Product description

Shelly Plug US Gen4 (the Device) is a Matter- compatible smart plug/outlet with power measurement and overheating protection, which allows remote control of electric appliances.

The Device comes with factory-installed firmware. To keep it updated and secure, Shelly Europe Ltd. provides the latest firmware updates free of charge. Access the updates through either the embedded web interface or the Shelly Smart Control mobile application. Installation of firmware updates is the user’s responsibility. Shelly Europe Ltd. shall not be liable for any lack of conformity of the Device caused by the failure of the user to install the available updates in a timely manner.

LED indications

When plugged for the first time:

  • Blue light flashing, indicating AP mode.

When plugged/powered again after being successfully connected to a Wi‑Fi network:

Red light flashing, indicating the the Device is reconnecting to the Wi‑Fi network.

When output is On:

Power consumption represented by a smooth color change (Default).

  • User can select the brightness (Default brightness – 100%):
    • Green light at 0% of power limit set
    • Yellow light at 50% of power limit set
    • Red light at 100% of power limit set
  • Custom color (Default color – green, Default brightness – 100%)
  • Off

When output is Off:

  • Off (Default)
  • Custom color (Default color – red, Default brightness – 100%)

When the control button is pressed and held for 3 sec (only when the Device output is Off):

  • Red light flashes three times, indicating the Device is not connected to the Wi‑Fi network.
  • Yellow light flashes three times, indicating the Device is connected to the Wi‑Fi network, but not to Shelly Cloud.
  • Green light flashes three times, indicating the Device is connected to
  • Shelly Cloud.

The LED indication can be disabled from the Device settings.

Control Button

  • Press to turn on/off the plugged appliance.
  • Press and hold for 3 sec to check the Device status*.
  • Press and hold for 5 sec to activate Device AP**.
  • Press and hold for 10 sec to factory reset**.
  • Press 3 times in quick succession to activate Zigbee inclusion mode**.
  • * Only when the output is Off.
  • ** Only within 1 min after plugging/powering the Device.

Installation instructions

CAUTION! Before you plug in an appliance into the Device, make sure that the Device output is turned off.

For security reasons, after you successfully connect the Device to the local Wi-Fi network, we recommend that you disable or password-protect the Device AP (Access Point).
To perform a factory reset of the Device, press and hold the Reset/control button for 10 seconds.
To enable the access point and the Bluetooth connection of the Device, press and hold the Reset/control button for 5 seconds.

  1. Insert Shelly Plug US Gen4 into a power socket without an appliance/load connected to it.
    The LED indication ring will start flashing with a blue light, indicating the Device is in Access Point (AP) mode.
  2. You can now plug an appliance into the Device socket.
  3. To turn the appliance on, press briefly the control button.
    The LED indication ring will illuminate. The light color depends on the load (check LED indication below).
  4. Press the control button again to turn the appliance off.
    The LED indication will return to its previous status.

Embedded web interface
The Device has an embedded web interface which allows you to monitor, control the Device, and adjust its settings. The web interface is accessible at http://192.168.33.1 when connected directly to the Device access point or at its IP address when you and the Device are connected to the same network.

The Device AP name looks like ShellyPlugUSG4-XXXXXXXXXXXX

Shelly Cloud inclusion
The Device can be monitored, controlled, and set up through our Shelly Cloud home automation service. You can use the service through either our Android, iOS, or Harmony OS mobile application or through any internet browser at https://control.shelly.cloud/.
