General Information
Optional Equipment Compatibility
- While VMAC strives to design systems compatible with optional OEM equipment (such as running boards), it is impractical to develop systems that accommodate every OEM and aftermarket option or add-on.
- Whenever possible, VMAC endeavors to advise of compatibility issues in the “Additional Application Information” section of the manual.
- Even when specific optional equipment is determined by VMAC to be incompatible, it does not preclude the vehicle upfitter or end user from modifying the optional equipment to make it compatible with the installed VMAC system.
- VMAC does not warranty or accept responsibility or liability for the fitment, function, or safety of any products modified in any way not expressly outlined in the installation manual.
Before Starting
- Note and label all parts that are removed from the vehicle as many of the OEM parts will be reused during the installation of the VMAC system.
- Read this manual before beginning the installation to ensure familiarity with the components and how they will fit on the vehicle.
- Identify any variations from the application list such as vehicle model, engines, or optional equipment (e.g., dual alternator, active steering assist, etc.).
- Open the package, unpack the components, and identify them using the Illustrated Parts List (IPL) included in the Fastener Pack.
Hose Information
- Depending on other installed equipment, it might be necessary to move the air/oil separation tank from its intended location. The hoses used in VMAC compressor systems have a specific inner liner that is compatible with VMAC compressor oil.
- Use of hoses other than those supplied or recommended by VMAC may cause compressor damage and may void your warranty. Please contact VMAC for replacement hoses and further information.
Ordering Parts
- To order parts, contact a VMAC dealer. The dealer will ask for the VMAC serial number, part number, description, and quantity. Locate the nearest dealer online at https://www.vmacair.com/support/find-a-dealer or call 877912-6605.

Maintenance and Repair Safety
It is impossible to warn of all the possible hazards that may result from operating, servicing, or repairing this system.- Follow all safety precautions and industry standard “best practices”
- Wear all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and follow all industry-standard safety practices.
- Before performing any service, ensure the vehicle transmission is in “PARK” with the parking brake applied and the wheels chocked (if applicable).
- Confirm that the system is depressurized and has cooled before performing any service work.
- Never use flammable solvents to clean any components. If a flammable solvent has been used, rinse the component thoroughly with water and dry it before reinstalling it to prevent the possibility of explosion.
Use only genuine VMAC parts to maintain the system. Genuine VMAC parts are designed to work with the high pressure and heat generated by the compressor.- Substituting genuine VMAC parts may void the warranty and could cause equipment damage, injury, or death.
- This information is intended for people with mechanical trade certification who have the tools and equipment to properly and safely perform the service or repair.
- Do not attempt to service or repair this system without the appropriate mechanical training, knowledge, and experience.
Installation
The images used in this manual are of the G300003 system however, installation of the A500044 on G300004/5/6 systems will be very similar.- Disconnect the negative battery terminal (Figure 1).

- Disconnect the spark plug wire (Figure 2).

Verify that the correct cartridge is installed into the compressor (200 W heater cartridge, P/N: 3550934).- Insert the 200 W heater cartridge into the compressor. Ensure the cartridge protrudes no more than 1/8 in from the casting (Figure 3).

(Shroud removed for clarity)
- Fill the cavity in the compressor with the supplied RTV sealant to secure the heater cartridge in place (Figure 4).

- G300005/6 only: To improve access for installation of the engine block heater unfasten the throttle switch bracket and move it aside (Figure 5).

- Remove the (×2) engine mounting fasteners and (×1) engine shroud fasteners; these fasteners will be reused (Figure 6).

Verify that the correct cartridge is installed into the heater block (400 W heater cartridge, P/N: 3550935).- Insert the 400 W heater cartridge into the heater block and secure it with the (2x) 3/8 in hose clamps (Figure 7).

- Install the heater block and cartridge using the (×2) engine mounting fasteners removed earlier (Figure 8).

- Route the cold climate harness between the engine and the PTFE tube connected to the throttle actuator (Figure 9).

- Route the harness under the hour meter cable and through the relief in the engine brace that the hour meter is mounted to (Figure 10).

- Secure the ground wire terminal to the engine block using the engine shroud fastener removed earlier. Orient the ground wire upward so that it follows the contour of the shroud, then over toward the outside of the unit (Figure 11).

- Route the engine heater harness under the ground cable and toward the recoil pull start (Figure 12).

- Connect the engine heater harness to the cold climate harness (Figure 13).

- Gently pull the cold climate harness toward the WHASP Tank to remove any slack.
- Install the loom clip and P-clip and secure the harness (Figure 14).

- Secure the harness to the P-clip using 2 of the supplied cable ties (Figure 15).

- Secure the engine heater cartridge connector to the cold climate harness (Figure 16).

- Route the cold climate harness up behind the discharge valve and secure it to the compressor brace using the supplied loom clip (Figure 17).

- Connect the compressor heater cartridge to the cold climate harness (Figure 18).

- Connect the compressor heater harness to the PTFE tube connected to the air bleed muffler using one of the supplied cable ties (Figure 19).

Power Inverter Installation Best Practices
VMAC recommends using an inverter rated for a minimum of 800 W continuous power.- Follow the installation instructions for the inverter.
- Mount the inverter in the cab whenever possible.
- If mounting in the cab is not practical, mount the inverter where it will be protected from the elements, such as a tool cabinet.
- Use a grounded, 3-prong extension cord suitable for 1000 W to connect between the inverter and the cold climate kit harness.
- Mount the circuit breaker in a protected location near the battery.
Operation
The cold climate kit must be turned off before starting the G30 Air Compressor engine, and must remain off for the duration of engine operation.- VMAC is unable to provide specific warming times as variations in air temperature and gas engine-driven 30 CFM Air Compressor mounting locations will affect the time it takes to warm the compressor system.
- The heaters may need to be on for 30 minutes or more before starting the engine to allow sufficient time for the system to warm up; this can generally be accomplished while driving to work.
- Ensure the vehicle engine is running while the cold climate kit is enabled as the inverter’s current draw is capable of draining the batteries quite rapidly.
- Turn the inverter switch on.
- Once the system has warmed sufficiently turn the inverter off.
- If operating the gas engine-driven 30 CFM Air Compressor in extreme temperatures, special considerations may be required.
- The VMAC Cold Climate Kit (P/N: A500044) is not equipped with a timer or automatic shut-off.
Once the unit has warmed up, turn off or unplug the inverter; alternatively, the cold climate kit can be connected to a switch allowing the heaters to be turned off while the inverter supplies power.
