Exterior Features
The CS20 includes a hopper, control panel, cover, coin tray, on/off switch, and fuse (located underneath the machine).

Control Panel
The control panel features:

  • A) Displays denomination and quantity counted (CS20) / Switches between  quantity and value counted (CS20+)
  • B) Increase the batch quantity in small increments
  • C) Increase the batch quantity in large increments
  • D) Decrease batch quantity in small increments
  • E) Select denomination in batch counting mode
  • F) Exit report mode (CS20) / Exit batch counting mode or clear results  (CS20+)
  • G) Start/Stop counting

Operating Instructions
Counting and Sorting

  1. Place the machine on a level surface.
  2. Turn on the machine using the on/off switch.
  3. If ready, the display will show 0.00; if error, refer to section 5.
  4. For some currencies, use coin tubes under the correct denominations.
  5. Remove foreign coins/objects and place coins in the hopper.
  6. Press the START/STOP button to start/stop counting.

The CS20’s fast counting speed (220 coins/min) makes counting and sorting a quick and simple task and with its batch counting function preparing bank bags, coin rolls, and cash drawers has never been easier.

Safety instructions

Read the safety instructions before operating the ZZap CS20 to avoid personal injury and damage to the machine.

  • Do not put foreign coins/objects in the hopper.
  • Before carrying out maintenance, make sure the machine is switched off and the plug is disconnected from the power supply.
  • Do not put fingers inside the hopper or coin channels when the machine is turned on.
  • Do not drop metal objects or flammable materials inside the machine.
  • Do not operate the machine when the back cover is open.
  • Switch off the machine after use.
  • Disconnect the power supply if the machine is expected to be out of service for extended periods.
  • Do not operate the machine in high temperatures or humid/damp conditions.
  • Do not operate the machine with wet hands.
  • Follow all the warnings and instructions marked on the machine (if applicable).
  • Ensure that the mains power supply is compatible with the machine.
  • Disconnect the power supply before moving the machine.
  • Replace the fuse if it has blown꞉ open the cover of the fuse holder, discard the blown fuse, and replace it with a new fuse of the same type and rating.

Operating instructions

Counting and sorting

  1. Place the machine on a level surface.
  2. Turn on the machine at the on/off switch. The CS20 will perform a self‑diagnostic procedure. “0.00” will be displayed if the CS20 is ready for use. If an error code is displayed, see section 5.
  3. For some currencies, coin tubes can be used instead of the coin trays. Ensure the coin tubes are placed under the correct denominations.
  4. Remove any foreign coins/objects then put the coins in the hopper.
  5. Press the “START/STOP” button to start counting. Press the “START/STOP” button again to stop counting.
  6. The counting results will be displayed, see below. CS20꞉ The total value counted will be displayed on the screen. Once counting has finished, the CS20 can display the total quantity counted for each denomination. Repeatedly press the “REPORT” button to scroll
  • CS20꞉ The total value counted will be displayed on the screen. Once counting has finished, the CS20 can display the total quantity counted for each denomination. Repeatedly press the “REPORT” button to scroll through the different denominations. Press the “C” button to exit report mode.
  • CS20+꞉ The total value counted and the total value/quantity counted for each denomination will be displayed. Press the “REPORT” button to switch between the quantity and value counted for the denominations.

Batch counting (CS20 only)

  1. Set a batch quantity for each coin denomination꞉
    1. Press the “SET” button to select a denomination (shown on the left-hand side of the display).
    2. Press the “BATCH”, “+” and “‑“ buttons to set a batch quantity between 0 and 999 (shown on the right-hand side of the display).
    3. To set all the batch quantities to 0꞉ press and hold the “‑“ button for 7 seconds until “C” appears on the left-hand side of the display
  2. To start counting, put the coins in the hopper (remove foreign coins/objects) and press the “START/STOP” button.
  3. Press the “START/STOP” button at any time to stop counting.
  4. When a batch has been counted the CS20 will automatically stop and emit a “beep” sound. The applicable denomination and its batch quantity will be displayed.
  5. Remove the coins from the applicable coin tray and press the “START/STOP” button to continue batch counting.

Note

  1. If the batch quantity is set to 0 the CS20 will continue to count the applicable denomination unless the “START/STOP” button is pressed or if no coins are counted within 20 seconds.
  2. The current batch settings will be remembered when the CS20 is next switched on.

Batch counting (CS20+ only)

  1. Set a batch quantity for each coin denomination꞉
    1. Press the “SET” button to select a denomination. The selected denomination will flash.
    2. Press the “BATCH”, “+” and “‑“ buttons to set a batch quantity between 0 and 999.
  2. To start counting, put the coins in the hopper (remove foreign coins/objects) and press the “START/STOP” button.
  3. Press the “START/STOP” button at any time to stop counting.
  4. When a batch has been counted the CS20+ will automatically stop andthe applicable denomination will flash.
  5. Remove the coins from the applicable coin tray and press the“START/STOP” button to continue batch counting.

Note

  1. If the batch quantity is set to 0 the CS20+ will continue to count the applicable denomination unless the “START/STOP” button is pressed or if no coins are counted within 20 seconds.
  2. The current batch settings will be remembered when the CS20+ is next switched on.

Troubleshooting

When the CS20 is turned on it will perform a self‑diagnostic procedure. If theCS20 detects a fault it will display an error code.

Error code EA
This means the coin sensor is obstructed or coins are jammed in the machine. Turn the machine OFF and disconnect the power supply, then open the back cover.

Remove all the coins/objects from the machine. Then make sure you are at eye level with the opening and have a torch in hand. Using your fingers, slowly turn the sorting disc in a clockwise direction until you can see the counselor in the bottom left corner, as shown below. Clean the sensor withan  alint‑free soft cloth. Close the back cover and restart the machine. If the error persists see section 5.2.

Error code E1 – E8

  • This means the counting sensors in one of the coin channels are obstructed.E1 is the coin channel for the smallest denomination; and E8 is the coin channel for the largest denomination.
  • To unblock the counting sensors, turn the machine OFF and disconnect the power supply. Use a finger or pen to push up through the center of the coin channel to release any jammed coins, as shown below. Be careful not to touch the sides of the coin channel to prevent damage to the sensors. Open up the back cover and remove any foreign coins then restartthe machine. If the error persists see section 5.2.

Error code E9
This means the speed sensor is obstructed. To unblock the speed sensor see section 5.2.

Coins falling into the incorrect coin trays.
If coins are falling into the incorrect coin trays a foreign coin or object is likely jammed in a coin channel. To remove the jam see section 5.2 and clear ALL the coin channels.

Coin jams
In the event of a coin jam turn the machine OFF and disconnect the power supply. Open up the back cover and remove all coins/objects then restart the machine. If the error persists, see section 4.2 and clear ALL the coin channels. Finally, if the coin jam is still not cleared follow the steps in section 5.2.

Maintenance

Maintaining the exterior of the machine
Before cleaning the machine, make sure the CS20 is switched OFF and the plug is disconnected from the power supply. Periodically clean the machine with a dry cloth to remove dust and dirt.

Maintaining the interior of the machine
Do NOT routinely maintain the interior of the machine. Only follow the steps below if an error persists.

  1. Switch off the machine and disconnect the power supply.
  2. Unscrew and remove the 3 screws around the bottom of the cover.
  3. Pull the cover upwards and out then place it next to the machine.
  4. Remove ALL coins and any items such as paperclips.
  5. Gently clean the speed sensor with a soft cloth. The speed sensor is located on the right-hand side, just above the sorting disc.
  6. Clean the coin sensor (see section 5.1) and the counting sensors(there are 2 counting sensors located at the top of each coin channel) with a soft lint‑free cloth. If necessary use a piece of cotton with a small amount of alcohol-based cleaner.
  7. Remove any dust or dirt in the machine.
  8. Place the cover back on, affix the 3 screws, and restart the machine.
