INSTRUCTION MANUAL
The Tapo C460 is a battery-powered Wi‑Fi security camera designed for wire-free placement. It offers 4K (8MP) clarity, starlight color night vision with built-in spotlights, AI detection for people/pets/vehicles, flexible storage options (microSD up to 512GB or Tapo Care cloud), an adjustable magnetic base, and an IP66 weatherproof rating.
Quick Setup & Use
- Charge the battery: The battery is partially charged; fully charge it using the included USB cable (USB Type‑C). When plugged in, the LED should blink amber quickly for 3 seconds.
- Install/remove protective materials: Peel off the film from the camera before use.
- Download the Tapo app: Install the Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Log in: Open the app and sign in with your TP‑Link ID (create an account if needed).
- Add the camera: Tap “+” in the app, search/select your model, and follow the app instructions to complete setup.
- Mount the camera: Use the adjustable magnetic base or wall mounting options. For best results, keep the motion sensor level and tilt the camera downwards at about 20 degrees.
- Set up local storage (optional): Open the microSD card slot cover, insert a microSD card (not included), and initialize it in the Tapo app for local recording.

1. 200-day battery life is based on Tapo laboratory tests with 270s of use per day. The time of use includes recording and watching live views. Actual battery life may vary due to device settings, usage, router speciLcations, and environmental factors.

7. Power Button: Press and hold for about 3 seconds to turn on/oc the camera.

10. Reset Button: Press and hold for 5s: Reset Wi-Fi while keep other settings; Press and hold for 10s: Reset to factory settings.

Set Up Your Camera
Follow the steps below to get started with your new camera.
Step 1. Charge the Battery
The battery comes partially charged. We recommend that you fully charge the battery before use. This will take about Nve and a half hours.

Notes:
1. Peel oc Llm from the camera before use.
2. Charge the battery using the USB cable included in the package. Inappropriate cables may result in slow charging or failure to charge.
3. When you plug in the USB charger, the LED should blink amber quickly for 3 seconds. If not, make sure the power is running and check your connection.
4. Warning: Do not tear oc the silicone part by force as it may acect the waterproof performance.
5. The camera may not power up after falling. Plug in the USB charger to power it on again.
6. Keep the ports Lrmly covered when not in use to ensure waterproof performance.
7. Check the battery status on the Tapo app after setup.
Step 2. Download Tapo App
Get the Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play, or by scanning the QR code below.

Step 3. Log In
Open the app, and log in with your TP-Link ID. If you don’t have an account, create one Lrst.

Step 4. Add Your Camera
Tap the + button in the app and search for your model. Follow the app instructions to complete setup.

Set Up Using Amazon Frustration-Free Setup
What is Amazon Frustration-Free Setup?
Amazon Frustration-Free Setup can help connect and set up Tapo smart devices in fewer steps, without having to remember and re-enter your Wi-Fi password on each device.
To use this feature, conLrm the following:
- The new Tapo device supports Amazon FFS.
- The new Tapo device is purchased from Amazon.
- You have an Amazon FFS enabled Alexa device or router.
- You have saved your Wi-Fi information to Amazon by using Alexa echo.
- Your Tapo device and router are on the same network as your Alexa echo.
LED Indications during Amazon Frustration-Free Setup

If the LED does not turn solid blue after a long time, you can try to add the Tapo device manually.(Press the Reset button on your Tapo device once. Then open the Tapo app, tap the + button on the page, select your device model, and follow the app instructions. )
How to use Amazon Frustration-Free Setup with Tapo devices
1. Open the Amazon Alexa app. Then tap More and select Skills & Games.

2. Enter Tapo in the search bar and choose Tapo.

3. Tap the ENABLE TO USE button.

4. Log in with your TP-Link ID that has bound to your Tapo device, and tap Authorize. After authorized successfully, the message Tapo has been successfully linked will come up.


5. Plug in your Tapo device and the setup will complete automatically in two minutes.
For setting up more Tapo devices, just plug in and enjoy!
Done!
If this device displays on the Home page in the Tapo app, it indicates this device has been successfully associated with your Amazon account and joined your Wi-Fi network automatically. If this device does not display on the Home page in the Tapo app, try setting it up manually. (Tap the + button on the page, select your device model, and then follow the app instructions.)
Mounting Tips
1. Avoid placing behind glass. Glass will obstruct the motion sensor of your camera.
2. Choose a proper location to mount your camera, or it will be triggered too often by false alarms.
- Avoid pointing the camera directly at swaying trees.
- Avoid pointing the camera directly at vehicles and pedestrians on the road.
- Avoid pointing the camera directly at street lamps and sunlight.
3. Do not place the camera upside down.
4. Keep the motion sensor level for best results.

5. Tilt the camera downwards at an angle of about 20°.

6. Mount your camera to the side so that movement goes across the lens’ Leld of view to better trigger motion detection and AI detection.

*Do not mount facing the direction of movement.
7. For optimal detection performance, we recommend mounting the camera 7-10 ft (2-3 m) above the ground.

*You can adjust the sensitivity in Camera Settings > Detection > Wake-up Sensitivity.

Mount Your Camera
Option 1: Mount to Wall with Base
1. Drill Holes
Stick the mounting template to the desired mounting place. Drill 3 holes according to the template.

2. Unscrew the Base
Unscrew the base from the mounting bracket.

3. Secure the Bracket
Insert three anchors into the holes and use the screws to atx the bracket over the anchors. Screw the base onto the bracket.


4. Install the Camera
Install the camera on the base, adjust the angle by loosening the base, and secure it by tightening.

Note: Ensure the camera is securely attached to the camera bracket by tightening the bottom screw.
Option 2: Mount to Wall with Metal Plate
1. Drill Holes
Stick the mounting template of the metal plate to the desired mounting place. Drill 3 holes according to the template.

2. Install Camera
Insert 3 anchors into the holes and use the screws to atx the metal plate over the anchors. Then attach the camera to the plate.
CAUTION! Strong Magnet. Crushing Hazard.

Have a Tapo Solar Panel?
The Tapo Solar Panel charges your Wire-Free Indoor/Outdoor Security Camera continuously.
1. Install Waterproof Gasket
Insert the waterproof gasket into the camera’s charging port. Ensure that the gasket is tightly sealed.

2. Power On Camera
Connect the solar panel by inserting the connector into the charging port until snug.

Note: If you use a third-party solar panel to charge this camera, we cannot guarantee the waterproof performance.

Troubleshooting
- Camera not turning on after falling: Plug in the USB charger to power it on again.
- LED does not blink amber quickly when charging: Confirm the power is running and check the connection.
- Amazon Frustration-Free Setup doesn’t complete: If the LED does not turn solid blue after a long time, add the device manually: press the Reset button once on the camera, then in the Tapo app tap “+”, select your device model, and follow the app instructions.
- Device not showing in the Tapo app after Amazon FFS: Try setting it up manually in the app: tap “+”, select your device model, and follow the app instructions.
