Update Notes

  • Once updated, the controller is able to act as a wired controller when using a compatible data cable connected from the controller to the console.
  • The controller will continue to charge while in wired mode.
  • For PC consoles, it will act as an X-Input controller by default.
  • No macros are accessible as those are programmed onto the receivers, not the controller.
  • Once active in wired mode on a compatible console, this will lock out the ability to pair to other receivers. If you wish to game wirelessly while charging, change the power source to a non-console and it will charge-and-play as a wireless controller.
  • For Nintendo Switch, be sure “Pro Wired Controller Communication” is enabled in the Controller Settings.
  • While wired, you will experience near lag-free inputs.

Origin8 V2 Wireless Controller Firmware – Version 1.1
Please carefully read the following instructions before proceeding with the installation.

Installation

  1. You will need to get a thin, hard tool – either an unbent paper clip or a smartphone prying tool in order to proceed.
  2. With the controller connected to a Windows PC, you will need to use the thin tool to push into the hole in the back of the controller and press and hold Start at the same time until the blinking light(s) go dark – it is now in update mode.
    a. The controller’s back reset button is small and does not require too much force to push it in – be careful not to use too much force.
    b. On controllers that have the 4 LEDs, LED1 or LED1 and 2 will remain on and then shut off.
  3. Open the firmware program BxUsbUpdate_V1.02, select the Device (the controller will appear as a long line of alphanumeric numbers), and then select the firmware file Retro-Bit Origin8 Wireless to Wired_July2024 from the other drop-down selection.
  4. Select “Download” and allow your controller to update.
  5. Once complete, your PC should detect a new controller.
  6. To be sure, you can check its functionality using the Gamepad Tester website.

Troubleshooting

The controller is not detected by the updater program.

  • Be sure you are using a data cable, not a charge cable.
  • Be sure no firewalls, antivirus software, or other software is active.
  • The controller is not compatible with the update – it is not a V2 controller.

After updating, the controller is encountering problems.

  • You may press the Reset button on the back of the controller to set it back to factory settings.
  • If you wish, you can install the firmware again at a later date.
