Product Usage Instructions

Getting Started:

Rotate the packaging locks 90 degrees anticlockwise and discard them.

Turn on the Mix It Up DJ and press the Settings Button at the back to exit Try-Me mode.
If the unit powers down during play, replace the batteries with a new set of 3 AA batteries.

Battery Removal and Installation:

Ensure the unit is turned off before proceeding.

Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit and open it using a screwdriver.
If there are old batteries, remove them and install 3 new AA batteries following the diagram inside the battery box.

For optimal performance, use alkaline or fully charged Ni-MH rechargeable batteries.
Secure the battery cover back in place.

Q: What should I do if the Mix It Up DJ does not power on?
A: Check if the batteries are correctly installed and replace them with new ones if needed. Ensure the unit is switched on using the Power Button.

Q: How do I change to a different music track within the same style?
A: Press the Music Style Button corresponding to the current style again to switch to another track within that style.

Quick Start Guide

WARNING
All packing materials such as tape, plastic sheets, packaging locks, removable tags, cable ties, cords and packaging screws are not part of this toy and should be discarded for your child’s safety.

NOTE
Please save this Instruction Manual as it contains important information.

Unlock the Packaging Locks

Rotate the packaging locks 90 degrees anticlockwise.
Pull out the packaging locks and discard.

GETTING STARTED

NOTE
This product is in Try-Me mode in the packaging. Turn on the Mix It Up DJ, then press the Settings Button at the back. You will hear 3 short beeps and the unit will restart. Mix It Up DJ is now ready for Normal Play! If the Mix It Up DJ powers down during play, please install a brand new set of batteries.

WARNING:
Adult assembly required for battery installation. Keep batteries out of reach of children.

BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Make sure the unit is turned Off.
Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw and then open the battery cover.
If used batteries are present, remove these batteries from the unit by pulling up on one end of each battery.

Install 3 new AA (AM-3/LR6) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (For best performance, alkaline batteries or fully charged Ni-MH rechargeable batteries are recommended).
Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.

IMPORTANT: BATTERY INFORMATION

Insert batteries with the correct polarity (+ and -).
Do not mix old and new batteries.
Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable batteries.

Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used.
Do not short-circuit the supply terminals.
Remove batteries during long periods of non-use.

Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.
Dispose of batteries safely. Do not dispose of batteries in fire.

RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES

Remove rechargeable batteries (if removable) from toy before charging.
Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.

Disposal of batteries and product

The crossed-out wheelie bin symbols on products and batteries, or on their respective packaging, indicates they must not be disposed of in domestic waste as they contain substances that can be damaging to the environment and human health.
The chemical symbols Hg, Cd or Pb, where marked, indicate that the battery contains more than the specified value of mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd) or lead (Pb) set out in the Batteries and Accumulators Regulation.
The solid bar indicates that the product was placed on the market after 13th August, 2005.
Please dispose of your product and batteries responsibly.
In the UK, give this toy a second life by disposing of it at a small electricals collection point* so all of its materials can be recycled.

Power Button
Press the Power Button to power On the unit. Press the button again to power Off the unit.
Four Mode Buttons
Press one of the Mode Buttons to change mode.

Eight Piano Keys
Press the Piano Keys to hear music notes in Mix mode, Create mode and Trio mode. Use the piano keys to repeat the rhythm patterns in Learn mode.
Light Up Disc
Spin the Light Up Disc back and forth to add sound effects to your music. The lights will also flash with music and sounds.
Nine Light Up Buttons
Press the Light Up Buttons to choose the instruments or characters. After a Light Up Button is pressed, it will illuminate.

Three Music Style Buttons Press one of the Music Style Buttons to change the music style in Mix mode, Create mode and Trio mode. Press the same Music Style Button again to change to another music track in the same style. There are 3 music styles: Hip-Hop, Chill Out and Dance.
Stop Button
Press the Stop Button to stop the music in Mix mode and Create mode.
Record/Play Button
Press the Record/Play Button to start recording in Mix mode and Create mode. The system will record the sound from the Light Up Disc, Piano Keys, DJ Phrase Button and tempo changes. When you finish the recording, press the OK Button to save your mix. The recording will also end automatically after 2 minutes. After recording, press the Record/Play Button to enter the Record/Play menu, then spin the Light Up Disc to select Play, followed by pressing the OK Button to playback your mix.
Note: When recording a new mix, your previous recording will be overwritten.

Two Volume Buttons
Press the Volume Buttons to adjust the overall volume.
Two Tempo Buttons
In Mix mode and Create mode, press the Tempo Buttons to adjust the tempo of the built-in songs and melodies.
DJ Phrase Button
Press the DJ Phrase Button to add DJ phrases into the music.

OK Button
Press the OK Button to confirm the selection when in the Record/Play menu or in the Settings menu.
Settings Button
When starting the Mix It Up DJ for the first time, press the Settings Button to exit Try-me mode. Then, press the Settings Button during normal play to enter the Settings menu. From here you can choose if you’d like the disc light ON/OFF, or to adjust the screen contrast. Spin the Light Up Disc to make a selection and then press the OK Button to confirm.
AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
To preserve battery life, the unit will automatically shut off after several minutes without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing the Power Button. The unit will also automatically turn off when battery power is very low.

Note: If the Mix It Up DJ powers down repeatedly, please install a brand new set of batteries.

Modes

Mix Mode
Create your own unique music combinations. Press the Light Up Buttons and mix up to four tracks into the music. Press the Piano Keys, DJ Phrase Button, or spin the Light Up Disc to jam fun sounds. You can also press the three Music Style Buttons to choose different songs. Press the same Music Style Button again to change to another music track in the same style.

Create Mode
Create a melody using any instrument sound you’d like. Press one of the Light Up Buttons to select the sound for the Piano Keys and the Light Up Disc. Press the DJ Phrase Button to jam fun sounds. You can also press the three Music Style Buttons to choose backing music. Press the same Music Style Button again to change to another music track in the same style, and press the Tempo Buttons to adjust the backing music tempo.

Trio Mode
Form your own Trio! Press the Light Up Buttons to select instruments or characters to perform in a trio. The newly chosen instrument/character will replace the oldest one. Press the Piano Keys, DJ Phrase Button, or spin the Light Up Disc to jam fun sounds. You can also press the three Music Style Buttons to choose different melodies. Press the same Music Style Button again to change to another music track in the same style.

Learn Mode
See how well you can repeat rhythm patterns. Press one of the Light Up Buttons to select a theme. A rhythm pattern will then play for you to repeat. To repeat the rhythm pattern, press any Piano Key in rhythm with the pattern you just heard. When asked to turn the disc, spin the Light Up Disc. Repeat a rhythm pattern with 50% or more notes correct to master the pattern. Master 4 or more patterns to win the game.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat sources.
Remove the batteries if the unit will not be in use for an extended period of time.

Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.
If the unit stops working or malfunctions, install a brand new set of batteries.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If for some reason the program/activity stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps:

Turn the unit Off.
Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.

Turn the unit On. The unit should now be ready to use again.
If the unit still does not work, install a brand new set of batteries.
