Safety Instructions

WARNING! 

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK – do not open! To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not open the housing of the device. This device does not contain any controls inside. Repairs should only be carried out by qualified personnel. Improper repairs can pose considerable risks and cause damage to the device.

The lightning flash symbol within a triangle is intended to alert the user that this appliance contains insulated electrical parts that may constitute a risk of electric shock.
 An exclamation point within a triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important information in the operating instructions regarding the appliance. This information relates to the maintenance, repair and operation of the appliance.

• Do not insert any objects into the device. The device has a safety feature; as soon as the CD compartment is opened, the laser switches off automatically. If a foreign object is in the device, this safety feature may be disrupted.
• Place the device on a stable, vibration- free, flat surface.
• The device must not be exposed to excessive heat or direct sunlight and must not be placed directly next to devices or radiators that generate radiation.
  
• The device must not be used in extreme cold.
• The device may only be operated in dry rooms without exception. Do not use the device in rooms next to water, e.g. bathtub, kitchen sink, washbasin, etc.
  
• The device is not suitable for use in tropical countries with high humidity.
• Do not expose the device to dirt or dust.
• Do not subject the device to drops or impacts.
  
• Operate the device as far away as possible from PCs, TVs and microwaves.
• Do not place the device on other electrical appliances.
• Never cover the ventilation openings of the device (e.g. with blankets, curtains, newspapers, etc.). Therefore, never operate the device on a soft surface ( e.g. bed, couch) and do not place blankets or carpets underneath it.
• Objects filled with liquids (vases, glasses, etc.) must not be placed on the device.
• Do not place any burning candles or similar on the device.
• Do not use cleaning agents containing petrol, thinner or antistatic sprays for cleaning. Use a damp cloth.
• Your device is packaged to protect it from transport damage. Packaging is a raw material and can therefore be reused or returned to the raw material cycle.

The CD player is a Class 1 laser product. The device is equipped with a safety system that prevents the escape of dangerous laser beams during normal use. To avoid eye injury, never tamper with or damage the device’s safety system.

Moisture will condense on and in the device if it is brought from a cold to a warm room. The lens system of the CD player can fog up. CD playback will then not be possible until the moisture in the device has evaporated. Wait until the device has adjusted to room temperature before switching it on. Depending on the humidity and room temperature, this can take 2 to 3 hours. Never touch the lens of the laser scanner!

Children: 

• Never let children use or play with electrical devices unsupervised.
• Give children appropriate instructions before operating the appliance.
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries can be life-threatening if swallowed. Therefore, keep the device and the batteries out of the reach of small children. If a battery is swallowed, medical help must be sought immediately.
• Also keep the packaging foil away from children. There is a risk of suffocation.

Power Supply

Battery operation: 

Open the battery compartment (15) on the bottom of the device and insert 2 AA batteries (UM3, LR6) into the battery compartment, observing the marked polarity + / -.
As soon as the battery symbol appears on the display , the batteries must be replaced.

Safety instructions for batteries: 

• If necessary, clean battery and device contacts before inserting.
• Remove used batteries from the device promptly and immediately! Increased risk of leakage!
• If a battery does leak, carefully wipe out the spilled liquid and insert new batteries.
• Always insert batteries according to the specified polarity, otherwise the device may be  damaged.
• Never expose batteries to excessive heat, such as sunlight, fire or the like!
• Never immerse batteries in water.
• Always replace all batteries at the same time.
• Only use batteries of the same brand and type.
• Do not use new and old batteries together.
• Remove batteries from the device if it is not going to be used for a long period of time.
• Used batteries do not belong in household waste. The batteries must be handed in to a collection point for used batteries.
  

USB-C cable with adapter: 

ug the supplied USB-C cable with a suitable power adapter (not included) into the “DC 5 V” input socket (4) and into a properly installed household socket.
This will switch off any batteries that may be inserted.

Turn Device On/Off

To switch on the device, press the POWER ON buttons until the display appears.
To switch the device off again, press the POWER OFF button until the display goes out

Headphone Jack / Volume

Using the supplied earphones: 

You can use the device with the earphones provided (16). Plug the earphones into the headphone jack (6).

Please note: 

•  Reduce the volume before connecting the supplied earphone (16) to the headphone jack (6).
• Excessive volume over a long period of time can cause irreparable hearing damage! Therefore, choose a moderate volume.
• Do not use earphones while driving a car. Doing so will expose you and others to significant danger.

Connecting to a speaker: 

You have the option of playing music via an external speaker. To do this, use a 3.5 mm audio cable (not included) and connect the headphone jack (6) to the AUX input of your external speaker.

Volume control / electronic volume increase: 

Adjust the volume with the control (7).
This device offers you the possibility to increase the set level of maximum volume (not damaging to hearing):

• Press the HI VOL button (8) for more than 2 seconds. “HI VOL” appears on the display and the maximum adjustable volume is increased.
• To reduce the maximum adjustable volume to a lower level, press the HI VOL button (8) again for longer than 2 seconds.

• Any high volume level that may be set will automatically be reset after 20 hours or more of continuous playback.
• Any high volume level you may have set will be automatically reset when you turn off the device or open the CD tray.

Playing a CD

Before using for the first time, remove the transport safety box from the CD compartment.
To prevent dust from entering, the CD tray should generally remain closed when not in use.

1. To insert the CD, open the CD compartment by pressing the lock Slide “OPEN” to the right.
   
2. Hold the CD by the edges and place it on the spindle with the label facing upwards and press gently until it clicks into place.
3. Close the CD tray manually.
4. Make sure that the HOLD/OFF locking switch (5) is switched off (pos. OFF).
   
5. Press the Play/Pause button (3). “—-” flashes on the display while the CD is being read.
6. The total number of tracks and the total playing time of the CD will then appear briefly.
7. contains MP3/WMA tracks , the number of albums (folders) and the total number of tracks will appear on the display.
8. Playback starts automatically with the first track and the current track number and the time that has already elapsed are shown on the display. When playing MP3/WMA tracks, “MP3” appears in the top left of the display.
9. X-BASS bass amplifier: Pressing the “X-BASS” button (8) amplifies the bass tones. If you want to turn the bass amplifier off, press the “XBASS” button (8) again.
   

Break: 

By pressing the Play/Pause button (3) during playback, playback can be temporarily interrupted. The elapsed playing time flashes. Pressing this button again will resume playback.

If playback is not resumed within 90 seconds, the device automatically goes into stop mode.

Stop playback: 

Playback is stopped by pressing the stop button (10). Press the stop button again to switch the device off.

Always press the stop button (10) before opening the CD compartment to avoid damaging the CD.

Resume playback (RESUME) – radio play function: 

to be continued at the same point after it has been stopped (Stop button (10), opening the CD tray) by pressing the Play/ Pause button (3) again

This function is particularly suitable for audio books/audio stories:

• Slide the control (5) to the middle position to activate the resume function. “RESUME” appears on the display.
• Press the Stop button (10) if you want to stop/pause playback at any time.
• If you press the Play/ Pause button (3) again at a later time, playback will continue from the point where it was previously stopped.
• This function remains active even when the device is turned off or the CD tray is opened.
• The function is cancelled when you move the slide control (5) to the “OFF” or “HOLD” position.
  

SKIP/SEARCH function: 

The Skip/Search buttons (11) allow you to go directly to a specific track or a specific point on the CD. This search can be carried out during playback or in stop mode. In stop mode, however, you must then press the Play button (3) to start playback.

Skip

1. Briefly pressing the Skip/Search button will go to the next track. Pressing this button several times will skip to the next track. Please note the display.
2. Pressing the Skip/Search button takes you to the beginning of the current track. Pressing this button several times takes you to previous tracks. Please note the display.

Search:

1. In playback mode, press and hold one of the Skip/Search buttons until you reach the passage on the CD you want.
2. As soon as this button is released, playback will resume.

Selecting an album:

the ALBUM button ▲(9) to go to the next album. Please note the display (“F 01”, “F 02”…).

Playback options : 

By repeatedly pressing the REPEAT button (12) during playback, you can choose from the following playback options – note the display on the edge of the display:

• REP 1 current title is repeated
• ALL all titles are repeated
• INTRO track play function: The first 10 seconds of all tracks are played.
• RDN Random: The tracks on the CD are played in random order.

If you want to delete a selected function, press the “REPEAT” button (12) repeatedly until none of the above-mentioned displays appear on the display.

Title programming (PROG): 

You can save up to 20 tracks in any order. A track can be saved multiple times. Programming must be done in stop mode.

1. Press the program button (12), “P01” appears on the display and the track number display flashes.
2. Use the Skip buttons (11) to select the track you want to save. The track number is shown on the display.
3. Press the program button (12) to save the first track.
4. “P02” appears on the display. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all the desired tracks have been saved.
5. Once you have finished programming, press the Play/Pause button (3) to start playback. “PROG” appears at the top of the display and the track number and the elapsed time of the track are shown.
6. Playback stops automatically when all programmed tracks have been played. However, the programming remains until the CD compartment is opened or the device is switched off (using the stop button).
   

Please note: 

If you want to save more than 20 titles, the first title will be overwritten.

Hold button (HOLD): 

To prevent settings from being changed, e.g. during transport, it is possible to deactivate all function keys using the HOLD button (5). In this case, move the slider (5) to the right. “HOLD” appears in the top right of the display. All buttons are now deactivated, so changing the settings is no longer possible.
To turn the hold function off again, slide the control back to the left position “OFF”. The “HOLD” display goes out.

Digital anti -shock function (ESP): 

This function prevents the CD/MP3 disc from “skipping” if the device is subjected to shocks or vibrations during playback. This enables smooth playback even when you are on the move, e.g. when jogging or in the car.

What does anti-shock function mean? 

• The digital data of the CD is automatically stored in a memory buffer.
• If the CD or CD player is subjected to impacts or other irregularities, playback will continue uninterrupted from this memory.
  
• ESP” is displayed as an indication of the anti-shock function.
• If the impact is too great and the storage capacity is full, the CD will start to “skip” or playback will stop.
• However, if the ESP function is switched on, energy consumption is also higher. The ESP function should therefore only be switched on when it is really necessary.
• In some cases, the anti-shock function may cause interference with music playback. In this case, turn off the anti-shock function.

Organize tracks/albums: 

Since a large number of music tracks can be stored on a CD, we recommend a well-organized storage system in albums.

• Tracks in an album are arranged and played in alphabetical order. If you want a different order, this can be achieved by numbering them (001, 002, 003, …) .
• The albums are also played in alphabetical order.
• If an album is inside another album, they will be played one after the other.
• Albums without content are skipped.
• If there are tracks that have not been saved in an album, they will automatically be saved in the first album.

Maintenance and Care

Treating a CD: 

• To remove a CD from the holder in the cover, press the spindle in the center of the cover and lift the CD up by the edges.
• Hold the CD only by the edges; do not touch the surface of the CD.
  
• If there is dust or other dirt on the surface, use a soft, dry cloth and wipe in a direct direction from the center to the edges. No circular movements!
  
• Never use anti-static sprays, benzine, thinner or record sprays for cleaning. These chemicals can damage the surface of the CD.
  
• Do not stick or write anything on the shiny side of the CD.
  
• Too high a volume can cause “skipping”. In this case, reduce the volume.
• Always keep your CDs in the case provided.
• Do not expose CDs to direct sunlight or extreme heat for long periods of time.

Cleaning the CD player: 

To maintain perfect sound quality, it is necessary to keep the CD compartment free of dirt and dust. Therefore, from time to time, clean the inside of the CD compartment with a dry cotton swab or use a camera lens cleaner (blower). Do not touch the laser!

Cleaning the housing: 

To clean the housing, use a soft, possibly slightly damp cloth. Make sure that no water penetrates the housing.
The device must never be immersed in water or other liquids.
Never use benzine, solvents or other harsh or corrosive cleaning agents.

Notes on Environmental Protection

 At the end of its working life, this product must not be disposed of with normal household waste. Instead, it must be handed over to a collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. The materials are recyclable according to their labeling. By reusing, recycling or other forms of recycling old devices, you are making an important contribution to protecting our environment.

Warranty / Guarantee

In addition to the statutory warranty, we grant a 24-month warranty on this device, calculated from the date of issue of the invoice or delivery bill. Within this warranty period, all manufacturing and/or material defects will be repaired and/or replaced free of charge, or (at our discretion) exchanged for an item of equal value and in perfect condition, on presentation of the invoice or delivery bill. The prerequisite for such a guarantee is that the appliance has been handled and maintained properly. Claims beyond our warranty services are excluded. In justified cases, the guarantee only covers the repair of the appliance. Further claims and liability for any consequential damage are excluded. No guarantee can be given for parts that are subject to natural wear and tear or for damage caused by impact, incorrect operation, exposure to moisture or other external influences or by intervention by unauthorized third parties. In the event of a warranty claim, the appliance must be returned to your specialist dealer together with the invoice or delivery bill.

Warranty: 

The warranty is expressly stipulated by law and only applies to defects that existed at the time the goods were handed over. The claim is always directed against the contractual partner (dealer), who must remedy the defect free of charge (for the consumer) or arrange for it to be remedied.

Guarantee: 

The guarantee is a voluntary, contractual promise by the manufacturer (general importer) for which there are no minimum requirements in terms of content or form. However, many warranties only cover part of the costs incurred in remedying defects, but they usually apply to all defects that occur within a certain period.
