Overview
The Hydro D Tech Monitor detects the presence of water between its two probes. It is installed on the wall, with the sensor unit positioned below it, close to the floor. Complete the following steps to install the Hydro D Tech Monitor.
Account and Notifications Setup
- Scan the provided QR code or navigate to https://dtech.sensortechllc.com/provision.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to start the provisioning timer.
- Use a #1 Phillips screwdriver to remove the clear case top, connect the provided battery, and reattach the top. Tighten it securely with the screwdriver to ensure a watertight seal but avoid over-tightening to prevent cracking.
- Test cellular transmission by quickly rubbing a metal object against the two small screws on the top left side of the case until red AND green LED lights begin flashing. If the transmission is successful, you will be notified via text or email within 2 minutes. If you do not receive a notification after 2 minutes, move the monitor to a higher area with greater cellular strength and repeat Step 4.
Test the Hydro D Tech
The Hydro D Tech registers conductivity between the sensor’s two probes. If conductivity is detected for approximately 7 seconds, the unit confirms the presence of water, activates, and initiates transmission. You can test this functionality by touching both probes with the same piece of metal for 8-10 seconds. The monitor will transmit a report to the data center indicating the presence of water. Once the metal is removed from the probes, it will subsequently report that the area is dry. The type of notification you receive – via text, email, or both, will depend on how the monitor has been provisioned.
Install the Hydro D Tech
Depending on your location, the Hydro D Tech can be installed directly onto the wall studs or drywall.
Wall Stud Installation
- Using the provided 1” wood screws, attach the Hydro D Tech case onto the wooden stud.
- Using the provided 3/4” wood screws, attach the sensor case near the base of the wall, ensuring a small gap, roughly equivalent to the thickness of a credit card, is maintained between the sensor prongs and the floor
Drywall Installation
- Place the Hydro D Tech case against the wall.
- Mark the center of each mounting hole using a pencil or pen.
- Remove the case from the wall and drill a 3/16” hole on each marking.
- Insert a drywall anchor into each drilled hole.
- Using the provided 1” wood screws, attach the Hydro D Tech case to the wall via the drywall anchors.
- Using the provided 3/4” wood screws, attach the sensor case near the base of the wall, ensuring a small gap, roughly equivalent to the thickness of a credit card, is maintained between the sensor prongs and the floor.
Congratulations! Your device has been successfully installed.
