Please make sure you read the quick setup guide carefully. Following and respecting the instructions in your manual will prevent damage to your instrument and loss of your statutory rights arising from defects due to incorrect use. We shall not be liable for any damage occurring as a result of non-following of these instructions. Likewise, we take no responsibility for any incorrect readings or for any consequences resulting from them.

This product should only be used as described within these instructions. Unauthorised repairs, alterations or changes to the product are prohibited.

CAUTION!
Risk of electrocution!

  • Plug the base station only into a mains socket installed within your country’s electrical safety regulations and with a correct mains voltage (see nameplate).
  • The mains socket must be located near the equipment and it must be easily accessible.
  • Unplug the device immediately if any fault occurs.
  • The base station and the power adapter must not come into contact with water or moisture. Suitable for indoor use only.
  • Do not use the device if the housing or the power adapter are damaged.
  • Operate the device out of reach of persons (including children) who cannot fully appreciate the potential risks of handling electrical equipment.
  • Only use the supplied power adapter.
  • Route the mains cable so it does not come into contact with sharp-edged or hot objects.

Important information on product safety!

  • Do not expose the devices to extreme temperatures, vibrations or shocks.
  • Clean the devices with a soft damp cloth. Do not use solvents or scouring agents.
  • Remove the batteries from all devices if you do not use the products for a long period of time.
  • Store the devices in a dry place.

WARNING!

  • Keep the devices and the batteries out of reach of children.
  • Small parts can be swallowed by children (under three years old).
  • Batteries contain harmful acids and may be hazardous if swallowed. If a battery is swallowed, this can lead to serious internal burns and death within two hours. If you suspect a battery could have been swallowed or otherwise caught in the body, seek medical help immediately.
  • Batteries must not be thrown into a fire, short-circuited, taken apart or recharged. Risk of explosion!
  • Low batteries should be changed as soon as possible to prevent damage caused by leaking. Make sure the polarities are correct. Never use a combination of old and new batteries together, nor batteries of different types.
  • Remove the batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period of time.
  • Avoid contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes when handling leaking batteries. In case of contact, immediately rinse the affected areas with water and consult a doctor!

Waste disposal
This product and its packaging have been manufactured using high-grade materials and components which can be recycled and reused.
This reduces waste and protects the environment. Dispose of the packaging in an environmentally friendly manner using the collection systems that have been set up.

Disposal of the electrical device

Remove non-permanently installed batteries and rechargeable batteries from the device and dispose of them separately. This product is labelled in accordance with the EU Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE). This product must not be disposed of in ordinary household waste. As a consumer, you are required to take end-of-life devices to a designated collection point for the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment, in order to ensure environmentally-compatible disposal. The return service is free of charge. Observe the current regulations in place!

Disposal of the batteries

  • Never dispose of empty batteries and rechargeable batteries with ordinary household waste. They contain pollutants such as heavy metals, which can be harmful to the environment and human health if disposed of improperly, and valuable raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese or nickel that can be recovered from waste. As a consumer, you are required by law to take them to your retail store or to an appropriate collection site depending on national or local regulations in order to protect the environment. The return service is free of charge.
  • You can obtain addresses of suitable collection points from your city council or local authority.
  • The symbols for the contained heavy metals are: Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead.
  • Reduce the generation of waste from batteries by using batteries with a longer lifespan or suitable rechargeable batteries. Avoid littering the environment and do not leave batteries or battery-containing electrical and electronic devices lying around carelessly.
  • The separate collection and recycling of batteries and rechargeable batteries make an important contribution to relieving the impact on the environment and avoiding health risks.

INSTALLATION

Step 1

  • To start up your TFA.me station, it must fi rst be connected to the Internet via your WiFi network. Following this it is necessary to confi gure the location.
  • Please have your network password to hand.
  • Connect the attached power adapter to the base station. Open the battery compartment of the base station.
  • Insert three new AA 1.5 V batteries, polarity as illustrated.
  • Note: The batteries will operate as a backup power source in case of power failure or change of location and maintain operation.
  • Hold the GATEWAY button on the base station for three seconds.
  • The station is now in the access-point mode.
  • Note: The GATEWAY button is located inside the battery compartment of the station.

Step 2

Setup with smartphone or tablet

  • Please deactivate the Internet connection via mobile data/network reception for the duration of the installation.
  • Then open your WiFi settings and establish a connection to the station.
  • You can recognise it by the name of the network and the station ID „TFA-ME-ID-XXX-XXX-XXX“.
  • Note: The smartphone/tablet often reports shortly after connection that there is no Internet connection via this device. This is initially unimportant and can be ignored

Setup with a computer
Open your network administration and establish a connection to the station via WiFi. You can recognise it by the name of the network and the station ID „TFA-ME-ID-XXX-XXX-XXX“.
Note: Update the list of available networks if the station‘s WiFi is not displayed.

Step 3

Setup with WiFi CONNECTION
Open the „me.local“ page on your smartphone, tablet or computer using any internet browser.
Select your network (WiFi) on the page, enter the corresponding password and confi rm your entry with ENTER.
If reception is successful, a short signal tone sounds at the station. The WiFi symbol is displayed statically when the connection has been established
Note: As an alternative to „me.local“, the IP address „192.168.8.1“ can also be entered in the browser.

IMPORTANT! Your WiFi router must support the 2.4 GHz radio standard. For multi-band routers that support 2.4 and 5 GHz, the 2.4 GHz network must be switched on.

Step 4

Online platform TFA.me

  • Open the „go.tfa.me“ via any Internet browser. Select „Set Location“ and follow the instructions to determine your location.
  • The station then receives the correct local time and the weather forecast for this location.
  • Once the location has been set, the setup of the base station is complete.
  • Note: You can use your TFA.me weather station and receive weather data without registering. Registration and an account are only necessary if you want to query the local measured values of your TFA.me devices online via the platform.

Step 5

Power up the transmitter (manually)

  • Open the transmitter‘s battery compartment.
  • Insert two new AA 1.5 V batteries, polarity as illustrated.
  • All LCD segments will be displayed for a short moment.
  • Then a version info appears briefl y.
  • Select the desired channel with the CHANNEL button on the base station.
  • Start the manual transmitter search by pressing the CHANNEL button on the base station for 3 seconds. The reception symbol for the outdoor transmitter will be fl ashing.
  • Now briefl y press the TX button in the battery compartment of the transmitter.
  • The measured values will be transmitted manually.
  • The transmitter has its own ID number (nine digits, alphanumeric). A sticker with the ID number is attached to the transmitter (usually in the battery compartment).
    Note:
    Place the transmitter at your chosen location. Should you decide to use the transmitter in the outdoor area, choose a shady and dry place. Direct sunlight may trigger incorrect measurement and continuous humidity damages the electronic components needlessly.

Step 6 (optional)

Multiple transmitters

  • When showing more than one outdoor transmitter (max. 5) on the base station‘s display, insert new batteries in all transmitters, polarity as illustrated.
  • Then restart the base station operation or start the manual search for the outdoor transmitters
  • When restarting, the station searches for free channels for which no station has yet been stored.
  • The transmitters will be numbered on channel 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 automatically.
  • Press the CHANNEL button to change between the channels 1 to 5. The ID number of the received transmitter appears for a short time and the outdoor values are indicated on the display of the base station.
