Watec AVM-USB2 Functional Setting Controller

This operation manual covers safety and standard connection, for the AVM-USB2. First, we ask you to read this operation manual thoroughly, then connect and operate the AVM-USB2 as advised. In addition, for future reference, we also advise safekeeping of this manual.

Caution Icon “Caution”, may incur injury and cause damage to peripheral objects in the immediate surroundings.

Cautions for safety

The AVM-USB2 is designed to be used safely; however, electrical goods may lead to physical accident caused by fire and electric shock if not used correctly.
Therefore, please keep and read the “Cautions for safety” for protection against accidents.

  • Danger IconDo not disassemble and/or modify the AVM-USB2.
  • Do not operate the AVM-USB2 with wet hands.
  • Warning IconPower is supplied through the USB bus.
    Connect the USB terminal to the PC correctly for power.
  • Do not expose the AVM-USB2 to wetness or high moisture conditions.
    The AVM-USB2 is designed and approved for indoor use only.
    The AVM-USB2 is not water-resistance or waterproof. If the location of the camera is outdoors or in an outdoor like environment, we recommend that you use an outdoor camera housing.
  • Protect the AVM-USB2 from condensation.
    Keep the AVM-USB2 dry at all times, during storage and operation.
  • Should the AVM-USB2 not work properly, switch off the power immediately. Please check the camera according to the “Trouble shooting” section.
  • Caution Icon Avoid the striking of hard objects or dropping the AVM-USB2.
    The AVM-USB2 uses high quality electrical parts and precision components.
  • Do not move the AVM-USB2 with the cables connected.
    Before moving the AVM-USB2, always remove the cable(s).
  • Avoid using the AVM-USB2 near any strong electro-magnetic field.
    Avoid emission sources of electromagnetic waves when the AVM-USB2 is installed into main equipment

Problems and Trouble Shooting

If any of the following problems occur when using the AVM-USB2,

  • Smoke or any unusual odor emerges from the AVM-USB2.
  • An object becomes embedded or a quantity of liquid seeps into the AVM-USB2.
  • More than the recommended voltage or/and amperage has been applied to the AVM-USB2 by mistake
  • Anything unusual occurring to any equipment connected to the AVM-USB2.

Disconnect the camera immediately according to the following procedures:

  1. Remove the cable from USB port of the PC.
  2. Turn off the power supply to the camera.
  3. Remove the camera cables connected to the camera.
  4. Contact the distributor or dealer from which the AVM-USB2 was purchased.

Connection

Before connecting the cable to the camera and the AVM-USB2, please make sure that the pin configuration is correct. The wrong connection and usage may cause failure. The applicable cameras are WAT-240E/FS. See the connection sample as indicated below
Do not unplug the cables while communicating with a PC. It may cause improper operation of the camera.
