How can I reset or remap my console controllers if the button inputs are incorrect and the start button is not working?
I just received my Console. But the Controllers are not alright.
if I press A the Console thinks im pressing y
if I Move up the Console thinks im pressing left and so on.
is there a way to Reset the controlls without actually using the controlls? There might be no start Button programmed

Context
Troubleshooting a console controller with mismapped inputs where the A button registers as Y and directional inputs are rotated, while lacking a functional start button to access menus.
Since the specific console model was not provided, here are the general steps to resolve controller mapping issues when the physical buttons are not responding correctly:
- Check for a Physical Reset Button: Many third-party and modern controllers have a small pinhole on the back. Insert a paperclip for 5-10 seconds to perform a hardware reset.
- Wired Connection: If you are using a wireless controller, plug it directly into the console using a USB cable. This can sometimes force the console to resync the default button profile.
- System Settings via Alternative Input: If you have a USB keyboard or a different working controller, plug it into the console. Navigate to Settings > Controllers and Sensors (or similar) to check for "Button Mapping" or "Calibration" settings to reset them to factory defaults.
- Mode Switching: Some controllers have different modes (e.g., X-input vs. D-input). Try holding down the Home or Mode button for several seconds to see if the input behavior changes.
- Firmware Update: Connect the controller to a PC (if applicable) to see if there is a firmware update tool from the manufacturer that can recalibrate the inputs.
If these steps do not work, please provide the brand and model of the console or controller for more specific instructions.
