ON PLACEMENT

Do not use the unit in places which are extremely hot, cold, dusty or humid.

Place the unit on a flat and even surface to prevent it from falling or being dropped.

ON CONDENSATION

When left in a heated room where it is warm and damp, water droplets or condensation may form inside the unit. When there is condensation inside the unit, the unit may not function normally.

POWER SOURCE

The P-SB7 operates using 3 X “AAA” (UM-4) size Alkaline batteries (Batteries Not Included). It can also operate using an AC/DC 4.5Vdc adaptor from AC120V/60Hz power supply.

A. DC POWER OPERATION

  1. Open the battery door (#22) located at the back of the P-SB7.
  2. Insert 3 X AAA (UM-4) size Alkaline batteries according to the polarity diagram in the battery compartment
  3. Close the Battery Door (#22)
  4. IMPORTANT:
Be sure that the batteries are installed correctly. Wrong polarity may damage the unit. Never mix Alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel cadmium) batteries together. If the unit is not to be used for an extended period of time, remove the batteries. Old or leaking batteries can cause damage to the unit and may void the warranty.

B. AC/DC ADAPTER

  1. Connect the 115V AC to DC Adapter (Excluded) to the DC 4.5V Jack (#4) on the side of the unit.
  2. Connect the other end of the AC/DC Adapter to a wall outlet with AC120V/60Hz power supply.

RADIO RECEPTION

  1. Press POWER Button (#17) for 2 seconds to turn on the P-SB7. The device will default to the radio band which you set previously.
  2. Set the Band Selector (#16) to either “AM” or “FM” for the desired radio band.
  3. Adjust the VOL.+ (#15) or VOL – (#18) to obtain the desired sound level.
  4. When you wish to turn off the P-SB7, press the POWER Button (#17) for 2 seconds.

TIPS FOR GOOD RADIO RECEPTION

  1. To insure maximum FM tuner sensitivity, the Telescopic Antenna (#7) should be fully extended and rotated to obtain the best possible reception.
  2. When tuning in AM reception, be sure to place the unit in a vertical position. To insure the maximum AM sensitivity, try repositioning the unit until the best reception is obtained.

SWEEP FUNCTION

SWEEP RATE

The SWEEP RATE controls how quickly the unit increments through each individual frequency step and the Spirit response enhancement feature.

The following individual sweep rates shown below, can be selected by the user

AM-50ms, 100ms, 150ms, 200ms, 250ms, 300ms, 350ms FM-50ms, 100ms, 150ms, 200ms, 250ms, 300ms, 350ms
When using the SWEEP function, press the SWEEP RATE Button

(#11) to select the desired sweep rate. The actual rate is displayed in ms (milli-second) on the LCD display.

SWEEP FWD

Press the SWEEP FWD button (#9) for 3 seconds to begin the sequential sweep of all frequency channels starting from the lowest frequency to the highest frequency.

Press the SWEEP FWD button (#9) again to stop the SWEEP. You can also press the SWEEP FWD button quickly to select an individual frequency.

SWEEP REV

Press the SWEEP REV button (#13) for 3 seconds to begin the sequential sweep of all frequency channels starting form the highest frequency to the lowest frequency.

Press the SWEEP REV button (#13) again to stop the SWEEP.

Press the SWEEP FWD button quickly to select an individual frequency.

Note:

The adjustable, incremental Sweep rate is an important feature of the P-SB7. Utilize this feature to determine the amount of “dwell” time for each frequency step.

Bluetooth Connection & Disconnection

Bluetooth Connection

Press the TEMP RESET/BT button(#3) for 3 seconds and the power led indicator (POWER/BT) (#10) turns from red to blinking blue light, this means it is waiting for Bluetooth connection. When the power led indicator becomes a constant blue light, it means that the Bluetooth connected and paired with other device successfully.

Important Note:

During the initial (first) pairing of the Bluetooth with your device, there will be a delay of 60 seconds. Once the initial pairing is successful, all subsequent connections with the same device will occur within 10-15 seconds.

Bluetooth Disconnection

Press the TEMP RESET/BT button(#3) for 3 seconds again, and the power led indicator (POWER/BT) (#10) will turn from blue to a red light. This indicates that the Bluetooth connection with your device has been turned off.

Temperature Measurement with Digital Display

The P-SB7 can measure and display ambient room temperature variations with user selectable degree C/F. In addition, the P-SB7 also features a unique temperature deviation measurement feature which allows the user to “baseline” at zero and monitor +/-temperature (warm/cool) changes within the environment. Press the TEMP RESET button(#3) located on the left side of the P-SB7 to toggle between the Ambient /Deviation temperature displays.

  1. Allow the temperature sensor (located near the antenna) about 2-3 minutes to stabilize within the environment. Be sure not to touch the sensor with your finger to prevent any false readings.
  2. Press the AM/FM momentary button(#16) for 2 seconds to switch between degree F to degree C or from degree C to degree F.
  3. Press the TEMP RESET momentary button located on the left side of the P-SB7 to baseline (zero) to the environment temperature. The temperature display will now read “0.0”. The P-SB7 will now monitor and track any +/- ambient temperature deviation changes within the environment. Press the TEMP RESET momentary button again to revert back to the ambient temperature display.

Note: Keep your hand, fingers and other heat sources away from the bead style temperature sensor located on the top of the P-SB7.
Be aware that subtle temperature changes within the environment caused by air currents or positional changes can cause the temperature display to change, which is normal. When this happens and you suspect that it is not related to your activity, press the TEMP RESET button to baseline and recalibrate.

Safety Emergency Flashlight

The P-SB7 has a built-in, high intensity mini (white) flashlight which provides easy navigation through hallways, stairwells and other difficult locations. To activate the Flashlight press the Symbol (#12) for 2 seconds. To deactivate the Flashlight press the same button again for 2 seconds.

The Flashlight circuit is independent of the P-SB7 Spirit Box, and can be turned ON/OFF without the P-SB7 being ON

Safety Lanyard

To prevent accidental drops, a Safety Lanyard has been added for your convenience.

USING EARPHONE or HEADPHONE

Inserting the plug of your headphones into the EARPHONE Jack (#1) will enable you to listen to the frequency sweep in private.
When using headphones, the internal Speaker (#21) will be interrupted.

READ THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE USING

YOUR HEADPHONES

  1. Avoid extended play at very high volume as it may impair your hearing.
  2. If you experience ringing in your ears, reduce the volume or shut off your unit.
  3. Do not use while driving a motorized vehicle. This is dangerous and also illegal in some areas.
  4. Keep the volume at a reasonable level even if your headset is an open-air type designed to allow you to hear outside sounds. Please note excessively high volume may still block outside sounds.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

  1. Clean your unit with a damp (never wet) cloth. Solvent or detergent should never be used.
  2. Avoid leaving your unit in direct sunlight or in hot, humid, or dusty places.
  3. Keep your unit away from heating appliances and sources of electrical noise such as fluorescent lamps or motors.
