Siemens RDH100RF/SET Wireless Room Thermostat with LCD
Product Overview
The Siemens RDH100RF/SET is a wireless room thermostat system designed for controlling room temperature in heating systems. It comprises one RDH100RF transmitter and one RCR100/433 receiver.
Typical Applications:
- Homes
- Residential buildings
- Schools
- Offices
The device can be used with various heating equipment, including:
- Thermal valves or zone valves
- Combi boilers
- Gas or oil burners
- Pumps
Temperature Control Functions
The RDH100RF/SET offers two intelligent temperature control algorithms: 2-position and PID. The control behavior can be configured via parameter P01.
2-Position Control
This algorithm switches the heating system on and off within a switching differential (SD) based on the difference between the setpoint and the measured room temperature.
Diagram Description: A graph shows room temperature fluctuating around a setpoint, with distinct 'Boiler On' and 'Boiler Off' periods, illustrating the switching differential (ISD).
PID Intelligent Learning Control
This algorithm periodically switches the heating system on and off. The period time (T) and pulse length (P) of the control signal (PWM) are determined by the setpoint and the measured room temperature.
Diagram Description: A graph shows room temperature smoothly approaching and stabilizing at the setpoint, with 'Boiler On' and 'Boiler Off' periods that are dynamically adjusted.
PID control generally provides more comfort and is more energy-efficient than 2-position control.
Control Behavior (P01) Settings
The factory setting for control is 'PID slow'. Other options include:
- 2-position, 1 K: For systems with small capacity or applications requiring extended runtimes. Typical applications include dry floor heating systems, heat pumps, and electric heating with contactors.
- 2-position, 0.5 K: Offers better comfort than 1 K switching hysteresis and can be used for general or difficult control situations.
- PID slow: For slow heating systems requiring longer minimum On times and a limited number of switching cycles per hour. Typical applications include wet floor heating systems and oil-fired boilers. Minimum switch on/off time is > 4 minutes, with a minimum period of approximately 12 minutes.
- PID fast: For fast heating systems tolerating a high number of switching cycles. Typical applications include electric heaters with current valves, gas boilers, and fast thermal actuators. Minimum switch on/off time is > 1 minute, with a minimum period of approximately 6 minutes.
WARNING: Do not use PID fast for oil boilers or electric mechanical actuators.
Parameter Setting
Parameter settings are stored in non-volatile memory and are retained after battery removal. A reset function on the rear of the thermostat reloads factory settings.
Parameter List:
Parameter | Description | Factory setting | Setting range | Remark |
---|---|---|---|---|
P01 | Control behavior | PID slow (4) | 0 = 2P, 1.0 K 1 = 2P, 0.5 K 2 = PID fast 4 = PID slow |
|
P02 | Maximum temperature range | 30 °C | P03...30 °C | Limit of comfort and economy setpoint |
P03 | Minimum temperature range | 5 °C | 5 °C...P02 | Limit of comfort and economy setpoint |
End | Exit parameter setting |
Parameter Setting Mode:
- Press LEARN on the rear for 5 seconds until "P01" appears.
- Press LEARN again; the parameter value flashes for adjustment.
- Adjust the parameter using the setting knob.
- Press LEARN to confirm.
- Rotate the setting knob clockwise to the next parameter and repeat steps 2-4.
- Exit by rotating the setting knob clockwise to "End" and pressing LEARN.
Note: The thermostat automatically exits parameter setting mode one minute after the last action.

Display
The digital display shows the current room temperature and the comfort temperature setpoint. A triangle symbol △ indicates when the heating output is active.
Example Display: Current temperature 20.0 °C, Setpoint 25.0 °C.
Ordering
Specify name and product number when ordering, e.g., room temperature controller RDH100RF/SET. Valves and actuators should be ordered separately.
Mechanical Design
The transmitter consists of four parts:
- Plastic housing with digital display, electronics, operating elements, and built-in room temperature sensor.
- Baseplate (mounting base).
- Battery compartment.
- Fold-out stand.
The housing attaches to the baseplate, and a reset button is located on the rear of the transmitter.
Transmitter Elements
Diagram Description: A diagram of the transmitter shows numbered elements:
Element | Description |
---|---|
1 | Display of the room temperature in °C/°F |
2 | Indicates a request for heating △ |
3 | Temperature setting knob |
4 | Battery compartment |
5 | Comfort temperature setpoint |
6 | Indicates RF signal test (RF TEST) |
7 | Indicates low battery power; replace batteries [battery symbol] |
Receiver
The receiver is housed in a plastic casing with LEDs and buttons.
Diagram Description: A diagram of the receiver shows:
- LED Signal indicator

Override Function
Override allows temporary overriding of the active value from the sender. The behavior depends on the radio connection status.
- Normal connection: Pressing OVERRIDE overwrites the value for approximately 14 minutes, after which it returns to the setpoint.
- Faulty connection: Pressing OVERRIDE permanently overrides the value. It returns to the setpoint once the connection is re-established.
RF LED Indicators
The RF LED indicates the status of the radio frequency connection:
RF state | RF LED |
---|---|
Power up (first 5 seconds) | Flash RED |
Power up (after 5 seconds) | RED |
Press OVERRIDE switch | Flash RED + ORANGE (amber) (4 seconds) |
Learning period | No LED |
Software reset | RED |
RF receive | GREEN |
No RF within last 25 minutes | RED |
Manual override (RF receive) | Flash ORANGE |
Relay LED Indicators
The Relay LED indicates the status of the relay output:
Relay state | Relay LED |
---|---|
From OUT to ON (first 5 seconds) | Flash ORANGE |
ON | ORANGE |
From ON to OFF (after 5 seconds) | Flash ORANGE |

Mounting Notes
Mount the transmitter by first attaching the baseplate to a flat wall. The transmitter can also be used as a "mobile" device with its fold-out stand.
The receiver does not require a baseplate. Connect electrical connections first, then secure the receiver according to local regulations.
EMI filters (e.g., KEILS EMI CW4L2-3-R) can reduce EMI disturbance. Refer to the connection diagram for details.
DANGER: Electric shock hazard. Disconnect from power supply before connecting EMI filter. Ensure EMI filter is out of reach after installation.
If the reference room has thermostatic radiator valves, set them to their fully open position.
Refer to operating instructions A6V101035988 for commissioning. The RDH100RF/SET transmitter and receiver are paired at the factory.
Diagram Description: An illustration shows recommended mounting height of 1.5 m above the floor and a minimum distance of 20 cm from corners.
- The devices are suitable for wall mounting.
- Recommended height: 1.5 m above the floor.
Important Usage and Safety Notes
- Do not mount devices in recesses, behind curtains, or near heat sources.
- Avoid direct solar radiation and drafts.
- Seal conduit boxes or installation tubes to prevent air currents from affecting sensor readings.
- Adhere to allowed ambient conditions.
Change of Batteries
Replace batteries when the battery symbol appears on the display.
Reset
To reset the transmitter: Simultaneously press the TEST and LEARN buttons on the rear.
To reset the receiver: Simultaneously press the OVERRIDE and LEARN buttons. This resets all individual settings to their default values.
Maintenance
The transmitter and receiver are maintenance-free, except for the transmitter battery.
Disposal
This symbol [waste bin with cross] indicates that the product, packaging, and batteries must not be disposed of as domestic waste. Dispose of items at separate collection and recycling facilities according to local and national legislation. Refer to Siemens information on disposal for details.
