  1. I have a Trane TCONT302. I want to get it out of the program schedule…upper right corner next to temp has “HOLD AT” word. Lower right corner has scheduled program button. Question

How do I remove the 'HOLD AT' status and return to the normal schedule on my Trane TCONT302 thermostat?

    Answer

The "HOLD AT" message on your Trane TCONT302 indicates that the thermostat is currently in a Timed Override (TOV) mode, which pauses your programmed schedule. To return to your normal scheduled operation and see the "SET AT" display again, you can use one of the following methods:

    • Cancel the Override: Press and hold the Run Schedule button (or the button in the lower right corner associated with the schedule) for approximately 2 seconds.
    • Change the System Mode: If you change the system selection (for example, switching from Heat to Cool, or to Off and back), this action will typically take the thermostat out of the TOV/Hold mode.

Once the override is cancelled, the solid hourglass icon should disappear from the bottom of the screen, and the thermostat will resume following your pre-set temperature periods.

    Manuals+ clarified question
    Question

What does error code 2 mean on a Trane thermostat model 1577?

    Answer

On many Trane thermostats, an Error 2 (or E2) typically indicates a sensor failure, most commonly an issue with the indoor temperature sensor or an external remote sensor if one is connected.

To troubleshoot this issue, please try the following steps:

    • Power Cycle: Turn off the power to your HVAC system at the breaker for 30 seconds, then turn it back on to see if the code clears.
    • Check Wiring: If you have a remote sensor installed, ensure the wires are securely connected to the thermostat terminals and have not become loose or corroded.
    • Verify Model: While the provided manual covers general setup for Trane programmable thermostats, specific error codes can vary by exact model series. If the error persists after a power cycle, it usually indicates that the internal thermistor has failed and the unit may need to be replaced by a qualified technician.

Carlos asks Se puso un triangulo room una t_. máster y no funciona no se que aser

    Question

What does a triangle icon on my Trane thermostat mean and why is it not working?

    Answer

A triangle icon on a Trane thermostat typically indicates a system alert or error. Because you mentioned it is not functioning, this often signifies that the thermostat has detected a fault with the HVAC system or a communication error.

To troubleshoot this issue, please try the following steps:

    • Check for Error Codes: Look for a number or specific text accompanying the triangle. This code helps identify if the issue is related to the filter, the furnace, or the outdoor unit.
    • Power Cycle: Turn off the power to your HVAC system at the breaker for 30 seconds, then turn it back on to see if the error clears.
    • Check the Battery: If your model uses batteries as a backup, ensure they are fresh, though most Trane programmable thermostats require a 'C' wire for primary power.
    • Service Required: If the triangle persists and the system does not start, it may indicate a hardware failure. You should contact a qualified Trane technician to perform diagnostics on the system.
