The motor model is a separate rating-plate field and cannot be recovered from these serial/date formats.
Plant locations are historical code associations from the 2004 manufacturer table; unknown codes remain unresolved. Do not confuse a factory-city area with an exact factory address.
The source confirms11- and13-character formats and a running transition from January 2009. It does not prove that every motor, region or later serial shares this scheme.
The five-character date/plant field omits build day and sequence. The short Melbourne stamp is dispatch timing, not manufacture.
Two-digit years retain an unknown century unless the source era or a supplied decade establishes it. The extended 13-character scheme was announced in 2008 for a 2009 running introduction; this does not make every older code valid in that system.
Research reviewed October 16, 2026. This independent tool applies published rules and retains unresolved years and model candidates.
Submersible motor legacy 11-character date/plant/day/sequence format, documented 2004 and before the 2009 running change.
This system is documented for Franklin Electric submersible motor markings; it is not automatically assigned to pumps, drives or other Franklin group brands. A manufacturing sequence is not the motor model or the quantity produced on that date. The four-digit sequence format was replaced by a five-digit sequence and schedule letter in a running change beginning January 2009; length alone does not prove a hard cutoff. The source gives specific 1999/2000s examples but no universal earliest year; the two-digit year retains an unknown century unless a known decade is supplied.
Motor extended 13-character manufacture serial
Franklin motor extended format announced as a running change from January 2009 in the AID 4/2008 bulletin.
This system is documented for Franklin Electric submersible motor markings; it is not automatically assigned to pumps, drives or other Franklin group brands. A manufacturing sequence is not the motor model or the quantity produced on that date. The manufacturer illustrates the new format with 08F621500250A: 2008, June, plant 62, day 15, sequence 00250, schedule A. That illustrative 2008 example does not establish a pre-January 2009 production rollout. Schedule-letter meaning is not published here.
Motor five-character manufacture date/plant field
Separate five-character motor manufacture date/plant field shown on the 2004 carton label.
This system is documented for Franklin Electric submersible motor markings; it is not automatically assigned to pumps, drives or other Franklin group brands. A manufacturing sequence is not the motor model or the quantity produced on that date. Month is A–M with I omitted. This prefix omits day and build sequence, so those are unavailable. The nearby separately printed numeric motor model must be read independently. The two-digit year does not by itself establish the century; choose a known decade.
Confirm the separately marked motor date code YY+month-letter+two-digit plant; this is not the complete serial.
Melbourne additional month/year dispatch stamp
Additional Melbourne dispatch stamp described in the 2004 manual; source table explicitly maps 1999–2005.
This is the dispatch month/year, not the motor manufacture date. The source gives A03, J04, F05. No plant, model, build date, day or sequence can be inferred from this short stamp. Other years need separate century evidence.
Confirm this is the extra month/year stamp applied when dispatched from Franklin Electric in Melbourne, not the motor manufacture serial.

Franklin Electric lookup questions
Why does the year code match more than one year?
Some systems reuse letters or only encode the last one or two year digits. Every supported interpretation is retained. A decade supplied from reliable records can narrow the reading; the tool does not automatically pick the newest year.
Does the serial identify my exact model?
Usually the model is a separate plate field. Where published serial ranges actually identify a model, the result shows model candidates and links to their manuals. Overlapping ranges remain ambiguous.
Can I share the result?
After a lookup, the address includes the serial in a fragment beginning with #serial=. Use “Copy share link” to share the serial and selected context. Opening the link runs the same lookup. The fragment is not a query-string result page.
