Getting started

Warnings and safety information
The navigation system helps you find your way to your destination with the built-in GPS receiver. It does not transmit your GPS position; others cannot track you. It is important to look at the display only when it is safe to do so. If you are the driver of the vehicle, we recommend that you plan and review your route before you start your journey. Plan the route before your departure and stop if you need to change the route. You must follow the traffic rules. If you deviate from the planned route, the navigation system changes the instructions accordingly.

Handling of microSDXC Card and iGO Setting changes
The navigation Software is provided on a removable microSD Card for easier updates on PC / MAC. Do handle the microSDXC card with care and follow common best practices in regard of removable data storage. Never eject the microSDXC card directly while the System is running and eject only if the head unit is fully powered off.
Avoid touching the metallic PINs and avoid using force that will physically damage the microSDXC card. Be also carful on electrostatic discharges (ESD).

Handling the microSDXC Card careless can result in improper system starts or data loss. The system will perform every 30 second auto save of settings. After changing settings do not immediately turn off the device. Perform User Setting Backup and Toolbox backups frequently.

Activation
When you start your navigation system for the first time, a few steps are necessary to set it up. Please follow these steps to activate your navigation system:
Remark: Activation by satellite GPS signal is required for unregistered new navigation packages on microSDXC card to allow package license registration on Naviextras (to obtain and access free map updates of the map subscription).

Select the language you want to use with your navigation system.
Please read and accept the end-user license agreement. This is necessary to use the product.
Finally, you are asked to review some basic settings, such as those for voice guidance language, route calculation, and measurement units. You can adjust these settings right away or at any other time.

Map updates
Your navigation system works with offline maps to ensure a seamless navigation experience even in remote places where an Internet connection is not available. The following solutions ensure that you can always drive using fresh maps and that you can expand map coverage when going abroad.

Latest Map Guarantee
After using navigation for the first time, you have 3 years* to download an up-to-date version of your map package for free. See the following section for instructions.
Map Updates through Naviextras

To perform the update, you will need a PC or Mac (desktop or laptop) equipped with:

Microsoft Windows® operating system
Internet connection
an microSD/SDHC/SDXC card reader (microSD adapter in the navigation package set content)

Follow these steps:

Turn off your infotainment system, then remove the microSDXC card from its slot.
Connect the microSDXC card with your PC. (Insert it into the PC’s microSD/HC/XC card slot or connect an external card reader).

Download and install the Naviextras Toolbox app on your PC or Mac.
- Go to the zenec.naviextras.com website. If you do not have a user account yet, register now.
- Click Download Naviextras Toolbox, for your operating system, on the right side of the page to access the download page.
- Follow the instructions on the site to download and install Naviextras Toolbox on your PC.
Purchase and download updates with Naviextras Toolbox.
- Start the Naviextras Toolbox app, and sign in with your Naviextras username and password. The app will detect the type of your navigation system automatically through the data on the microSDXC card.
- Use Naviextras Toolbox to download updates and to purchase additional extras at your convenience. For further instructions on using Toolbox, click „HOW TO UPDATE?“ GUIDE on the zenec.naviextras.com home page.
Once the update is complete, remove the microSDXC card from your PC, then insert it back into the microSDXC card slot of your car’s infotainment system.

The navigation system will load and start using the updated maps and other content after the next time you launch it. For cases where the navigation app version increases by an iGO Operating System update, new installation of the app becomes mandatory via the setup of the head unit.

* The exact remaining time depends on the first reception of a GPS signal on the device. The full map subscription duration is only available for new microSDXC nav packages in combination with an equally new device, which has not been in use with GPS signal before.

Navigation view

The navigation view is the main screen that shows the planned route on a map. The navigation system works with digital maps which are not simply the computerized versions of traditional paper maps. Similarly to paper road maps, the 2D mode of digital maps shows you streets and roads. Elevation is also illustrated in colour. Tap the map anywhere if you want to browse your surroundings. Buttons appear to change between a 3D/2D view, and to rotate or zoom the map. You can also swipe with your fingers to move the map in any direction.

Your navigation system is able to receive real-time traffic information. This is automatically taken into account in route calculation, and (according to your settings) the planned route is changed when a better alternative becomes available. Please note that this service may not be available in all regions. The features available in this view are different when you are driving without a destination and when you are navigating on a planned route.

Driving without a destination
The navigation view displays the following screen buttons and information on the map when you do not have a planned route:

Current position marker
- The current position is displayed as a blue arrow by default. When there is no GPS position, the current position marker is transparent and it shows your last known position.

Speed and speed limit
- It shows the current speed and the speed limit when speeding.
- The displayed speed limits are offline data and may – in certain cases – be incorrect. Do obey the locally signalized speed limit signage especially also if you see max. speed deviating from value shown on the map.

Search
- Tap to set a destination for your route. See chapters on selecting a destination below for
- detailed instructions.

Home and Work location
- Tap to navigate to your Home / Work address. First, tap ‘Home’ or ‘Work’ to define their locations, then use the same buttons to find your way there quickly.
Navigation menu
- By tapping it, you can open the Navigation menu, where you can reach other parts of the navigation system.
Street name
- It shows the current street name.

Driving with a destination
The navigation view displays the following screen buttons, data fields, and route information on the map during navigation:

Current position marker
- The current position is displayed as a blue arrow by default. When there is no GPS position, the current position marker is transparent and it shows your last known position.

Planned route
- The planned route is displayed as a green line by the default colour scheme.
Second next-turn preview
- It shows the type of the second next maneuver if it is near the first one.
Next turn preview
- It shows the type of the next maneuver and its distance.

Next street
- It displays the name of the next street.
Data fields
- Three data fields show the following information:
- The estimated time of the arrival at the destination.
- The remaining time of the trip.
- The remaining distance to the destination.
- You can change the default values by tapping the area where the data fields appear.
Traﬃc
- By tapping it, you can see a summary of reported real-time traffic events.
- If any of the events affect the planned route, the icon changes and on the Traffic screen, the Replan Route button becomes active. Tap it to check for an alternative route and
- switch to it manually.
- Tip: As s traffic is taken into account during route planning, you typically do not need to use this button at all.
Parking around destination
- It appears near the destination. By tapping it, you can check the available parking facilities
- around your destination.
Finish navigation
- It appears near the destination. Tap it when you no longer want to receive navigation instructions.

Lane information
- On multi-lane roads, it shows the lanes ahead and their directions. The highlighted arrows represent the lanes and direction you need to take.
Speed and speed limit
- It shows the current speed and the speed limit. It changes to red when speeding.
- It displays the speed limit and the current speed in red if it is exceeded.
  The speed limits displayed are offline data and may be incorrect in certain cases. Always follow the speed limit signs signalled locally, especially if they differ from the value shown on the map.
Warning road sign
- It shows warning for the current road (for example, dangers, sharp curves).
Signpost
- It shows the available destinations and the road numbers, similar to how they appear in real life.
- Press to hide it in case it overcasts other information you want to see.
Motorway services
- By tapping it, you can check the details of the next few service stations (petrol stations,
- restaurants) when travelling on a motorway.
Position from sensor data
- Displayed only when the GPS position is not available. If it is in the “on” state, navigation continues with the help of sensor data, providing an estimated position. In the “paused” state, sensor data is not used for this purpose.

Navigation menu
- By tapping it, you can open the Navigation menu, where you can reach other parts of the
- navigation system.

Street name
- It shows the current street name.
3D objects
They display hills, mountains, roads, landmarks, and buildings in 3D.

In some special cases, the standard map view is replaced with a different screen to enhance guidance in the given situation. These are as follows:

Junction view: When you are approaching a motorway exit or a complex intersection, the map is replaced with a 3D view of the junction (f the needed information exists in map data).You can turn the Junction view off in Settings/Navigation View or press on Junction view picture to return to the map view.
Tunnel view: When entering a tunnel, the map view changes to night mode, and upon leaving the tunnel, it switches back to day mode again. (This depends on your current settings for day/night mode.) You can turn the Tunnel view off in Settings/Navigation View.

Tap to open the Navigation menu [Pic 3, (16)]. You have the following menu options:

Tap (1) to set a destination.
Tap (2) to see a summary of reported real-time traffic events. If you have a planned route and there are traffic events affecting it, then the button becomes active. If you tap it, the system checks for an alternative route and indicates the change in time and distance compared to the original route. You can accept the alternative or return to the previous screen without changing the route. Please note that the Traffic service may not be available in all regions.
Tip: As traffic information (where available) is continuously taken into account during route planning, you typically do not need to browse reported events to find the ideal route.

You can adjust traffic-related settings in Settings/Route Preferences.
Tap (3) to build your route by adding several route points in a customised order. See chapter Creating a multi-point route.
Scroll down (4) and tap Settings to customise the way the navigation software works. See chapter Settings. In the navigation menu, you also have the following additional controls: The button Instruction indicates the map view mode (it is a 3-dimensional view by default). Tap (5) it to change the view to ‘2D’ mode or ‘2D, North up’ mode. Mute voice guidance or mute/unmute (6) all sounds of the navigation system. When you are navigating with a planned route, the following menu options are also available:

Tap (7) to add an intermediate destination to your route.
Tap (8) to delete the next waypoint or the whole route.
Tap (1) to discard the current route and navigate to a new destination instead.

Tap (9) to view the route in its full length on the map and make changes to it.
On the Route Summary screen, you can tap to check alternative routes to your destination, and select another one if needed.
On the Route Summary screen, you can also tap to access the following additional options:

Route Preferences: provides a shortcut to the settings related to route planning. See the chapter on Settings for details.
Avoid: opens a screen where you can set up an avoidance for the road ahead. (This can be useful in case of a sudden traffic disturbance.) Use the + and – icons to adjust the length of the route that you wish to avoid. Next to these controls, you can check the change in time and distance compared to the original route. In the background, a simplified map demonstrates the changes in the directions. When you are done, tap Confirm to set up the avoidance or return to the previous screen to keep the original route.
Itinerary: shows maneuvers and special sections on the planned route. Tap any of the items to see its location on the map.

Simulation: plays a drive-through simulation of the planned route at an adjustable speed. Use the controls in the middle to adjust the playback or tap X to stop the simulation.

Selecting a destination with quick search options

You can search for addresses, places of interest, saved locations, or recent destinations using the same search screen. This section shows how you can navigate to pre-defi ned locations such as:

parking, gas stations and restaurants as common places of interest

your recent destinations
your saved locations a location defined by its geographical coordinates

Follow these steps:

Tap Search [Pic 1, (3)] and the combined search screen appears.
Choose your destination from the following:
- Select a place of interest:
- Tap (1) to open a list of nearby parking places.
- Tap (2) to open a list of nearby gas stations.
- Tap (3) to open a list of nearby restaurants.
  Tip: In all cases, the search is carried out near your current location. Tap (4) if you wish to change the search area to another city.
- Select a previous destination:
- Unless this is the first time that your navigation system is used, you will also have a list of previous destinations on the screen. Tap any of them to use it again as your destination, or scroll the pages with your fingers if what you need is further down the list.
- Select a saved location:
  Tap to access your previously saved locations. If you have not set your home or work address yet, you can do so on the next screen. Later, these two will be quickly accessible from the main navigation view.
- Enter the coordinates of a location:
- Tap to enter the coordinates of your destination (first the latitude, then the longitude).
The map appears with the selected destination in the middle.
- - If necessary, tap the map somewhere else to modify the destination. The Cursor ( ) appears at the new location.
    Tip: You can tap (6) to open the context menu and store the selected location in Saved Locations.
Tap select to calculate the route and press start (7) to confirm rm.
Shortly, your route is calculated and shown on the map in full. To start navigation right away, just wait for a few seconds, or tap (7).

Tip: On this screen, you can check and adjust the planned route in several ways.

Tap (5) to compare this route to other possible routes.
Tap (6) to change route preferences (as shown in pic 5, such as route planning method and road types), set up an avoidance, display an itinerary or play a simulation of the route.

Selecting a destination by name or address

You can search for addresses, places of interest, saved locations, or recent destinations using the same search screen. This section shows how you can navigate to an address or location by entering its name.

Tap Search [Pic 1, (3)] and the combined search screen appears.
Start typing (1) either an address (street name and house number), or the name of a location that can be a place of interest, a previous destination, or one of your saved locations.
Tip: By default, search is carried out near your current location. If you are looking for a street or place in the same town, it is best to simply start typing its name. If your destination is further away, you may find it sooner by also typing at least a part of the town’s name. Alternatively, you can change the search area by tapping.
Type a few characters, and the search will start in the background. In most cases, you do not have to type the entire name or address of the destination. Pause typing for a few seconds to display the matching search results above the keyboard.
Tap the search result you were looking for.
- If it is not yet displayed, keep typing, or scroll the search results with your finger to hide the keyboard and browse the list in full-screen. (You can enable the keyboard again by tapping the input field at the top of the screen.)
The map appears with the selected destination in the middle.
- If necessary, tap the map somewhere else to modify the destination. The Cursor ( ) appears at the new location.
  Tip: You can tap to store the selected location in Saved Locations
Tap to confirm the destination.
Shortly, your route is calculated and shown on the map in full.
- To start navigation right away, just wait for a few seconds, or tap.

Tap to compare this route to other possible routes.
Tap to change route preferences (such as route planning method and road types), set up an avoidance, display an itinerary or play a simulation of the route.

Creating a multi-point route

The planned route can have several intermediate destinations (stopovers, waypoints) before its final destination. You can create a multi-point route in the following ways:

Adding a waypoint to an existing route

Select a destination as described in the previous chapters.
On the Map screen, tap to open the Navigation menu.
Tap to add an intermediate waypoint. The steps are the same as for the first destination.

Creating a new multi-point route

On the Map screen, tap to open the Navigation menu.
Tap Multipoint Route [Pic 4, (3)].
Now you can add any of your intended destinations. The steps are the same as described in the previous chapters.
Now you have several options to add a new route point:
- Tap Final Destination (1) to add a new destination to the end of your route. This changes your previous destination into a waypoint on the route.
- Tap Insert Waypoint (2) between any of your route points to add a stopover to your route.
  Tip: Tap (3) next to any route point to access further options, such as changing their order on the route, deleting or saving a route point, or checking its location on the map.
  The icon gives you further options: you can delete the entire route, or you can optimise the order of the waypoints or the order of all route points, including the destination.
When finished, tap to Calculate Route and confi rm to start navigation.

Settings menu

To adjust navigation-related Settings, tap Settings in the navigation menu [Pic 4, (4)]. The following sections contain a detailed description of the options available in the Settings menu. In addition, you can perform two types of reset operations by tapping the icon (1):

Reset All Settings restores all settings to their factory default values. Your navigation data remains intact.
Factory Reset restores all settings to their factory default values and deletes all your navigation data, including previous destinations and saved locations. Your maps will not be affected.

Route Preferences

Route Planning Method: tap to change your preference between fast, easy and green (fuel-saving) route types.
Road Types: choose what kind of roads to include or exclude when planning a route. For example, disable ‘Road With Period Charge’ if you do not want to buy a motorway vignette.
Traffi c: customize the behavior of the real-time traffic feature. The first setting enables you to define a threshold for changing the route as you drive: a detour will only be made if it can save you more time than what is set in this threshold. The second setting is about manual configuration: if you turn it off, the route will be recalculated automatically in case of a traffic delay, and if you turn it on, you will have to approve detours manually in a popup.

Vehicle Settings
Set the maximum allowed speed for your vehicle. This will be taken into account in route planning.

Sound
Adjust the different sound volumes and fine-tune the behavior of voice guidance. Some of the settings are only available if you select a machine-generated TTS (text-to-speech) voice in Regional settings. As opposed to natural voices that were recorded with human speakers, TTS voices are capable of announcing extended instructions such as those containing street names. These voices may not be available in your product version.

Warnings

Under Speed Limit, the following settings are available:
- Warn When Speeding: Tap to set whether and how you want to be warned when speeding. If you select a visual warning only, the speed limit turns red on the navigation view when you exceed the limit. If you select both an audio and a visual warning, a voice announcement is also made each time.
- Speeding tolerance: You can define a tolerance level separately for driving in and outside towns. Depending on this setting, you will be warned a little below or above the legal limit.
Under User Confirmation Notes, the following settings are available:
- Automatically continue navigation use with sensor data: set what happens if navigation starts without receiving a GPS signal. If this switch is turned off , you will be asked upon each startup without a GPS signal whether you want to use sensor data to provide an estimated position for navigation. If turned on, the dialogue box will not appear. In either case, the ‘Position from sensor data’ icon will be available in the navigation view to change the sensor setting.
- Permanently Confi rm Attention Notes: turn this on if you do not want to confirm the ‘drive carefully’ warning notifications on each startup.
Alert Types: Use the main switch to control all alerts, or fine-tune warnings by individual alert types.

Navigation View
Fine-tune the appearance of the map screen.

Tap Colour Mode to set whether you want to have an automatic change between bright and dark colors for driving at night/during the day.
Tap Day Map Colours/Night Map Colours to change map color schemes for daytime and night driving.
Use the switch next to each item to enable or disable certain map and navigation features, such as:
3D landmarks and buildings
a route progress bar showing your advance on the planned route
the motorway services icon
an automatic overview that zooms out the map when driving on longer roads
lifelike signpost display above the road
a 3D static junction view in complicated intersections
a tunnel view when the GPS signal is lost in long tunnels

Regional
Change the menu language, the voice guidance language and speaker, adjust the time and date formats and the measurement units, or change the time zone.

GPS Information
Check the accuracy of the GPS signal and the standard UTC time broadcast by satellites.

About
Check legal and statistical information about your navigation software.

Start Configuration Wizard
Run a setup wizard to modify the basic navigation-related settings.
