Installation Instructions

  1. Unbox and test. Before installing the unit into the drawer, plug the unit in and verify that all winders turn on. Locate the magnet (cabinet part) and hold it over top of the magnet switch. The winder boxes should open up and then close when you pull the magnet away.
  2. Install the Winder Insert into your drawer. Carefully place the unit inside your drawer. Make sure that it is slid tight against the front and the right side of the drawer box. BLUMSAFE-Winder-Insert- (2)
  3. Route USB power cable. Route the provided usb power cable over the back of the drawer and out to the nearest power source, or drill a hole through the back panel of the drawer and run the wire through the hole so that it can access power. Make sure that the drawer(s) open and close freely without any tension on the cable. NOTE: In order to reduce the risk of the wire getting tangled or caught in the drawer mechanism, you may consider buying a plastic drag chain cable carrier, typically used for 3D printers, like this one:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096MK34FG?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1. Simply attach it to the back of the drawer and the back wall of the cabinet in which the drawer is placed, run the power wire through this drag chain and to the power source, and you will minimize risk of snagging.
  4. Install the magnet (cabinet part). After the unit is placed in the drawer box, locate the magnet (cabinet part) that will stick to the cabinet face frame above the magnet switch. Make sure you have a clean surface and peel and stick the magnet to the frame.
*For frameless cabinets, you will need to install the bracket (included) against the sidewall of your cabinet.BLUMSAFE-Winder-Insert- (3)
  5. Adjust the Switch Arm. Pull the drawer out to the full extended position. Using the phillips head screwdriver, slightly loosen all 3 adjustment screws for the switch arm. Adjust the location of the switch arm until the magnet switch is close to the magnet. It does NOT need to touch! Aim for about ¼” gap. The photo above shows the magnet placed on the “bottom” of the cabinet face frame. Depending on the size of your cabinet, the magnet may need to be placed “behind” the face frame. * The servo (motor) has been pre-set for the limits of movement. If there is a need for adjustment, please reach out to us at MatterofFractions@gmail.com
* In the event that you would need to replace a belt in one of the winders, follow these steps.

  • Locate the screw on the back of the winder box (there is 1 screw per winder)
  • Remove the screw and start pushing the winder out of the case via the recessed hole in the back.
  • With your fingers or pliers, unplug the power cable from the rear of the winder. This will free the winder to be removed completely.
  • Once removed, follow the manufacturer’s directions for belt replacement. You can order a new belt from BlumSafe’s “Accessories” page.
