To check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) using the XTM Auto Diagnostic Scanner, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Locate the vehicle's 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC).
3. Plug the scan tool cable connector into the vehicle's DLC.
4. Turn the ignition on. The engine can be off or running.
5. Press ENTER to enter the Main Menu and use the UP/DOWN button to select diagnostics from the menu.
6. Select "Read Codes" and press ENTER. If there are any codes, the screen will display them.
7. To view different items, press UP or DOWN and press ENTER to confirm.
8. After viewing all the codes, press EXIT to return to the previous menu.
If codes are found, it's important to note the following:
- Erasing the fault code will not correct the fault. Any faults should be investigated by a qualified automotive specialist.
- Before clearing the codes, retrieve and record them for reference.
- After clearing, retrieve the fault codes again. If codes persist, troubleshoot using a factory diagnosis guide.
For an I/M Readiness test:
1. Select "I/M Readiness" from the Main Menu and press ENTER.
2. The screen will display different components like Misfire, Fuel System, and Comprehensive Component.
3. Use the UP or DOWN button to select and press ENTER.
4. N/A means not available, INC means incomplete, and OK means completed or monitor OK.
By following these steps, users can easily check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes and perform an I/M Readiness test using the XTM Auto Diagnostic Scanner.
