- For the sake of safety, when you do not intend to use the Receiver, please switch off the power button.
- Please ensure the DVB502 is located so that it has adequate ventilation.

- Never try to repair this device by yourself. In case of any fault or failure, please turn off the Receiver at once and notify our company or the corresponding dealer.
- The Receiver is made up of many precision electronic components. Any disassembly or modification may lead to further damage and invalidate the warranty.

Getting Connected
What You’ll Need
Please gather the following:
- DVB502
- Power Cable
- HDMI® (Included) or SCART (Not Included) cable
- Aerial Cable (From your home or portable aerial)
- TV or Monitor with SCART or HDMI® Port
On Your TV/Choosing Your Cable
Plugging In
- Once you have identified which cable you will be connecting with, you may begin plugging in.
Ensure that you have connected the following:
- One HDMI® Cable from the DVB502 to your TV or Monitor.
Or
- One SCART I RCA Cable from the DVB502 to your TV or Monitor.
- Note: If you see a Black and White image while using a SCART connection, please check your Resolution Hz settings. Ensure that the setting is switched to 50Hz instead of 60Hz. You can adjust this setting in [Menu >System Setup> TV System> Resolution].
Selecting The Correct Source
- Once the DVB502 is connected, you must select the correct source on your TV. You must use your TV remote to select the correct “input” or “source” through your TV’s menu.
- For example, when you have the DVB502 connected via the HDMI® cable to the TV, you must select “HDMI®”.
- If your TV has multiple HDMI® ports they may be labelled “HDMI®l, HDMI® 2” etc and you must select the port you have used for the DVB502.
- If you cannot see the DVB502 set-up screen after plugging in the HDMI® cable, please use your TV user manual to check how to change “input” or “source”.
- As selecting the TV source differs between brands of TV, please first refer to the TV manual and the manufacturer about issues selecting the correct source, as we may be unable to provide specific directions.
- One Coaxial Aerial Cable from a Digital Terrestrial Aerial Connected to the RF IN port on the DVB502.
- Use only the included power cable to connect the DVB502 to a mains power socket.
Seeing the Screen
Once you have connected all of the required cables, you must:
- Power on the DVB502 so that the light appears Green
- Use the Red “Power Control” button.
- Switch your TV’s “Source” to the correct port
- If you used a HDMI® cable, you will need your TV set to “HDMI® X”.
- If you used SCART, you will need your TV set to “SCART” or “AV”.
- If you cannot find the correct source which displays the DVB502, please consult your TV manual to check how to change source.
- If you cannot see the DVB502 screen on the correct source while the device is powered on, please contact us for assistance.
Programming the Remote
- The DVB502 remote control supports a selection of inputs for your TV.
- You can program your DVB502 remote to control the TV as well as the DVB502 itself.
To do so, use the Bordered controls shown here:
Adding TV Controls
- Press and hold the SET button until the LED lights up bright red.
- Press the [TV button] on the DVB502 remote so that the LED flashes red.
- Place your TV and DVB502 remotes with their IR sensors facing each other.
- Press the [TV On/Off button] on your TV remote.
- Repeat these steps, replacing the [TV button] [TV On/Off Button] with the remaining controls. Make sure the button you press matches the command you then input.
Setting Up Your Set Top Box
First Time Set Up
- Once you have connected all the cables, turned on the box and selected the correct source, you may perform First Time Set Up.
First Time Set Up will begin automatically and show you the following menu:
- Use the above controls to navigate the menu and select your preferences.
Scanning for Channels
- After completing the first-time setup and selecting “OK”, the DVB502 will automatically search for channels using the attached aerial.
- The scan may take up to 5 minutes.
- Some channels may read “Failed” during the scan; this is only a result of scanning for a range of channels, some of which may be unavailable in your region.
- If all channels read “Failed”, please refer to Troubleshooting.
The Main Menu
- When accessing settings, channel managers, recordings and many other features, you will first navigate to the Main Menu. Do this by pressing the “Menu” button.
From here, you can access the following sections:
- Channel Manager
- Channel Search
- System Setup
- Tools
- Game
- Media Player
Organising Channels
- Once your scan is complete and you load into a live channel, you may freely use the remote control.
- The Channel Manager is where you can move, edit and favourite channels to your liking so that your experience is set up to your preferences.
Moving Channels
- To move a channel’s position in your library, use the UP and DOWN arrows to scroll the list.
- When the required channel is highlighted, press the YELLOW button.
- Now, use the UP and DOWN arrows to move the channel.
- Use the “OK” button to confirm the new position.
Skipping Channels
- Your “Skipped channels” will not appear while using the Channel Up and Channel Down buttons when watching TV, to streamline browsing or censor channels from your list.
- To set a channel as “skipped”, highlight the required channel and press the GREEN button.
- A symbol will appear confirming it is to be skipped.
Adding Favourites
- To add a channel to your favourites list for quick access, highlight the required channel and press the “FAY” button.
- You can bring up your favourites list while watching TV using the FAY button for quick access to a refined list.
Locking Channels
- To lock or unlock a channel, highlight the required channel and press the RED button.
- You will be asked to input your password for this option.
- Default Password: 0000
Channel Manager Symbol Glossary
Skipped Channel: This Icon Shows that a Channel Will be Skipped.
Locked Channel: This Icon Shows that a Channel is Locked.
Favourite Channel: This Icon Shows a Channel that Will Appear in Your Favourites List.
Using the EPG and Browsing Channels
An Introduction to the EPG
- The EPG or Electronic Program Guide is your real-time Freeview Channel Guide that you can bring up on screen to check what’s on now or later across all 100+ Freeview Channels.
- To Access the EPG, press the EPG Button on your remote.
- The screen will display a grid of channels and programmes. You may navigate this menu with the arrow buttons.
EPG Navigation Controls:
- See later programs using the RIGHT arrow.
- See lower or higher channels using the DOWN and UP arrows.
- See the Previous Day with the YELLOW button.
- See the Next Day with the BLUE button.
Changing Channels
- You may browse the EPG freely or navigate to channels while watching TV. To navigate directly to a known channel, type the channel number using the KEYPAD.
- A box will appear for you to type the channel number into.
- Once done, press OK to skip straight to the typed channel. You may also use the CHANNEL UP and CHANNEL DOWN buttons on the remote to step up or down by one channel at a time.
Accessing Favourites
- If you have used the Adding Favourites instructions from the Organising Channels section, you can bring them up on screen while watching TV at any time using the FAY button.
- Choose the favourite you want with OK, and the channel will change automatically.
Channel Recall
- To recall the previous channel viewed, you may press the Channel Recall Button shown below
- Please note: This will recall the most recently watched channel before the current selection. This can be used to quickly switch back and forth between two commonly watched channels.
Recording and Timeshift
Internal Storage Hard Drive
- For recording Live or Scheduled TV, or using the TimeShift function, the DVB502 has been equipped with an internal SATA M.2 SSD hard drive (256GB).
External USB Storage Drive
- Alternatively, you can insert a suitable USB-A Storage Device. The USB port is CO found on the front of the device. ( Recommended USB Specifications: At least 16GB, NTFS)
Changing Storage Location
- The DVB502 uses the built-in SSD for programme recording by default. If you want to change the programme recording storage location to an external USB memory device, follow the steps below to change the setting:
- Open the Main Menu.
- Navigate to Media Player.
- Select USB Device Information.
- Navigate to USB Disk B (marked in orange when ready);
- Press the Red button to select as a recording device, or press the Green button to select as a TimeShift-only device.
- Note: After successfully selecting a device, the Rec Size and TMS Size information will appear under the selected device.
Recording Live
- To record a programme currently being broadcast:
- Watch the channel live by selecting it in the EPG or typing in the channel number and pressing OK.
- Press the REC button on your remote.
- Wait for a moment while the recording starts.
- A flashing REC symbol will appear on the screen to show the recording has begun.
To Stop a Recording in Progress:
- Press the Square STOP button on your remote.
- A box will appear asking to confirm which channel you wish to stop recording. Press OK to stop the recording or CANCEL to continue.
Scheduling Recordings
- Scheduling Recordings in the EPG
- To schedule a recording for a future broadcast, you can use the EPG.
- Open the EPG with the EPG button
- Navigate with the ARROW buttons to the desired programme
- Press the RED button to schedule a recording
- (Press the RED button again to clear the scheduled recording.)
When a recording is scheduled, this red icon will appear:
- Scheduling Recordings Manually.
- To Schedule a recording for a future time and date you can use the Schedule manager. When watching TV, press the BLUE button to open the schedule list.
- Navigate to an empty scheduling slot and press OK.
Select the following options with the ARROW keys:
- Timer Mode – How often the recording should repeat.
- Timer Service – What action should the timer use?
- Wakeup Channel – Which Channel should the device switch to at the selected time and date?
- Wake-up Date – On which date should the device wake up and perform the service? On Time -At what time should the recording start?
- End Time -At which time should the recording end?
- Once all options are correct, select SAVE at the bottom of the menu.
Cancelling a Scheduled Recording
To cancel a scheduled recording:
- While watching TV, press the BLUE button to open the scheduling menu. Navigate to the scheduled recording you wish to cancel with the ARROW buttons. Switch the Timer Mode to OFF.
- Navigate to SAVE.
- The Slot will now be empty and available for a different schedule or left empty for no recording.
Watching Recordings
- Once a recording is made, you can access it in two ways.
Access Recordings Through the Main Menu
- Open the Main Menu with the MENU button on the remote.
- Navigate to Media Player.
- Select Recordings.
- The Recording list will appear, with a preview window on the right-hand side. Navigate between recordings with the UP and DOWN arrows.
- Press OK to begin playback.
Access Recordings Through the List Button
- Press the RED LIST button on the remote.
- This is a short-cut to the Recording list, with a preview window on the right-hand side.
- Navigate between recordings with the UP and DOWN arrows.
- Press OK to begin playback.
Controlling Recordings
- Use the PLAY/ PAUSE button to play or pause recordings in playback.
- Use the FAST FORWARD and REWIND buttons to scan through the recording. Use the STOP button to cease playback.
- Use the TRACK FORWARD and TRACK BACKWARDS buttons to change the recording being played.
Recording Menu Controls
While on the Recording Menu:
- Use the YELLOW button to delete a recording.
- Use the GREEN button to lock a recording.
- Use the RED button to rename a recording.
Using Timeshift
- Once a USB device is set up, you can use Timeshift functions according to your settings.
Timeshift Settings
To enable and configure Timeshift:
- Open the Main Menu.
- Navigate to Media Player.
- Navigate to PVR Settings.
- PVR Settings Menu Options.
- Timeshift
- Pause – Enable the PAUSE/ PLAY button to trigger timeshift while watching Live TV.
- Off (Disabled) – Disable Timeshift functions entirely.
- Auto (Rewind) – Enable permanent Timeshift, which is always active, even before pressing PLAY/PAUSE. This means you can rewind TV from the point you turned on the device.
Jump
- The Jump setting changes the distance Timeshift is active.
Timeshift to Record
- OFF – Timeshift will enable you to rewind or pause and make recordings from a point you choose.
- ON – Recording during or after a Timeshift will automatically save all of the Timeshift footage onto the front of the recording, and then begin recording Live TV.
Multimedia Player
Accessing Multimedia
- To play Multimedia files, a USB device must be inserted containing suitable file types (See Specifications Table).
- Open the Main Menu.
- Navigate to Media Player.
- Select the type of media you have stored on the USB.
- Navigate in the same way as Recordings.
- For unique controls for each media type, see overleaf.
- Video Menu Controls
- Edit Video Files and Structure.
- Press the BLUE button to edit your video menu. Change names, copy files, delete and create storage folders.
- Press the “2” Button to sort your files by Name, Time or Size.
- Playback Options.
- Press the “3” Button to change the repeat setting.
Video Repeat Logo Glossary:
Repeat Once: The Single Video Will Repeat.
Repeat Folder: The Entire Folder Will Repeat.
Music Menu Controls
Play Complete List
- Press the RED button to play the playlist if created and stored on the USB.
Creating a Playlist
- Press the GREEN button to favourite a song and add it to the playlist.
- All songs added will be saved when you EXIT the menu.
Edit Music Files and Structure
- Press the BLUE button to rename, copy, delete and create folders for music files.
- Press “2” to sort by Name, Time, Size or Favourites.
Playback Options
- Press “3” to change the repeat setting.
Music Repeat Logo Glossary:
Repeat Once: The Single Video Will Repeat
Repeat Folder: The Entire Folder Will Repeat
Repeat Folder Random: The Entire Folder Will Repeat, in a Different Order.
Images Menu Controls
Slideshow Settings
- Press “3” to open the slideshow settings menu.
- Set the slide show duration between I and 9 seconds.
- Set the slide show repetition to ON or OFF.
Edit Image Files and Structure
- Press the BLUE button to edit your image menu. Change names, copy files, delete and create storage folders.
- Press the “2” Button to sort your files by Name, Time or Size.
Multiview Option
- Press the “4” button to display up to 6 images on screen at once in a collage.

Troubleshooting and Customer Support
Re-Scanning/or Channels
- If channels disappear or you face gaps in the EPG you can opt to re-scan for channels like you did in First Time Set Up.
Automatic Re-Scan
- To auto-rescan, open the Main Menu
- Navigate to Channel Search
- Select Auto
- Allow the scan to finish
Manual Re-Scan
- To scan manually for missing channels, open the Main Menu
- Navigate to Channel Search
- Select Manual Search
- Choose to search By Channel or By Frequency
- Please note that Specific Channel and Frequency searching relies on information found on your broadcaster’s website, such as bandwidth and frequency.
- For this reason, an Auto scan is generally recommended.
Formatting a USB Device
- Once a device is inserted, or if you encounter issues with recording, you may have to format the USB storage device.
- Please note: Formatting a USB Stick will remove all data currently on the drive.
- To format an Inserted USB Drive
- Open the Main Menu
- Navigate to “Media Player”
- Navigate to “USB Device Information”
- Press the YELLOW Button on your Remote
- Format the Device to NTFS format
Resetting to Factory Settings
- To reset your device to factory settings and remove all settings/ scanned channels, open the Main Menu
- Navigate to Tools
- Select “Factory Reset”
Warranty and Legal Information
- This product is guaranteed for twelve months from the date of the original purchase.
- In the unlikely event of any defect arising due to faulty materials or workmanship, the unit will be either replaced or repaired free of charge (where possible) during this period.
- An alternative product will be offered in case the product is no longer available or repairable.
- This warranty is subject to the following conditions:

- The product must be correctly installed and operated under the instructions given in the user’s manual.
