Firmware Update Preparation
Always format microSD cards on the L6 after purchasing them new or using them with a different device.
Firmware Update Process
- Download the firmware update file from the L6 Support & Downloads page.
- Extract the ZIP file containing the firmware update file.
- Copy the extracted firmware update file (L6.BIN) to a microSD card.
- Connect the power source to the L6 using a USB Type-C cable.
- Insert the microSD card into the L6.
- Press and hold the (play/stop) button while pressing the (power) button until the indicator lights.
- Wait for the update to complete. The indicator will blink green when updating and rapidly blink green upon successful completion.
Confirming Firmware Update
The firmware version can be checked using the L6 Editor computer application.

Firmware update process
- Download the firmware update file.
- Extract the ZIP file.
- Copy the extracted firmware update file to a microSD card.
- Update the firmware.
- Confirm that the firmware has been updated correctly.
Updating the Firmware
This guide explains firmware updates to version 1.10 as an example.
- Download the firmware update file.
Download the ZIP file that contains the firmware update file from the L6 Support & Downloads page (zoomcorp.com/help/l6).On Windows
- Extract the ZIP file.
Select the folder that contains the downloaded ZIP file. Click ①“Compressed Folder Tools” and then click ②“Extract all”. This extracts the ZIP file. - Copy the firmware update file to a microSD card.
Copy the “L6.BIN” file to a microSD card.On macOS
- Extract the ZIP file.
After downloading, open the ①“Downloads” folder which appears at the right end of the Dock by default.
Then, click ②“L6_v1.10_E”. Downloaded files will be shown. - Copy the firmware update file to a microSD card.
Copy the “L6.BIN” file to a microSD card.The following procedures are the same on both Windows and macOS.
- Connect the power source (AC adapter, USB bus power, or portable battery) to the USB port (Type-C) of L6.
- NOTE
When performing a firmware update using batteries, the update may not be possible depending on the remaining battery charge.
- NOTE
- Insert the microSD card into the L6.
- While pressing the
(play/stop) button, press and hold the
(power) button until the
(power) indicator lights. The update will start and the
(power) indicator will slowly blink green. Updating should take about 30 seconds.
- When the update completes, the
(power) indicator will rapidly blink green.
- NOTE
- During the firmware update, do not turn the power off or remove the microSD card. If the update fails, the
(power) indicator will rapidly blink red. If this happens, turn the power off once and confirm that the microSD card is loaded correctly. Then, turn the power on and try updating again.
- Turn the power off.
- NOTE
If the firmware update fails, when the power is turned on, the(power) indicator might continue to rapidly blink red, and proper startup might not be possible.
Turn the power off and repeat the steps from the beginning.
