Compatibility
iPadOS 13.6 or newer.
We recommend updating your iPadOS to the newest version for optimal performance.
To check your iPad system version, please follow these steps:
- Open the iPad’s Settings app > General > About > iPadOS Version.
- Please upgrade your iPadOS to version 13.6 or newer to ensure proper functionality of the Keyboard Case.
To upgrade iPadOS to the latest version please follow the step:
- Open the iPad’s Settings app > General > Software Update > Update Now.
Attach your iPad to the keyboard
- Remove the packaging of the protective case and separate the case from the keyboard.
- Place the iPad screen side up and rotate it so that the rear camera is aligned with the hole of the case.
- Press the four corners of the iPad one by one into the protective case.
Note: Due to the slightly increased thickness of some iPads when using a screen protector, the Keyboard may not fully fit the device when closed.
Connect the keyboard to your iPad
- Install the iPad into the protective case and turn on the keyboard.
- Toggle the switch on the right side of the keyboard to “ON”. The power indicator (red light) will turn on for 1 second and then turn off, while the pairing indicator (blue light) will flash.
- Open the Settings app on your iPad.
- Tap Bluetooth so that it’s “ON” or green.
- Find and tap “HOU Keyboard” under “Other Devices” and tap “Pair” in the pop-up window. The blue light will stay on after successfully pairing.
If the keyboard is fully charged but the Bluetooth name of “HOU Keyboard” cannot be searched normally by the Bluetooth of the iPad, please press and hold the key combination (
) for 3 seconds to reset the Bluetooth settings of the keyboard, and then repeat the Bluetooth connection steps above.
- The keyboard will enter sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity, and the Bluetooth will be disconnected at this time. Tapping any key on the keyboard can reconnect them automatically. (Operating the touchpad cannot reconnect them.)
- After pairing the keyboard with iPad for the first time, you can find the keyboard under My Devices in Settings > Bluetooth.
- To disconnect the Keyboard or ignore it, tap the information button
next to HOU Keyboard.
Adjust the touchpad settings
To adjust the touchpad, go to Settings>General>Touchpad. You can adjust the tracking speed (i.e., pointer movement speed), scrolling direction, and enable or disable ‘tap’ and ‘double-finger assist tap’.
Turn on and adjust the keyboard backlight
- Turn on/off the backlight and switch its brightness: Press the backlight button
to turn on the first level brightness backlight. Pressing twice is the second level and three times is the third level. Pressing four times can turn off the backlight.
- To change the backlight color, press the combination keys
.
- The backlight will automatically turn off after six seconds of inactivity. Tapping the keyboard again will automatically turn the backlight on.
Charge the keyboard
To charge the Keyboard, you can connect the USB-C cable to the USB-C port on the right side of the Keyboard. It usually takes about two hours for the keyboard to be fully charged. The charging indicator will change from red to green when the keyboard is fully charged.
Keyboard battery status display
You can check the battery percentage of the connected keyboard in the “Battery” widget.
To add a battery widget:
- Long press the iPad screen > Click on the top left corner
> Batteries > Add widget > Click on the top right corner

Switch to the on-screen keyboard
When typing accented characters or using dictation, you might need to use the onscreen keyboard instead of the HOU keyboard.
- To display the on-screen keyboard, tap the text field and then tap the
icon in the bottom left corner of the iPad screen.
(Depending on the input method, the displayed icon will change accordingly.) e.g. Simplified ENEnglish(US):, Italiano:

- In the menu that appears, tap the Show Keyboard
button.
- To hide the software keyboard, tap the Close button
.
Description of keyboard status indicator
- Low battery state: the red light is flashes.
- Charging: the red light is on.
- Fully charged: the green light stays on.
- Requesting pairing: blue light flashes.
- When in uppercase, the white light stays on; when in lowercase, the white light is off.
Instructions for keyboard key operation
Combination multifunctional keys are usually used in conjunction with the Shift, Ctrl, and fn keys. Taking the button as an example:

Check keyboard shortcuts
To check available shortcuts for an app, press the key while the app is being used or the home screen is displayed.

Touchpad gesture instructions
Click.
Press with one finger until there is a slight press sensation.
Zoom.
Place your fingers close together. Open to zoom in, or pinch to zoom out.
Press and hold.
Press and hold with one finger.
Go to the home screen.
Swipe up with three fingers.
Drag and move.
Press and hold the item, then slide on the touchpad with one finger to move it.
Open the app switcher.
Swipe up with three fingers, and then lift your finger after pausing for a moment. Or pinch with four fingers, pause for a moment, and then lift your fingers.
Open the program dock.
Swipe the cursor lightly over the bottom of the iPad screen with one finger.
Switch between opening apps.
Swipe left or right with three fingers.
Scroll up or down.
Swipe up or down with two fingers.
Scroll left or right.
Swipe left or right with two fingers.
Open the search from the home screen.
Swipe down with two fingers.
Auxiliary tap.
Tap with two fingers on icons on the home scr een, emails in the inbox, and the ‘Camera’ button in the Control Center and other items to display their quick action menus. the icons on the main screen to display their quick action menu.
Alternatively, press the Control key and tap the touchpad.

Setup and Troubleshooting
Q1, The Keyboard battery does not last long.
Turn on the backlight will increase battery consumption. Please turn off the backlight in well-lit conditions.
Q2, After the first connection with the iPad, the keyboardcannot reconnect automatically.

① Ensure the keyboard is powered on and that the iPad's Bluetooth is enabled. Restart the keyboard to check wheter it reconnects automatically. ② If the above steps don't work, delete the keyboard from the iPad's Bluetooth settings, then reset the keyboard by pressing until the whit e light flashes. Afterward, reconnect the keyboard as you did initially.
Q4, The magnetic force of the keyboard is weak and can't be attached to the iPad.
① Please check if the iPad matches the purchased keyboard model. ② The magnetic force of the keyboard is related to the iPad model, and some iPad models may have relatively weak magnetic force.
Q6, How to tap the touchpad instead of clicking?
Tap to click: Settings - General - Touchpad - Tap to click. Tips: Once this option is set, y ou won't need to press the touchpad to click.
Q12, Some or all keys cannot be typed.

① Ensure the keyboard is not exposed to water and is connected to the iPad. ② Check the input method, make sure to use the input method that comes with iP ad. ③ Restart iPad and restart keyboard. ④ Long press at the same time, r econnect the keyboard after the blue light flashes. ⑤ Try pressing shift + number keys to check whether it works. ⑥ Try to connect the cell phone t o type, if you can't type, please contact the after-sales service.
Q13, The cursor is frozen and won't move.
Restart the keyboard and iPad.
Q14, Press a key to input multiple repeated characters at once.
① Repeatedly press the key firmly. ② Restart the keyboard and restart the iPad. ③ If the above methods can not be solved, please contact the after-sales service.
Q15, The touchpad has a delay and low sensitivity.
① Restart keyboard and iPad. ② If the above method doesn't work, please contact the after-sales service.
If the keyboard still doesn’t work after trying the above solutions, try repeating the steps. Notes
- Please use this product in the temperature range of 0~35°C and store the product in the range of -20°C~+45°C.
- Do not expose this product to high temperatures or heat sources for a long time, such as sunlight, heaters, microwave ovens, ovens or water heaters.
Overheating of the keyboard may cause an explosion. - Do not throw the keyboard into the fire, as this will cause the battery to catch fire and explode.
- Do not disassemble or modify the keyboard, insert foreign objects, or immerse the keyboard in water or other liquids to avoid battery leakage, overheating, fire or explosion.
- Do not seriously impact, squeeze or puncture the keyboard. Avoid subjecting the keyboard to large external stress, as this may cause internal short circuits and overheating of the keyboard.
- Do not contact the keyboard with benzene, solvents and other chemicals, as they may corrode the product and affect its lifespan.
- It is recommended to turn off the keyboard when it is not in use for a long time to prolong the life of the battery.
- In order to maintain a longer battery life, it is recommended to charge the keyboard only when the power indicator is flashing, and the charging time should not be less than 2 hours each time.
- After the keyboard is fully charged or is not charged, disconnect the power adapter from the keyboard and unplug it from the power outlet.
- The radio waves emitted by this device, or its magnetic components, may interfere with the normal operation of implantable medical devices and other personal medical devices such as pacemakers, cochlear implants, and hearing aids. If you use any of these medical devices, check with their manufacturers about restrictions on using this device.
- When using this device, keep a distance of at least 15 cm from the implanted medical device (such as pacemaker, cochlear implant, etc.).
