  2. Connect the specific port with the peripheral device(s) that you need like picture above.

Troubleshoot Using the Adapter

Things to Know Before You Begin / Common Issues 

  1. Your laptop or device must have a USB-C port.
  2. For video output, your USB-C Notebook or device must support DP Alt Mode over USB-C, or video signals cannot be sent to your monitors.
  3. To check whether your device has the necessary DP Alt Mode, please refer to the manual of your device or contact the computer’s manufacturer.
  4. 4K-capable display and 4K-capable HDMI cable are required to achieve 4K resolution.
  5. It would be a little hot while using HDMI and peripherals devices such as mouse, keyboard and U flash drive simultaneously.

Having trouble with connecting USB-C notebook to the adapter? 

Problem: The adapter disconnect with the external devices after plugging in.

Solution 1: Check your multi-port and USB-C connections. 

Make sure both the USB-C and multi-port and are connected correctly.

Solution 2: Restart the adapter. 

Try restarting the adapter. Disconnect it from your external device(s), then restart your USB-C device, and reconnect the adapter.

Having trouble with video or audio playback? 

Problem: Nothing display on the second screen.

Solution 1: Make sure your USB-C laptop is set to mirror or extend the screen. 

To set the extend mode and mirror mode, here’s how:

For Mac based systems: 

  1. Go to the Apple menu in the upper left hand corner and select System Preferences.
  2. Select Displays.

For Mirroring Displays 

Go to Arrangement and select “Mirror Displays” to start mirroring the display.

For Extending Displays 

Go to arrangement and select “Mirror Displays”, open the applications you need and drag them to your desired displays.

For Windows based systems: 

  1. Press the Windows logo on the keyboard and then press P key on the keyboard.
  2. A pop up will appear and simply choose the option you would like.

Alternatively, you can use the following steps if the steps above do not work:

  1. Right click on an open area of the desktop and select screen resolution.
  2. Under multiple display, select “Duplicate these displays” or “Extend these displays”, then click OK.

Solution 2: Make sure your HDTV, monitor or projector is set to the HDMI channel.

To check the video input setting, here’s how:
Take a DELL monitor for example and do the following:

  1. Press the Menu Button to launch the OSD menu and display the main menu.
  2. Press Up/Down Button to move between options and find the Input Source.
  3. Use the Input Source menu to select between different video inputs that are be connected to your monitor.

For specific models, please follow the instructions in the owner’s manual of the screen or check the manufacturer’s website.

Solution 3: Ensure that the computer connected to the adapter is running correctly and is not in standby or hibernation mode. When the computer is in standby or hibernation mode, the external monitor display is always blank.
Problem: The images on the external monitor flutter.
Check the display resolution setting of the computer and ensure that the resolution is supported by the adapter. To set the resolution of the external monitor, do the followings:

For the Windows based system: 

  1. Click Start Icons Control Panel.
  2. Depending on your Control Panel mode, do one of the following:
    • Click Display Icons Change display settings.
    • Click Appearance and Personalization Icons Display Icons Change display setting.
  3. In the Resolution drop-down list box, move the slider up to increase or down to decrease the resolution of the external monitor.

For Mac base systems: 

  1. Go to the Apple menu in the upper left hand corner and select System Preferences.
  2. Click the Displays option and then click the Display tab.
  3. Select the Scaled option to change your resolution.

Problem: No audio on the monitors that are connected to the adapter.
To resolve no sound or audio problems, follow the steps below:

For Windows based system: 

  1. Click Start Icons Control Panel Icons Hardware and Sound
  2. Click Manage audio devices under Sound to open the Sound window.
  3. From the Playback tab on the Sound window, select the Monitor Model, and then click the Set Default button.

For Mac based systems: 

  1. Go to the Apple menu in the upper left hand corner and select System Preferences.
  2. Select Sound Icons Click the Output tab Icons Select the Monitor Model for sound output.
