B3349-15 Flexible Split Load Units

Specifications:

  • Product: Flexible Split Load Units Consumer Units
  • Voltage: 230/240V a.c.
  • Compliance: BSEN60439-3

Product Usage Instructions:

Installation:

1. This unit must be installed by a qualified competent person
following all relevant legislation and regulations.

2. Do not use power tool screwdrivers on electrical
connections.

Fixing to Wall:

1. Remove the front cover by unscrewing the two screws under the
visor.

2. Secure the base of the enclosure to a flat wall or rigid
surface.

Fit Circuit Breakers / RCBO’s:

1. Use only NHX range MCBs, NHXSBS/WRCBL range RCBOs, and NSC
range fuses within Wylex NH range flexible consumer units.

2. Fasten all circuit breakers directly onto the DIN rail.

Cut Busbar:

1. Each unit comes with 2 or 3 busbars; cut them to suit the
required number of outgoing ways on the isolator and RCDs.

2. Insulate unused ways with the yellow busbar insulation
provided.

Install Busbars:

1. Undo the bottom terminal screws on all MCB’s/RCBO’s and the
live terminal of the isolator and/or RCD.

2. Insert the busbars into the terminal cages as per the
instructions.

3. Ensure proper insertion and tighten all terminal screws
adequately.

Circuit Identification:

1. Cut circuit identification labels to match the number of
outgoing ways on the isolating devices and apply them to the front
cover.

Testing and Commissioning:

Before commissioning, test the consumer unit and the
installation according to the requirements of BS 7671.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

Q: Can I use any type of circuit breakers with this unit?

A: No, only NHX range MCBs, NHXSBS/WRCBL range RCBOs, and NSC
range fuses must be used within Wylex NH range flexible consumer
units.

Q: What should I do with unused modular ways?

IMPORTANT INFORMATION This unit should be installed by a qualified competent person in accordance with all relevant legislation and regulations including building regulations and wiring regulations BS7671. If in doubt contact a qualified competent person.
· Turn off all power supplying this equipment before working on or inside the equipment. · Always use a properly rated volt-sensing device to confirm the power is off. · Replace all devices, doors and covers before turning on the power to this equipment. · To avoid ingress of swarf and similar material, always remove gland plates to allow cutting/slotting for cable entries. Failure to follow these instructions could result in serious injury or death.

DO NOT USE POWER TOOL SCREWDRIVERS ON ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

Ambient Temperature Considerations The NH Range of MCB’s are calibrated to meet the 30°C Ref Calibration Temperature requirements of BSEN 60898-1. At other
temperatures the following rating factors should be used:-

At 60°C use 0.9 At 20°C use 1.0

At 0°C use 1.1

Adjacent thermal-magnetic MCBs should not be continuously loaded or approaching their nominal rated currents when mounted in enclosures. It is good engineering practice to apply generous derating factors or make provision for adequate free air between devices. In these situations, and in common with other manufacturers, we recommend a 60% diversity factor is applied to the MCB nominal rated current where it is intended to load the MCB’s continuously (in excess of 1 hour).

Introduction Each flexible unit is designed to cover a range of split load configurations simply by sliding the RCD into the appropriate position on the DIN rail.

Fix unit to Wall Remove the front cover by unscrewing the two screws under the visor. Fasten the base of the enclosure to a flat wall or rigid surface.

Fit Circuit Breakers / RCBO’s Only NHX range MCBs, NHXSBS/WRCBL range RCBOs and NSC
range fuses must be used within Wylex NH range flexible consumer
units. Fasten all circuit breakers directly onto the din rail.

Cut busbar Each unit is supplied with 2 or 3 busbars, which should be cut to suit the required number of outgoing ways on the isolator and the RCDs. Unused ways should be insulated using the yellow busbar insulation supplied with the unit.

Install busbars
Undo the bottom terminal screws on all MCB’s / RCBO’s, and the live terminal of the isolator and/or RCD. Insert the busbars into the terminal
cages. The right hand side pin of one busbar is to be inserted in the
main switch to MCB’s & the right hand side pin of the other busbars from RCD to MCB’s. Ensure the busbars are fully inserted above any cable links and then tighten all terminal screws adequately (see
diagram). For Dual RCD units, both busbars connect to their appropriate RCD.

Check the tightness of all screw connections, including factory

made connections (see table).
