3. Kuweka
The MS116GS switch is designed for easy installation. No software configuration is required.
3.1 Ufungaji wa Kimwili
- Uwekaji: Place the switch on a stable, flat surface, such as a desktop, or mount it in a rack. Ensure adequate ventilation around the device.
- Miunganisho ya Mtandao: Connect your network devices (e.g., computers, printers, IP cameras, routers) to any of the 16 RJ45 ports using Ethernet cables. The corresponding Link/Act LED for each connected port will light up, indicating an active connection.

Kielelezo cha 3.2: Illustration of the Plug and Play setup, showing the switch connected to a computer.
3.2 Viashiria vya LED
The front panel features LED indicators to monitor the switch's status:
- Nguvu ya LED:
- Washa: Zima imewashwa.
- Imezimwa: Swichi imezimwa.
- Unganisha/Tekeleza LED (kwa kila bandari):
- On: A device is connected to the corresponding port.
- Flashing: Data is being transmitted or received through the corresponding port.
- Kimezimwa: Hakuna kifaa kilichounganishwa kwenye mlango unaolingana.
4. Maagizo ya Uendeshaji
The MS116GS switch operates automatically once connected. It supports two special modes: Isolation Mode and Loop Prevention Mode, which can be activated via physical switches on the device.

Kielelezo cha 4.1: Close-up of the mode switches for Isolation and Loop Prevention, located on the right side of the switch.
4.1 Hali ya Kutengwa
Isolation Mode allows for one-click client traffic separation. When enabled, ports 1-14 are isolated from each other, preventing them from communicating directly. All isolated ports can still communicate with ports 15-16 (uplink ports). This mode enhances security and performance by preventing broadcast storms and improving LAN security.
- To enable Isolation Mode: Set the "Isolation" switch to the "On" position.
- To disable Isolation Mode: Set the "Isolation" switch to the "Off" position (Default Mode).
4.2 Loop Prevention Mode
Loop Prevention Mode automatically detects and blocks network loops. A network loop occurs when there are multiple paths between two network devices, which can cause broadcast storms and network instability. When a loop is detected, the switch will block the corresponding port to prevent network disruption.
- To enable Loop Prevention Mode: Set the "Loop Prevention" switch to the "On" position.
- To disable Loop Prevention Mode: Set the "Loop Prevention" switch to the "Off" position (Default Mode).
5. Matengenezo
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your MS116GS switch.
- Uingizaji hewa: Ensure that the ventilation holes on the sides of the switch are not obstructed. Proper airflow is crucial for heat dissipation.
- Ugavi wa Nguvu: Use only the power adapter provided with the switch. Using an incorrect power adapter may damage the device.
- Mazingira: Operate the switch within its specified temperature and humidity ranges. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight or near heat sources.
6. Utatuzi wa shida
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your MS116GS switch.
6.2 Link/Act LED is Off for a Connected Device
- Verify that the cable length does not exceed the maximum recommended length (typically 100 meters for Ethernet).
- Check for network loops. If Loop Prevention Mode is off, consider enabling it.
- If Isolation Mode is enabled, ensure it is not inadvertently affecting communication between devices that need to interact directly.
- Anzisha tena swichi na vifaa vilivyounganishwa.
