Setup
- Power on
Push the power button until the Square logo appears on the screen. Charge the battery if it’s low. Be sure to keep your device on and connected to the internet while charging overnight for necessary software updates. - Connect to Wi-Fi
Follow the steps on the screen to connect to Wi-Fi and install any software updates. - Log in to your Square account
If you don’t yet have a Square account, please create one at square.com to get started.

Device functions
Contactless payments
Hold the device or card close to the screen to complete payment.
Chip card payments
Insert the chip card into the dip slot with the chip facing up.
Barcode scanner
Hold down the barcode button and aim the green light at the barcode you want to read. You can also scan gift card QR codes for payment.
Camera
Use the built-in camera to easily add photos to item details and more in Square Point of Sale.
Swipe (additional reader required) Plug in Square Reader for magstripe (USB-C) to take swipe payments. Square Reader not included.

Transmitters in the 5.9257.125 GHz band are prohibited from operating to control or communicate with unmanned aircraft systems. This device has been evaluated and meets the applicable regulatory requirements for exposure to radio waves. This device is evaluated in positions that simulate when worn or carried against the torso of the body with 10 mm separation, and when held by hands with no separation. Ensure that the device accessories, such as a device case and device holster, are not composed of metal components.
