Put the speakers on a flat safe surface.

Do not hang the speakers from the ceiling or on the wall. Doing so may cause the speaker to fall off, causing personal injury.
Do not place any objects in the bass reflex ports on the front of the speakers. Doing so may cause fire or personal injury. Pay close attention to children.

AC mains lead

To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or product damage,
- Ensure that the power supply voltage corresponds to the voltage printed on this unit.
- Insert the mains plug fully into the socket outlet.
- Do not pull, bend, or place heavy items on the lead.
- Do not handle the plug with wet hands.
- Hold onto the mains plug body when disconnecting the plug.
- Do not use a damaged mains plug or socket outlet.
The mains plug is the disconnecting device. Install this unit so that the mains plug can be unplugged from the socket outlet immediately.
Ensure the earth pin on the mains plug is securely connected to prevent electrical shock.
- An apparatus with CLASS I construction shall be connected to a mains socket outlet with a protective earth connection.

Caution
Unit

Do not place sources of naked flames, such as lighted candles, on this unit.

This unit may receive radio interference caused by mobile telephones during use. If such interference occurs, please increase separation between this unit and the mobile telephone.
This unit is intended for use in moderate and tropical climates.
Do not put any objects on this unit. This unit becomes hot while it is on.

Do not stand on the speakers.
Do not place heavy items on the speakers.
Do not hold the speaker in one hand to avoid injury by dropping the speaker when carrying.

The speakers and speaker nets use powerful magnets. Do not put them near TVs, PCs or other equipment easily influenced by magnetism.
You can damage your speakers and shorten their useful life if you play sound at high levels over extended periods.
Do not touch the diaphragms. Doing so may deform the diaphragms, and as a result, sound may not be output correctly.

Be cautious when children are near.
Do not insert a finger into the bass reflex ports on the front of the speakers. Pay close attention to children as doing so may cause personal injury.

Placement

Place this unit on an even surface.
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or product damage,
- Do not install or place this unit in a bookcase, built-in cabinet or in another confined space. Ensure this unit is well ventilated.
- Do not obstruct this unit’s ventilation openings with newspapers, tablecloths, curtains, and similar items.
- Do not expose this unit to direct sunlight, high temperatures, high humidity, and excessive vibration.

Battery

Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the type recommended by the manufacturer.
Mishandling of batteries can cause electrolyte leakage and may cause a fire.
- Remove the battery if you do not intend to use the remote control for a long period of time. Store in a cool, dark place.
- Do not heat or expose to flame.
- Do not leave the battery(ies) in a car exposed to direct sunlight for a long period of time with doors and windows closed.
- Do not expose to low air pressure at high altitudes.
- Do not expose to extremely low air pressure, as this may result in explosions or leakage of flammable liquids and gases.
- Do not take apart or short circuit.
- Do not recharge alkaline or manganese batteries.
- Do not use batteries if the covering has been peeled off.
- Do not mix old and new batteries or different types at the same time.
When disposing of the batteries, please contact your local authorities or dealer and ask for the correct method of disposal.

Avoid the use in the following condition
- High or low extreme temperatures during use, storage or transportation.
- Replacement of a battery with an incorrect type.
- Disposal of a battery into fire or a hot oven, or mechanically crushing or cutting of a battery, that can result in an explosion.
- Extremely high temperature and/or extremely low air pressure that can result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas.

Caution for AC Mains Lead
(For the AC mains plug of three pins)
For your safety, please read the following text carefully. This appliance is supplied with a moulded three pin mains plug for your safety and convenience. A 10-ampere fuse is fitted in this plug. Should the fuse need to be replaced please ensure that the replacement fuse has a rating of 10-ampere and that it is approved by ASTA or BSI to BS1362. Check for the ASTA mark or the BSI mark on the body of the fuse. If the plug contains a removable fuse cover you must ensure that it is refitted when the fuse is replaced. If you lose the fuse cover the plug must not be used until a replacement cover is obtained.
A replacement fuse cover can be purchased from your local dealer.

Before use
Remove the connector cover.

How to replace the fuse
The location of the fuse differ according to the type of AC mains plug (figures A and B). Confirm the AC mains plug fitted and follow the instructions below. Illustrations may differ from actual AC mains plug.

Open the fuse cover with a screwdriver.

Replace the fuse and close or attach the fuse cover.

About this unit

Installation

Turn this unit off and disconnect all the equipment before moving this unit. Be sure to raise this unit when moving, and do not drag this unit.

Confirm the installation location can sustain the weight of this unit.

Attaching and removing the speaker nets

The speaker nets protect the speaker units from dust. Use the magnets to fix the speaker nets to the speakers.

Attach the speaker nets so that they fully cover the speaker units.
Attach the speaker nets at the positions to meet the magnets and there is no specific direction of up and down, left and right.

The superior sound quality can be delivered when playing back without the speaker nets.
When carrying this unit, do not hold the speaker net.

To dispose of or transfer this unit

Before disposing of or transferring this unit, be sure to erase all setting information by restoring the settings to factory default .
Before you dispose of or transfer this unit to a third party, be sure to log out of your music streaming services accounts to prevent unauthorised use of your accounts.

Notes on use

To protect the speakers from damage caused by excessive input, observe the following precautions:

Reduce the volume in the following cases to avoid damage:
- When playing distorted sound.
- When the speakers are receiving howling from a microphone or record player, noise from FM broadcasts, or continuous signals from an oscillator, test disc, or electronic instrument.
- When adjusting the sound quality.
You can damage your speakers and shorten their useful life if you play sound at high levels over extended periods.

Unit care
Pull out the AC mains lead from the socket before maintenance.

Top / Rear of this unit

Lightly brush with a clothing brush.

If the dirt is severe, dampen a soft, clean cloth with lukewarm water, wring it out tightly, and gently wipe the surface to remove stains.

Note

Do not touch the front diaphragm of the speaker when cleaning.

Do not use solvents including benzine, thinner, alcohol, kitchen detergent, chemical wiper, etc. Doing so may cause the exterior case to be deformed or the coating to come off.
Stains from oil-based markers or special chemicals cannot be removed.

Front/Left and Right Sides
(Suede-Like Artificial Leather)

Dampen a soft, clean cloth with lukewarm water (approximately 40 °C), wring it out tightly, and gently pat the surface to remove stains. After cleaning, smooth the surface using a soft, dry brush.

Note

Avoid vigorous rubbing as it may cause discoloration or damage to the surface.

If stains persist after patting, lightly brush the surface to remove them.

Using “Technics Audio Center”
If you install the dedicated app “Technics Audio Center” (free of charge) on your tablet/smartphone, you can stream music files from the device on your network to this unit and configure the settings of sound quality, etc.

You can set up the sound adjustment and other settings from the “Technics Audio Center” app.

Firmware updates
From time to time, Panasonic may release updated firmware for this unit, enhancing or adding new features. These updates are available at no additional cost.

Initialisation (To restore all the settings to the factory defaults)

Disconnect the AC mains lead from the primary speaker.
- Wait 30 seconds before you continue with step 2.
While pressing and holding [ ] on the top of the primary speaker, connect the AC mains lead again.
- Keep holding down [] until the two LED indicators (NET/ ) on top left end light up and a beep sounds.
Release [ ] on the top of the primary speaker.
- The progress of the initialisation is indicated by the blinking of the LED indicator. When initialisation is complete, a beep sounds, all the LED indicators on the top of this unit light up for 2 seconds, and the unit turns off.
- All the settings are set back to the factory default except wireless connection information between primary and secondary speakers.

LED indicators
The LED indicators on this unit light up in the following manner to indicate the current status.
- If an abnormality occurs, all the LED indicators on the top of this unit blink 3 times quickly and then repeat. Press [ ] on this unit to turn it on/off. If the problem persists, disconnect the AC mains lead, wait for at least 3 minutes, and then reconnect it. Refer to “Troubleshooting” in the “Operating Instructions” (PDF format) ( 06) for details.
Touch switch
- Each time you touch the switch, a beep is heard and the input source changes.
- You can turn the beep sound on/off from the “Technics Audio Center” app.
Standby/on button ()
- Press to switch the unit from on to standby mode or vice versa. In standby mode, the unit is still consuming a small amount of power.
Mute button (MUTE)
- Press again to cancel. Muting is also cancelled when you adjust the volume or when you turn the unit to standby.
- While muted, the LED indicator on the top of this unit blinks at the current volume level, and the power indicator on the front of this unit also blinks.
Built-in microphone (for measurement)
Volume control buttons (-/+)
- When turning on this unit or adjusting the volume, the 7 LED indicators on the top of this unit light up to show the approximate current volume.
  - The LED indicators increase from left to right as the volume increases.
  - The number of lit LED indicators may not change even when adjusting the volume.
  - The volume value can be confirmed using the “Technics Audio Center” app.
- The LED indicators blink while muted.

P/S LINK terminals (P/S LINK)
- Use the Speaker Link cable (supplied) to connect the primary and secondary speakers for a wired connection. ( 14)
Analogue audio output terminal (SUBWOOFER OUT)
- You can connect the subwoofer, etc. with analogue audio cable (not supplied) to output the analogue audio signals.
  You can set up the output from SUBWOOFER OUT from the “Technics Audio Center” app. (The factory default is “On”.)
P/S CONNECT button (primary speaker)
Use this button to pair and register the speakers again after repair or replacement, although the primary and secondary speakers are wirelessly paired by factory default. Refer to “Operating Instructions” (PDF format) ( 06) for details.
L/R ASSIGN switch
- When switching the assignment (Left/Right) of primary speaker, the secondary speaker is automatically assigned to the opposite channel.
HDMI terminal (HDMI ARC)
You can connect the HDMI equipment with ARC function (TV, etc.) with HDMI cable (not supplied) to this unit and play back music.

You can connect the PC, etc. or another device with USB 2.0 cable (not supplied) to this unit and play back music.

You can connect a digital audio output device, etc. with optical digital audio cable (not supplied) and play back music.
AC IN terminal (∼ )
Analogue audio input terminal (AUX)
You can connect an analogue audio output device with analogue audio cable (not supplied) to this unit and play back music.
Analogue audio input terminals (PHONO)
You can connect the turntable with PHONO cable (not supplied) to this unit and play back music.
- Please use the cable less than 3 m.
PHONO EARTH terminal
- For connecting the ground wire of a turntable.
P/S CONNECT button (secondary speaker)
Use this button to pair and register the speakers again after repair or replacement, although the primary and secondary speakers are wirelessly paired by factory default. Refer to “Operating Instructions” (PDF format) (06) for details.

Remote control

[ ]: Standby/on switch
Press to switch the unit from on to standby mode or vice versa. In standby mode, the unit is still consuming a small amount of power.
[DIMMER]: Adjust the brightness of the LED indicators and power indicator
All the LED indicators and the power indicator turn off when pressing and holding [DIMMER] for 4 seconds. Press again to cancel.
[ > ]/[ < ]/[NET]/[ ]/[OPT]/[HDMI]/[USB]/[AUX]/ [PHONO]: Switch the input source
Start the adjustment with the Space Tune function
Playback operation buttons
[-VOL+]: Adjust the volume
- When turning on this unit or adjusting the volume, the 7 LED indicators on the top of this unit light up to show the approximate current volume.
  - The LED indicators increase from left to right as the volume increases.
  - The number of lit LED indicators may not change even when adjusting the volume.
  - The volume value can be confirmed using the “Technics Audio Center” app.
- The LED indicators blink while muted.
  [MUTE]: Mute the sound
- Press again to cancel. Muting is also cancelled when you adjust the volume or when you turn the unit to standby.
- While muted, the LED indicator on the top of this unit blinks at the current volume level, and the power indicator on the front of this unit also blinks.

Using the remote control

Note

Insert the battery so the terminals ( and ) match those in the remote control.
Point it at the remote control signal sensor on this unit.
Keep the batteries out of reach of children to prevent swallowing.

Connections

Speaker settings
Speaker Assignments (L/R) (Left/Right)
You can assign each of the two speakers to either the left or right according to your installation environment.

When switching the assignment (L/R) of primary speaker, the secondary speaker is automatically assigned to the opposite channel.
After changing the speaker assignment (L/R), turn this unit off and then on again.

Speaker connection
When you connect the AC mains leads to the primary and secondary speakers and turn them on, the speakers automatically connect wirelessly. Once the connection is established, the power indicators on the front of both speakers light up.

Note

If the connection fails, the power indicator on the front of this unit blinks every 3 times, repeating every 3 seconds. Turn this unit off and on to reconnect the speakers. And you can also connect by pressing and holding P/S CONNECT button on back of the primary speaker for 2 seconds. (All the LED indicators on the top of this unit blink.)
If the speakers still cannot connect, disconnect the AC mains leads from both speakers, wait for 30 seconds, then reconnect the AC mains leads and turn them on.
For higher sound quality or if the connection is unstable causing noise or interrupting sound on the secondary speaker, use a wired connection with the supplied speaker link cable.

Digital audio output device connection

When enjoying video contents with this function, the video and audio output may not be synchronised.
The digital audio input terminals of this unit can only detect the following linear PCM signals. For details, refer to the operating instructions of the connected device.
Sampling frequency: 32/44.1/48/88.2/96 kHz
Number of quantisation bits: 16/24 bit

Connecting HDMI equipment with ARC function (TV, etc.)

Use Premium High Speed HDMI cables when connecting to peripheral devices.
Connect this unit to the HDMI input terminal which has ARC (Audio Return Channel) function.
Set the audio output signal to PCM in the settings of the connected HDMI equipment (TV, etc.).
Set the audio output from TV speakers to Off. For details, refer to the operating instructions of the TV.

Note

Linear PCM signal is only available for ARC function.
Do not input the signals other than linear PCM signal, otherwise it may cause noise or damage.
When using an input source other than HDMI while HDMI equipment is connected, you can disable the linking features with the connected HDMI equipment (such as HDMI Power On Link, HDMI Selector Link, etc.). (The factory default is “On”.)

The volume may be lower depending on the connected TV.

Connecting PC, etc.

Note

The USB-C terminal of this unit is for data transfer only and does not support charging USB devices.
For the recommended OS for your PC, dedicated driver software (Windows OS only) and applications, refer to “Operating Instructions” (PDF format) .

Analogue audio output device connection

When connecting a turntable with a built- in PHONO equalizer, turn the equalizer of turntable off or connect the PHONO cable to the analogue audio input terminals (PHONO) of this unit.
When connecting a turntable with a PHONO earth lead, connect the PHONO earth lead to the PHONO EARTH terminal of this unit.

Note

Tighten the PHONO EARTH terminal using a Phillips head screwdriver.
If noise occurs during the playback of an analog audio device, move the devices that emit radio waves, such as Wi-Fi routers or smartphones, away from this unit to reduce the noise.

AC mains lead connection
Connect only after all other connections are completed.

Use only the supplied AC mains lead.
Insert the plugs of the cables to be connected all the way in.
Do not bend cables at sharp angles.
Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi®) setting may start when this unit is turned on for the first time, and the LED indicator (NET) on the top of this unit blinks.
- I f you stop the Wi-Fi setting, switch the input source by pressing the touch switch on the top of this unit.
- I f Wi-Fi setting is enabled, the LED indicator (NET) on the top of this unit blinks each time this unit is turned on. If you do not use the network function, pressing and holding [NET] on the remote disables Wi-Fi setting and this unit switches to the previously selected input source when turning on.
The LED indicator (NET) does not blink when a LAN cable is connected.
All the LED indicators on the top of this unit softly flicker for several seconds during the power operation. When turning on this unit, the LED indicators slowly flicker before showing the current volume level. (If the network connection is not established, the LED indicator (NET) on the top of this unit blinks.)

Note

When this unit is turned on, the power indicator of the primary speaker lights up first, and when this unit is turned off, the power indicator of the secondary speaker turns off first.
This unit consumes a small amount of AC power (24) even when the unit is in standby mode. Remove the plug from the main electrical outlet if you will not be using the unit for an extended period of time. Place the unit so the plug can be easily removed.

Network settings

You can stream online music services or music files from your smartphone/tablet to this unit. To use these features, this system must join the same internet-connected network as the compatible device.

This unit can be connected to a router using a LAN cable or built-in Wi-Fi®.
For a stable connection to the network, a wired LAN connection is recommended.

Note

After completing the network connection, the LED indicator (NET) on the top of this unit lights up when switching the input source to ”NET”.(If the network connection is not established, it blinks.)
When the firmware update for this unit is available, the power indicator on the front of the primary speaker softly flickers every 10 seconds.

Preparation
If you install the “Technics Audio Center” app on your smartphone/tablet, you can set up a connection using the application.

When using Google Cast™-enabled apps to play music on this unit, set up a connection using the “Technics Audio Center” app and a Google Assistant-enabled device.
When using AirPlay to play music on this unit, add the product to Home in the Apple Home app. Adding this unit to the network via Apple Home app will also allow the user to stream audio using Siri.
Make sure that the Wi-Fi function and Bluetooth® function are activated on your smartphones/tablet.
1. Install the “Technics Audio Center” app on your smartphone/tablet.
2. Connect your smartphone/tablet to the same network as this unit before setting.
  - Make sure that the network is connected to the Internet.

Wired LAN connection

Disconnect the AC mains lead.
Connect this unit to a broadband router, etc. using a LAN cable.
Connect the AC mains lead to this unit.
Press [ ] to turn this unit on.
If the network connection is not established, the LED indicator (NET) on the top of this unit blinks when the input source is switched to “NET”. Reset the settings from the step 1.
Open the “Technics Audio Center” app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up a connection.

Note

While the AC mains lead is disconnected, the LAN cable must be connected or disconnected.
Use category 7 or above straight LAN cables (STP) when connecting to peripheral devices.
Inserting any cable other than a LAN cable in the LAN port can damage the unit.
When a LAN cable is connected, the Wi-Fi function may be disabled. (The LED indicator does not blink.)

Wireless LAN connection

Preparation

Disconnect the AC mains lead.
Disconnect the LAN cable.
Connect the AC mains lead to this unit.

Note

The setting will be cancelled after the set time limit. In that case, try the setting again.
To cancel this setting in the middle, switch the input source by pressing touch switch on the top of this unit.
When the network connection is established, all the LED indicators on the top and power indicator on the front of the primary speaker light up for 2 seconds.

Wireless setup for the first time using app

Press [ ] to turn this unit on.
The LED indicator (NET) on the top and power indicator on the front of this unit blink every second simultaneously.
Open the “Technics Audio Center” app.
Select “Click here for wireless setup for your new main unit”.
Select this unit and follow the on-screen instructions to set the network.

Note

This unit will be displayed as “Technics-SC-CX700-****” if the device name is not set.(“****” stands for characters unique to each set.)

When resetting the wireless setup

Press and hold [NET] on this unit for 5 seconds.
- After a beep sounds once, the LED indicator (NET) on the top and power indicator on the front of this unit blink simultaneously every second.
Open the “Technics Audio Center” app.
Select “Click here for wireless setup for your new main unit”.
Select this unit and follow the on-screen instructions to set the network.

Note

This unit will be displayed as “Technics-SC-CX700-****” if the device name is not set.(“****” stands for characters unique to each set.)
You can check your network information (SSID, MAC address and IP address) from the “Technics Audio Center” app.

Streaming music over the network

This unit is compatible with Google Cast-enabled apps. For detailed information of Google Cast-enabled apps, visit: g.co/cast/apps
You can also stream music files from the device on your network to this unit by using the “Technics Audio Center” app. Download and install the app from the website below.

You can also stream music over AirPlay.

Preparation

Complete the network settings.
(Make sure that the network is connected to the Internet.)
Install the supported application on your device.
Connect the device to the network currently used at home.
1. Open a Google Cast-enabled app, AirPlay-enabled app or “Technics Audio Center” app on your device (smartphone, tablet, etc.), and select this unit as the output speaker.
2. Play back the music.

Playback

Online music streaming services (NET)
You can stream music services (Internet Radio / Podcasts / Spotify / TIDAL / Deezer / Amazon Music / Qobuz / Google Cast / AirPlay, etc.) with this unit by using the “Technics Audio Center” app.

Complete the network settings.
1. Press [NET].
  - The LED indicator (NET) on the top of this unit lights up.
2. Open the “Technics Audio Center” app and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note

Depending on the network connection, the LED indicator (NET) on the top of this unit may blink. Confirm the network connection and settings.

Using Bluetooth®

Registering the Bluetooth® device

Turn on the Bluetooth® feature of the device and place the device near this unit.
If a Bluetooth® device is already connected, disconnect it.
1. Press [ ].
  - The LED indicator ( ) on the top of this unit blinks every 2 seconds during the initial device registration. If any device has been registered before, this unit automatically tries to connect to it.
  - By pressing and holding [ ] this unit starts waiting for registering. (The LED indicator ( ) on the top of this unit blinks every 2 seconds.)
2. Select “Technics-SC-CX700-****” from the Bluetooth® device’s menu.
  - The LED indicator ( ) on the top and power indicator on the front of this unit blink every second while pairing.
  - The MAC address “****” (“****” stands for a character that is unique to each set.) may be displayed before “Technics-SC-CX700-****” is displayed.
  - If the device name is set in your application, the set name is displayed.

Note

If prompted for the passkey, input “0000”.

Listening to music stored on a Bluetooth® device

Press [ ].
- The LED indicator ( ) on the top of this unit lights up when connection is established.
  (The LED indicator blinks while connecting.)
Select “Technics-SC-CX700-****” from the Bluetooth® device’s menu.
- If the device name is set in your application, the set name is displayed.
Start playback on the Bluetooth® device.

Note

To use this unit with a Bluetooth® device, the Bluetooth® device must support AVRCP (Audio Video Remote Control Profile). Depending on the status of the device, some controls may not work.
When enjoying video contents with this function, the video and audio output may not be synchronised.
This unit can only be connected to one device at a time.
The Bluetooth® device will be disconnected if a different audio source is selected.

External equipment
(OPT/HDMI/USB/AUX/PHONO)

You can connect the several equipment (OPT/HDMI/USB/AUX/PHONO) to this unit and play back music.

Connect the equipment.
1. Press [OPT] / [HDMI] / [USB] / [AUX] / [PHONO].
  - The LED indicator on the top of this unit lights up.
  - If no device is connected, playing is not in progress, or the file format is not supported, the LED indicators (OPT/HDMI/USB) on the top of this unit may blink.
2. Start playback on the connected device.

Adjusting with the Space Tune function
You can adjust the sound quality automatically according to the installation location (near the wall or the corner of the room). Press and hold [S.TUNE AUTO] on your remote control for 2 seconds to start the sound adjustment.

Connect the primary and secondary speakers before adjusting.
A test tone outputs quite big while the measurement is in progress.
The progress of the adjustment is indicated by the blinking of the LED indicator on the top of this unit. When the adjustment is complete, all the LED indicators on the top of this unit light up for 2 seconds.
If the adjustment fails, a beep sounds 3 times, and all the LED indicators on the top and power indicator on the front of this unit blink for 3 times. Press and hold [S.TUNE AUTO] for 2 seconds to set the adjustment again.
You can set up details using “Technics Audio Center” app.
With the volume set to minimum, press and hold the [-] button of the volume control on this unit, then press [S.TUNE AUTO] to cancel the setting.

This unit does not support the playback of copy-protected music files.
Playback of all files in formats supported by this unit is not guaranteed.
Playback of a file in a format not supported by this unit may cause choppy audio or noise. In such cases, check to see if this unit supports the file format.

Files larger than 2 GB cannot be played.
