Product Usage Instructions

Installing ZOOM Handy Control & Sync:

  1. Open the App Store on the iPhone/iPad and search for ZOOM Handy Control & Sync.
  2. Tap GET on the ZOOM Handy Control & Sync screen to install the application.

Connecting with Recorders

  1. Refer to the recorder manual to prepare it for Bluetooth connection.
  2. Open the ZOOM Handy Control & Sync app on your iPhone/iPad.
  3. In the app, tap the Bluetooth device list icon and select the recorder name/ID to connect.

Using Screens
The screens display various information such as elapsed time, recorder name, battery charge, signal strength, and more. You can also see level meters and file names.

Recording:

  1. To start recording on all connected recorders simultaneously, tap the REC button.
  2. To stop recording, tap the STOP button.

Changing Recorder Names:

  1. Swipe left on the recorder display area.
  2. Tap the edit icon.
  3. Input the desired name and tap OK.

Disconnecting:

  1. Swipe left on the display area of the recorder you want to disconnect.
  2. Tap disconnect.

Setting the Date and Time:

  1. Press the date and time setting button to synchronize all connected recorders with the iPhone/iPad’s date and time.

  • ZOOM Handy Control & Sync is a remote control application for ZOOM recorder products. An iPhone/iPad can be connected to multiple recorders and used to simultaneously start and stop recording, synchronize timecode, and set the date and time.

Installing ZOOM Handy Control & Sync

  1. Open the App Store on the iPhone/iPad and search for “ZOOM Handy Control & Sync”.

This will install ZOOM Handy Control & Sync.

Connecting with recorders

NOTE

  • A BTA-1 or another dedicated wireless adapter (sold separately) must be installed in the recorder itself to remotely control it from an iPhone/iPad. See the operation manual of that recorder for details.ZOOM-Handy-Control-and-Sync-fig- (2)
    1. Referring to the recorder manual, prepare it for Bluetooth connection.
    2. Tap the ZOOM Handy Control & Sync icon on the iPhone/iPad.
    3. Tap the icon.ZOOM-Handy-Control-and-Sync-fig- (3)
  • This opens a Bluetooth device list in ZOOM Handy Control & Sync. Tap the recorder name/ID to start connecting.
  • When the connection completes, the status of the connected recorders will be shown.ZOOM-Handy-Control-and-Sync-fig- (4)

NOTE

  • If the connection is not successful, move the device closer to the recorder or move both to a place where nothing‥interferes‥with‥radio‥waves‥and‥start‥ZOOM‥Handy‥Control‥&‥Sync‥again.‥Confirm‥also‥that‥the‥Bluetooth function of the iPhone/iPad is enabled.
  • A maximum of 10 recorders can be connected to the device.

  • Timecode data sent from the iPhone/iPad is added to recording files. This enables synchronization when editing afterward if multiple recorders are connected and used to record simultaneously.
