- Phillips Head Screwdriver (for battery installation)
Battery Installation
- Using a Phillips Head Screwdriver (not included) remove the screw from the bottom of the Battery Compartment, and remove the cover.
Note: If used batteries are installed, remove them. - Install the included 3x AAA Batteries into the Battery Compartment, as shown in Diagram 1.
- Replace the cover, then using a Phillips Head Screwdriver (not included) drive the screw (removed in Step 1) back into the hole at the bottom of the Battery Compartment.
Refer to LCD Display Image (Diagram 2) and the Element/Function table to understand the settings and measurement information shown on the LCD Display.

Operation
Turning the Device on and off
- To turn the device on: Long press the Power On/Off Button for 2 seconds, while the device is powered off.
- To turn the device off: Short press the Power On/Off Button, while the device is powered on

Standard Mode
- Standard Mode is the default operation mode of the Decibel Reader. While in Standard Mode, the Decibel Measurement Reading on the LCD Display will display the current sound reading.
FAST/SLOW Response Speeds
- While in standard mode, the current sound reading will refresh values at FAST (125ms) or SLOW (1s ) intervals, based upon user selection and preference.
- To toggle between FAST and SLOW response speeds: Short press the FAST/SLOW Response Speed Button
.
MAX/MIN Modes
- MAX & MIN Modes are optional operation modes of the Decibel Reader. While in MAX or MIN Modes the Decibel Measurement Reading on the LCD Display will display the loudest (MAX), or quietest (MIN) measurements captured while in that specific mode. The values will refresh if a louder or quieter measurement is detected while in the specific mode.
- To toggle between MAX, MIN and Standard Modes: Short press the Measuring Mode (MAX/MIN) Button

Hold Mode
- Hold Mode is an optional operation mode of the Decibel Reader. While in Hold Mode the Decibel Measurement Reading on the LCD Display will continuously display the sound reading that was on the display when Hold Mode was activated.
- To toggle in and out of Hold Mode: Short press the Hold & Back-Light Button

Turning the LCD Display Back-Light
To turn the LCD Display Back-Light on and off: Long press the Hold & Back-Light Button for 2 seconds, while the device is powered on .
Additional Features
Power Alert
The power sign will display when the battery is critically low, indicating it is time to change batteries.
Auto-Off
The device will automatically power down if it’s not interacted with for 5 minutes.
