For Options: HE-Series, LE-Series, RD-Series
This supplemental manual details the RenewAire Filter Alarm, an optional component for Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs). The filter alarm provides essential remote notification when an ERV filter needs replacement. It functions by measuring the static pressure differential across the filter using an adjustable differential pressure switch, which can be connected to an external alarm or indicator system.
The integrated switch is a single-pole double-throw (SPDT) type. In normal operation (pressure differential below the setpoint), the common terminal connects to the normally closed (NC) contact. When the pressure differential increases beyond the setpoint, the switch reconfigures, connecting the common terminal to the normally open (NO) contact.
The differential pressure switch offers an adjustable range from 0.05" to 2.0". While factory-set at 0.5", RenewAire recommends adjusting the setting after the ERV unit's airflow has been balanced. The adjustment process involves setting the switch to trigger just above the clean filter's pressure drop, followed by calibration for the desired filter loading, typically an additional 0.25" for pleated filters.
Should assistance be required for the ERV or its Filter Alarm Option, RenewAire Customer Service is available. For efficient support, please have your unit configuration code or serial number ready. Contact RenewAire Customer Service at 800-627-4499 or via email at RenewAireSupport@RenewAire.com. RenewAire Customer Service can assist with ERV units and their options but does not provide support for air handling system design engineering issues.
