Earbud Controls
Right earbud has shown. All controls and features are duplicated on the left earbud.
NOTE
Each earbud must be powered on separately. Once they are linked, powering off one earbud will power off both.
Battery Charging
The initial charge time is approximately 2 hours. Charge fully before use. The low battery indicator will flash for 1 minute and a voice will announce “Low Battery,” then the unit will automatically power OFF.
- Pull back the cover on the DC Power Input.
- Using a Micro-USB to USB cable, connect to the USB port of a powered-on computer or USB power adaptor (not included) to charge the unit.
- Charge both earbuds at the same time with the included dual Micro-USB charging cable.
Frequently Asked Questions
The device’s claims of 6+ hours on the earbuds and 4+ hours on the speaker were accurate. The battery was at 20 to 30 percent at the end of each of the multiple six-hour periods I used to test the earbud mode. I have 30 percent of the speaker’s battery left after four hours of listening.
The iLive Truly Wire-Free Earphones operate similarly to other earbuds. They can assist you activate Siri and regulate the volume when taking calls. They operate with non-Apple items as well; I was able to link them with my iPhone right after opening the cover.
Press and hold the Function button on both earbuds until they begin to blink blue and red to manually connect the earbuds. When they successfully link, one of the earbuds’ indicator LEDs will start blinking blue and red. They will then automatically pair with one another. The connection will also be announced through voice prompt.
To charge, connect the provided USB cable to a USB port on a working computer. Before using, thoroughly recharge. When charging, the indicator will flash red; when fully charged, it will turn blue. The first charging takes about two hours.
Hold the Power button down for nine seconds to turn the device on and start pairing. At that point, a voice will say “Bluetooth is connecting,” and the indicator will start rapidly flashing blue. When pairing, stay 3 feet or less away from the device. Select ISB19 in the Bluetooth Settings to pair using the controls on your Bluetooth device.
To turn the case ON and start charging the earphones, use the Power switch on the case. The earphones’ indicator will glow red as they charge. The indicator will turn blue after the charge is finished.
The device will automatically turn OFF after 3 minutes of the low battery display flashing. To charge the device, attach a Micro-USB to USB cable (included) to the USB port of a computer that is turned on or a USB power adaptor (not included).
You’ll be alright if you use the earbuds as usual. Use them frequently and recharge them whenever you have a chance (though I wouldn’t keep them full all the time). Before it starts to degrade, the battery in them should last for about 4 years, by which time you’ll probably want to get a new set of earbuds or headphones.

An Android-powered mobile device must have a wireless Bluetooth icon underneath the shade on its top. You can use it to enter the Bluetooth menu and choose which devices to set for the search. Tap on the headphones in succession to pair them.
