3. Seta
Before first use, it is important to prepare your coffeemaker for optimal performance.
- Ho phutha: Carefully remove all packaging materials and promotional labels from your coffeemaker. Keep packaging materials in case you need to ship the unit in the future.
- Washing Parts: Wash the glass carafe and its lid, the filter basket, and the permanent filter in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Sefe ea Metsi ea Mashala: Your coffeemaker includes a charcoal water filter. Remove the filter from its polybag and soak it in cold tap water for 15 minutes. Insert the filter into the filter holder and place it into the water reservoir.
- Potoloho ea Pele ea Brew (Hloekisa): Fill the water reservoir to the 14-cup mark with cold water. Run the coffeemaker through one or two brew cycles without coffee grounds. This will clean the internal components and remove any manufacturing residues.

Follow these steps to brew coffee with your Cuisinart PerfecTemp Coffeemaker.
- Tlatsa Letamo la Metsi: Open the top lid and fill the water reservoir with cold, fresh water to your desired level, up to the 14-cup mark. The front-fill water reservoir design makes this easy.
- Kenya Mabala a Kofi: Place the permanent gold-tone filter or a paper filter into the filter basket. Add your desired amount of ground coffee. For best results, use 1 scoop (provided) per cup.
- Khetha Matla a ho Bitsa: Use the control panel to select your preferred brew strength: Regular, Bold, or Over Ice.
- Boemo ba komiki ea 1-4: If brewing 1 to 4 cups, press the '1-4 CUP' button for optimized flavor extraction for smaller batches.
- Program Brew Time (Optional): To program a delayed brew, press the 'PROG' button and use the 'HR' and 'MIN' buttons to set your desired start time.
- Qala ho ritela: Press the 'BREW ON/OFF AUTO OFF' button to begin the brewing cycle. The coffeemaker will automatically turn off after a set period, which can be extended using the '+30' button.
- Brew Pause: The Brew Pause feature allows you to temporarily stop the flow of coffee from the basket to pour a cup before the brewing cycle is complete. Simply remove the carafe, and the flow will stop. Return the carafe within 20 seconds to prevent overflow.

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your coffeemaker.

- Tlhaloso: Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffeemaker and affect its performance. The 'CLEAN' indicator will illuminate when it's time to decalcify. To decalcify, fill the water reservoir with a mixture of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water. Press the 'CLEAN' button. The coffeemaker will run a special cleaning cycle. After the cycle, run 2-3 cycles with fresh cold water to rinse thoroughly.
