Figure 1: Front Panel of the SurgeX ESP SEQ-1U
The front panel of the SEQ-1U features the SurgeX brand logo and model number. A central LCD display shows the unit's status, including voltage (e.g., "STATUS: ALL OFF 118V") and protection status (e.g., "PROTECTION: GOOD"). To the left of the display, a key switch with associated lock icons provides security. On the right, "SEL" and "ADJ" buttons are used for navigation and adjustment, alongside a prominent blue "POWER" button.

Ukukhweza i-Rack
The SEQ-1U is designed for standard 19-inch rack mounting. Secure the unit using appropriate rack screws (not included) to ensure stability. Allow adequate ventilation around the unit.
Ukuxhuma Amandla
- Ensure the main power switch on the SEQ-1U is in the OFF position.
- Connect the unit's power cord to a dedicated 20 Amp, 120V AC power outlet.
- Verify that the power source is stable and within the specified voltagibanga.
Imishini yokuxhuma
The SEQ-1U features two always-on outlets and three sequenced banks, each with two outlets.
- Connect equipment that requires constant power (e.g., network routers, media servers) to the "Always On" outlets.
- Connect equipment that should power on/off in a specific order (e.g., pre-ampama-lifiers, amandla amplifiers, projectors) to the sequenced outlets (Banks 1, 2, and 3).
- Refer to your system's specific power-up/down requirements to determine the correct sequencing order for your devices.
Imiyalelo yokusebenza
Ivula/Vala amandla
- Insert the key into the key switch on the front panel and turn it to the "ON" position.
- Press the blue "POWER" button. The unit will begin its power-up sequence, activating the sequenced banks with the configured delays.
- To power off, press the blue "POWER" button again. The unit will initiate the power-down sequence in reverse order.
- For complete power disconnection, turn the key switch to the "OFF" position and/or unplug the unit from the wall outlet.
Adjusting Sequence Delay
The SEQ-1U allows adjustment of the delay between sequenced banks (0-40 seconds).
- Use the "SEL" button to navigate through menu options on the LCD display.
- Use the "ADJ" button to modify the selected value (e.g., sequence delay time).
- Consult the on-screen prompts for specific instructions on saving your custom settings in non-volatile memory.
Imininingwane Yokubonisa ye-LCD
The LCD display provides real-time status updates:
- ISIMO: Indicates the current state of the outlets (e.g., "ALL OFF", "BANK 1 ON") and the input voltage.
- UKUVIKELA: Displays the status of the surge protection (e.g., "GOOD", "FAULT").
Isondlo
- Ukuhlanza: Disconnect power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the unit. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Ukungenisa umoya: Ensure that ventilation openings are not blocked. Proper airflow is crucial for preventing overheating.
- Ukuphathwa Kwekhebula: Keep power cables neatly organized and away from signal cables to prevent interference.
Ukuxazulula inkinga
| Inkinga | Imbangela Engenzeka | Isixazululo |
|---|---|---|
| Iyunithi ayivuli. | No power from wall outlet; key switch in OFF position; tripped circuit breaker. | Check wall outlet with another device; ensure key switch is ON; reset circuit breaker. |
| Equipment not powering on in sequence. | Incorrect connection to outlets; sequence delay set too long/short; unit in bypass mode. | Verify connections to sequenced banks; adjust sequence delay; ensure unit is in normal operating mode. |
| "PROTECTION: FAULT" displayed. | Internal protection circuit activated due to severe surge. | Disconnect all equipment, power cycle the unit. If fault persists, contact SurgeX support. |
