routing differently when connected to external Bluetooth speakers compared to CarPlay systems.
• System Sounds: Ensure the physical ringer switch on the side of your iPhone is set to ring (not silent) and that the volume is turned up while the notification is expected.
• Forget and Repair: Go to Bluetooth settings, select "Forget This Device," then perform a fresh pairing by pressing the Bluetooth button on the speaker and selecting it on your phone again.

Manuals+ clarified question
Question

Why does my JBL Xtreme 2 turn off automatically after a short period of listening?

Answer

If your JBL Xtreme 2 is turning off shortly after you start listening, it is likely due to one of the following issues:

• Battery Health: The battery may no longer be holding a sufficient charge to sustain high-volume playback. Try plugging the speaker into its 19V 3A power supply; if the problem stops while plugged in, the battery likely needs replacement.
• Auto-Standby Feature: JBL speakers have an automatic power-saving feature that turns the device off if it does not detect a strong enough audio signal. Ensure the volume on your source device (phone or tablet) is set to a high level, and adjust the actual listening volume using the buttons on the speaker itself.
• Firmware Issues: There may be a software glitch. Download the JBL Connect app to check for and install any available firmware upgrades.
• Reset the Speaker: You can try a factory reset by powering the speaker on and then pressing and holding the Volume Up (+) and Play/Pause (|> ) buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds until the speaker turns off.

Note: If the speaker is not used for long periods, the manual recommends recharging the battery at least once every 3 months to maintain its lifespan.

Manuals+ clarified question
Question

Can the USB port on the JBL Xtreme 2 be used to play music from a flash drive?

Answer

The USB port on the JBL Xtreme 2 is designed exclusively for USB charge out (charging other mobile devices) and does not support audio playback from a USB flash drive or media player.

According to the product specifications, the USB port provides a maximum output of 5V / 2A for charging purposes. To play music on this speaker, you must use one of the following methods:

• Bluetooth: Pair your device wirelessly via Bluetooth 4.2.
• AUX Input: Connect a device using a 3.5mm audio cable into the service/auxiliary port located under the waterproof cap.

The manual correctly identifies this port as a charging output rather than a media input.

Question

Is it safe to leave the JBL Xtreme 2 plugged into AC power most of the time, and will it damage the battery?

Answer

Yes, it is generally safe to leave your JBL Xtreme 2 plugged into AC power. Modern JBL speakers, including the Xtreme 2, utilize sophisticated battery management systems that prevent overcharging. Once the Lithium-ion battery reaches a full charge, the device will prioritize drawing power directly from the AC adapter rather than continuously cycling the battery.

However, to maintain the long-term health of the battery, please keep the following in mind:

• Periodic Discharge: While the unit won't "overcharge," Lithium-ion batteries benefit from being exercised. It is recommended to unplug the speaker and let the battery drain partially or fully at least once every few weeks to keep the battery chemistry active.
• Storage Maintenance: As noted in the manual, if you plan to leave the speaker unused for a long period, you should still recharge the battery at least once every 3 months to prevent it from falling into a deep discharge state.
• Performance Benefit: Using the speaker on AC power is actually beneficial for performance; the Xtreme 2 provides its full rated power (2 x 20W RMS) in AC mode, whereas output may be slightly limited when running on battery alone to conserve energy.

Question

How do I turn off the Bluetooth light and prevent other devices from connecting while using an AUX cable?

Answer

Based on the JBL Xtreme 2 manual, there is no dedicated button or setting to manually turn off the Bluetooth LED indicator while the speaker is powered on. The light behavior is automatic: it flashes when in pairing mode and stays solid when connected.

To address your issue with other devices connecting and causing a "hassle" while you are using the AUX (headphone) cable, try the following:

• Disconnect existing pairings: Long-press the Bluetooth button on the speaker to enter pairing mode, or manually "Forget" the JBL Xtreme 2 in the Bluetooth settings of your other devices (phones, tablets, etc.) to prevent them from auto-connecting.
• AUX Priority: The speaker is designed to prioritize the AUX input when a cable is plugged in, but active Bluetooth signals can sometimes cause interruptions. Disabling Bluetooth on your nearby devices is the most effective way to ensure a stable wired connection.
• JBL Connect App: You can download the JBL Connect app to check for firmware updates, which sometimes improve connection management, though it does not provide a toggle for the LED lights.

Question

How can I prevent the JBL Xtreme 2 from automatically turning off or losing its Bluetooth connection when not in use?

Answer

The JBL Xtreme 2 features an automatic power-saving mode that turns the speaker off after approximately 15 to 60 minutes of inactivity (no audio signal). Unfortunately, this hardware feature is designed to conserve battery life and cannot be disabled through the standard settings or the JBL Connect app.

To keep the speakers active and avoid using a ladder daily, you can try the following workarounds:

• Maintain an Audio Signal: Keep a device connected via Bluetooth and play a silent track on loop or keep the volume at a very low level. As long as the speaker detects an active audio stream, it should stay powered on.
• Use a Wired Connection: If possible, run an AUX cable (3.5mm) to the speakers. While they may still sleep, some users find that a constant low-level input via the AUX port can prevent the auto-shutdown.
• Power Supply: Ensure the speakers are plugged into a permanent power source (AC mode). While this does not disable the auto-off feature on its own, it ensures the battery does not drain while you are trying to keep the connection active.

If the speakers have already powered down, they must be manually turned back on using the power button on the unit; they cannot be woken up remotely via Bluetooth.

Question

Why is my JBL Xtreme 2 speaker producing no sound even though the lights are on?

Answer

If your JBL Xtreme 2 is powering on (lights are visible) but producing no sound at all—including the system startup and shutdown tones—it may be stuck in a software glitch or a specific mode. Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

• Perform a Factory Reset: While the speaker is powered on, press and hold the Volume Up (+) and Play/Pause (|> ) buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds until the speaker turns off. Then turn it back on and try to pair it again.
• Check for Service Mode: Sometimes speakers accidentally enter a 'service' or 'LFM' (Low Frequency Mode) that can cause issues. A reset usually clears this.
• Check Connections: Ensure there is no 3.5mm AUX cable plugged into the back, as this may override the Bluetooth audio.
• Firmware Update: Download the JBL Connect app on your smartphone. If the app can see the speaker, check if there is a firmware update available that might resolve audio processing issues.

If the reset does not restore the startup sound, there may be an internal hardware failure with the amplifier or internal wiring, and you should contact JBL support for repair options.

Question

Why is my JBL Xtreme 2 only showing one charging LED after charging all day?

Answer

If your JBL Xtreme 2 is only showing one LED after charging for several hours, it indicates that the battery is not successfully taking a charge. Based on the manual and common troubleshooting for this model, please check the following:

• Check the Power Supply: Ensure you are using the original 19V 3A power adapter. The Xtreme 2 requires this specific voltage to charge properly; a standard USB charger will not work.
• Inspect Connections: Verify that the power cable is firmly seated in both the wall outlet and the charging port behind the waterproof cap.
• Reset the Speaker: Sometimes a software glitch can freeze the battery indicator. While the speaker is on, press and hold the Volume Up (+) and Play/Pause buttons together for about 5 seconds until the speaker turns off. Then try charging again.
• Battery Health: The manual notes that if the speaker is not used for a long time, the battery should be charged at least once every 3 months. If the battery has been left depleted for a long period, it may have failed and might require professional service or replacement.

If the LED continues to blink on the first dot and never progresses, there may be a hardware fault with the internal charging circuit or the battery cells.

Question

How can I resolve performance issues or bugs with the JBL Xtreme 2?

Answer

If your JBL Xtreme 2 is behaving in a "temperamental" way or experiencing software-related bugs, there are several steps you can take to stabilize the device:

• Firmware Update: Download the JBL Connect app on your smartphone. Connect your speaker and check for any available firmware upgrades, as these often resolve known software bugs and performance issues.
• Factory Reset: If the speaker is unresponsive or glitchy, you can perform a reset. While the speaker is powered on, press and hold the Volume Up (+) and Play/Pause buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds until the speaker turns off.
• Battery Maintenance: Ensure the battery is healthy by charging it at least once every 3 months if not in use. Note that battery life can vary significantly based on volume levels and content.
• Waterproof Integrity: If the speaker has been exposed to liquid, ensure the back cap is tightly closed. Never charge the speaker while it is wet, as this can cause permanent damage and erratic behavior.

If these steps do not resolve the issues, the device may have a hardware defect covered under warranty.

Question

How can I tell if my JBL Xtreme 2 is charging when the lights do not come on?

Answer

When you plug in your JBL Xtreme 2, the battery level indicator (the row of LEDs at the bottom) should blink to indicate it is charging. If no lights appear, please check the following:

• Check the Power Supply: Ensure you are using the original 19V 3A power adapter. The Xtreme 2 requires a specific voltage that standard USB chargers cannot provide.
• Verify the Connection: Ensure the power cord is firmly seated in both the wall outlet and the charging port behind the waterproof cap on the speaker.
• LED Behavior: Under normal operation, the LEDs will flash one by one as the battery charges. If the battery is completely depleted, it may take several minutes of charging before the LEDs begin to show activity.

If the speaker still does not light up after 30 minutes of charging, there may be an issue with the power adapter or the internal battery. Note that the manual recommends recharging the battery at least once every 3 months to maintain battery health.

Question

Why does my JBL Xtreme 2 turn off immediately after connecting via Bluetooth?

Answer

If your JBL Xtreme 2 turns off immediately upon connecting to Bluetooth, it is often related to power delivery or a software glitch. Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

• Perform a Factory Reset: While the speaker is powered on, press and hold the Volume Up (+) and Play/Pause (|> ) buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds until the speaker turns off. Then, turn it back on and try pairing again.
• Check the Battery Level: Ensure the speaker is fully charged. If the battery is severely degraded, it may not be able to handle the power draw required for an active Bluetooth connection. Try connecting the speaker to its 19V 3A power supply and see if the issue persists while plugged in.
• Firmware Update: If the speaker stays on long enough, use the JBL Connect app on your mobile device to check for and install any available firmware upgrades.
• Clear Bluetooth Cache: On your phone or computer, "Forget" the JBL Xtreme 2 from your Bluetooth settings, restart your device, and attempt a fresh pairing.

If the speaker continues to shut down even when connected to the wall charger, it may indicate a hardware fault with the internal battery or the main circuit board.

Question

How can I fix my JBL Xtreme 2 if it won't turn on after a firmware update and only the Connect button lights up?

Answer

It appears your JBL Xtreme 2 may have encountered an error during the firmware update process. When the speaker is unresponsive or stuck with only specific lights (like the Connect button) showing, you should attempt a hardware reset.

To reset your JBL Xtreme 2, follow these steps:

1. Ensure the device is disconnected from any charging cables.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up (+) button and the Play/Pause button simultaneously for about 10-30 seconds until the unit powers off or the lights change.
3. Try to turn the speaker on normally.

If the speaker remains stuck in this state, it may be in "Service Mode" or "LFB Mode." You can try to exit this by plugging the speaker into a power source and holding the Connect+ and Volume Up (+) buttons together for 10 seconds. If these steps do not resolve the issue, the firmware update may have failed permanently, and you should contact JBL customer support for further assistance, as it may require a manual service flash.
