Product Usage Instructions:

Installation:

  1. Select a location:
    • Place the timer indoors near a 120 VAC outlet.
  2. Mount timer to wall:
    • Place the mounting bracket at eye level on a wall or stud.
    • Attach to the wall using screws. Use molly bolts on drywall.
    • Place the timer over the mounting bracket and lock it by engaging tabs into recessed slots.
  3. Wire the valves:
    • Use 18 ga. plastic jacketed wire.
    • Run one common wire to each valve.
    • Connect valve wires to the timer terminals accordingly.
  4. Connect the transformer:
    • Bring the transformer wires through the small wiring hole.
    • Connect the wires to the terminals marked AC.
    • Plug in the transformer.
  5. Battery back-up:
    • Plug a 9-volt battery into the battery clip.
    • Place the battery on the bottom left side and replace the panel.
    • Note: Replace the battery annually to maintain the timer’s program for 24 hours in case of power loss.

Programming Instructions:

  • Set Current Time: Press CLOCK, then HRS & MIN, Press CLOCK again.
  • Set Watering Start Time: Press START, then HRS & MIN, Press CLOCK again.

Special Functions:

  • To Water Manually: Press MAN once to water all Zones in sequence.
  • To Water Selected Zones Manually: Press ZONE until desired Zone is displayed, then press MAN.

Installation

Step 1: Select a location

  • A. Place the timer in an indoor location near a 120 VAC outlet. CAUTION: Do not use a switched outlet, or on the same circuit with a high-power use appliance (refrigerator, air conditioner, garage door opener, etc.)
  • Do not expose the timer to temperatures exceeding 120°F (49°C).

Step 2: Mount timer to wall

  • A. Place mounting bracket at eye level on wall or stud.
  • B. Attach to the wall with screws. Use molly bolts on drywall.
  • C. Place the timer over the mounting bracket, engaging tabs into recessed slots in the back of the timer. Pull down to lock.

Step 3: Wire the valves

  • A. Use 18 ga. plastic jacketed wire (available at your dealer in 2-8 color-coded wires).
  • B. Run one common wire (all the same color) to each valve.
  • C. Use wire nuts or solder and seal valve connections with vinyl cement.

CAUTION: Do not connect more than one valve to each Zone. Do not use valves that exceed max. output holding current (0.28 amps).

Step 4: Connect valve wires to the timer

  • A. Bring wires through the large hole in the bottom of the timer case.
  • B. Connect the wire from valve #l to terminal 1, valve #2 to terminal 2, etc.
  • C. Connect the common wire to the terminal marked C.

Step 5: Connect the transformer

  • A. Bring the transformer wires up through the small wiring hole.
  • B. Connect the wires to the terminals marked “AC”.
  • C. Plug in the transformer. CAUTION: Use with the supplied transformer only!

Step 6: Battery back-up

  • A. Plug a 9 volt battery (not supplied) into the battery clip.
  • B. Place battery on the bottom left side and replace panel.
  • Note: The battery will maintain the timer’s program for 24 hrs. in case of power loss. Replace once a year.
  • Voltage: 24VAC Output: .28 Amp

PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS

To Set Current Time:

  • Press CLOCK, then HRS & MIN., Press CLOCK again.
  • Note: Check (A=am P=pm)
  • To Set Watering Start Time: (1 Start time only)
  • Press START, then HRS & MIN, Press CLOCK again.
  • Note: Check (A=am P=pm)

To Set Watering Run Time:

  • Press ZONE (Zone #l displayed and run time of:05 min). Press HRS or MIN until the desired run time is displayed (C-99 min. per Zone). Repeat for the remaining Zones.
  • Program any unused Zones to OFF (00=OFF) .Press CLOCK again.

To Set How Often to Water:

  • Press DAY, then MIN repeatedly until the desired interval is displayed (once per day through once per week). 1 = watering every day, 2 = watering every other day, 3 = watering every third day, etc. Press CLOCK again.

SPECIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. To Water Manually:
    • Press MAN once to water all Zones in sequence.
  2. To Water Selected Zones Manually:
    • Press ZONE until the desired Zone is displayed, then press MAN.
  3. To Turn Off System “Rain”:
    • Press RAIN (“R” will be displayed).
    • Press CLOCK to resume auto mode.
  4. If “F” is displayed, a short circuit has occurred in a solenoid or wire connection. The Remaining Zones will be watered. (Check valve, wiring, etc.).

WARRANTY

TWO-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

RainJet warrants to the purchaser of its products for a period of two (2) years from the date of original purchase that any defective product proved to be caused by faulty workmanship or faulty materials, when installed per instructions and used in a normal manner, will be repaired or replaced at RainJet’s option at no charge, providing the product is received at the RainJet factory or authorized factory service center, with al transportation charges prepaid within two years of the date of original purchase.

  • This warranty does not apply to damages or malfunctions resulting from accidents, misuse or neglect. RainJet will not pay labor or other costs of removal or reinstallation of any so-called defective products.
  • NO IMPLIED WARRANTIES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO) FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, WHERE APPLICABLE, AND MERCHANTABILITY SHALL EXTEND BEYOND THE PERIOD OF THE EXPRESS WARRANTY DESCRIBED ABOVE. Q: What should I do if 'F' is displayed on the timer?

A: If 'F' is displayed, it indicates a short circuit has occurred in a solenoid or wire connection. Check the valve, wiring, etc. Remaining Zones will water as usual.
