INTRODUCTION

The D-D Funktion Pumps are a multi-function DC pump with a unique digital controller which features a constant running setting and three wave modes. The sine wave technology and low voltage motor offers ultra-low running noise, low heat output and energy efficiency.
These pumps are suitable for saltwater and freshwater aquariums. They can be used as a return pump, running media reactors/filters or as a closed loop pump on an aquarium for additional wave flow (5000/6500/10000 models only).

INSTALLATION

The controller and its connections are not waterproof so should be installed in a dry location away from high humidity and water splashing.
A secure mounting bracket is included with the unit that can be fixed to a suitable surface with screws or double sided sticky pads, if the later is used the controller should be positioned in a location where it will not fall into water if the sticky pads fail.

All pumps in the D-D Funktion range are fully submersible to a maximum depth of 1.5m and can be installed within a sump or inside the aquarium itself depending on the purpose the pump is being used for. The larger models (5000, 6500, and 10000) can be mounted externally and come with fittings included for attachment to metric solvent weld aquarium plumbing, the pumps are not self-priming so must be installed below the water level and be primed before switching on.

Allowing the pump to run dry or draw in air may cause damage to the motor and impeller.
When installing the pump, the position of the outlet can be changed to face sideways instead of upwards. To achieve this, slide the footplate towards the back of the pump to remove it and then rotate the impeller cover anticlockwise to release, re-position the faceplate to the desired direction and making sure the locating lugs match then rotate clockwise to lock in place.
Two different inlet attachments are included for use when running the pump submerged. When running submerged, the water depth should be enough to cover the pump body.
Standard Suction Cage – to stop large debris or aquarium inhabitants from being drawn into the pump.
‘Elephant Nose’ Suction attachment – For use when operating the pump in low water levels to avoid air being drawn from the surface or to reduce excess bubble carry-over.

USING THE CONTROLLER

The multifunction controller can be used to set the power output of the pump, select the flow mode, pause the pump for feeding, or to turn the pump on and off.
Adjusting the Mode
To change the mode of the pump press the Mode button, with each press of the button the controller will move through the available options.

The controller will save the setting and return to the normal screen after 5 seconds of no buttons being pressed.

MAINTENANCE

Cleaning the Impeller
For the pump to run correctly, the impeller must be able to rotate freely on the ceramic shaft or bearings. It is recommended that the impeller is removed from the pump every 6-8 weeks and soaked in a suitable acid cleaning solution such as D-D Ezeclean. This solution should also be used to descale the impeller opening in the pump body. Any algae or debris build up can be removed with a suitable soft bristled brush.

General cleaning
Large debris should be removed from the inlet suction attachments using a soft brush under running water, any build-up of algae or other debris on the pump should be cleaned off in the same manor. Allowing the build-up of algae or debris on the inlet of the pump will restrict flow and prevent the pump from operating properly, continued running may damage the pump or impeller. The use of sharp objects or abrasive materials for cleaning may damage the pump and invalidate its warranty.
