Congratulations on choosing the Scanmarker Exam for assistance while reading or language learning. This manual guides effectively utilizing the pen for text scanning and reading, along with instructions on leveraging its myriad functions and features.

Start Scanning Text & Reading Live
We recommend charging your Scanmarker Exam for 30 minutes before using it.
- Power On/Off: Press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds.
- To restart the pen: When the pen is on, long-press the on/off button for 3 sec, then choose the “reboot” icon on the screen.
How to Scan
- The Scanmarker Exam pen is designed to scan a single text line at a time.
- The line you would like to scan should be centered between the two black nibs located at the front end of the pen.
- Press the tip down to start scanning, and the white scan light will illuminate the front of the pen.
- Maintain a consistent and steady movement, ensuring the pen travels straight along the text line. Avoid pausing or rotating the pen, and ensure the text line remains between the two nibs.
Holding Your Pen
Hold your scanner at a 45-80 degree angle.
Connect to Bluetooth Earbuds/Headphones (optional)
- Navigate to “Settings”, then “Bluetooth”.
- Turn on Bluetooth and view the available devices to connect to.
- Tap on the device you would like to pair with and the message “successfully connected” should appear.
Connect to Wi-Fi (to access additional languages & features)
Access Settings> Wi-Fi and enable it. Select the appropriate Wi-Fi network and enter the password. Once connected, a Wi-Fi icon will appear in the top right corner. This device connects to networks of 2.4 GHZ only. The pen will automatically reconnect to the same Wi-Fi network in subsequent uses.
Main Functions
Read Aloud
The Scanmarker Exam Pen can scan text and read it aloud sentence by sentence or by selected word.
- Reading in multiple languages: The reading function supports 5 languages offline: English, Spanish, Italian, French, and German. When connected to Wi-Fi, it can read up to 50 languages.
- Choose ‘Sentence’ or ‘Word’ mode depending on whether you want to read full sentences or single-selected words.
Customizable Settings:
Tap the settings icon to customize the scanning and reading settings.
Adding Mode
- Append (Default): Adds new scanned text to the existing text on the screen.
- Replace: Replace the previously sscannedtext with the new text. Refer here also to change the speed, scanning language ,and voices.
Translate
- Scan text and translate offline in 5 languages and online in 101 languages. Listen to the original scan or the translation.
- Tap the settings icon to select the correct languages.
Speak
- Voice-to-text and translation function. This feature is only available when connected to Wi-Fi.
- Tap on the voice icon on the left to speak, and release when finished talking. Tap on the settings icon in the top-right corner to choose the scanning and translation languages.
Settings
- Connect to Wi-Fi (2.4GHzZ), Bluetooth for connecting wireless earbuds, volume, brightness, date and time, standby time, automatic shutdown, interface language, software updates, version, restore settings, reading speed, multiline, and pen direction (right/left hand).
Upgrading
While connected to Wi-Fi, navigate to “Settings,” then “Upgrade” and verify for any available updates. To check updates with our team or request a new update to be delivered to your pen, kindly scan the QR code positioned on the pen to transmit the device’s serial number (SN) to us, or locate the SN number in the “About” section.
USB Charging
Please use the provided USB cable or another type C cable, connected to the charging adaptor DC5V 1A-3A.
Safety
You can clean the pen with a soft, slightly wet cloth, but avoid corrosive materials. Water, oil, or any other liquid can penetrate the pen head and USB port. Warning /Electrical Safety: Scanmarker Pro is battery-operated and requires charging, avoid water exposure to prevent electric shock.
