This guide provides essential information for installing and setting up your Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC LR wireless access point.

The UniFi AP AC LR features several key components:

Hardware Installation

The UniFi AP AC LR can be mounted on a wall or a ceiling. Follow the steps below for the appropriate installation method.

Wall Mount

  1. Prepare Mounting Location: Place the mounting bracket on the wall at the desired location and mark the screw hole positions.
  2. Drill Holes: Drill 6 mm holes at the marked locations.
  3. Insert Anchors: Insert the provided screw anchors into the drilled holes.
  4. Secure Bracket: Use the provided screws to attach the mounting bracket to the wall.
  5. Attach UniFi AP: Align the UniFi AP with the mounting bracket and twist it clockwise to secure it.
  6. Connect Ethernet Cable: Connect the Ethernet cable to the UniFi AP's Ethernet port.
  7. Final Check: Ensure the UniFi AP is securely attached to the bracket, indicated by a lock symbol.

Ceiling Mount

  1. Prepare Mounting Location: Position the mounting bracket onto a standard ceiling tile.
  2. Mark and Drill Holes: Mark the screw hole positions and drill 18 mm holes through the ceiling tile for the Ethernet cable.
  3. Insert Anchors: Insert the provided screw anchors into the drilled holes.
  4. Secure Bracket: Use the provided screws to attach the mounting bracket to the ceiling tile.
  5. Attach UniFi AP: Align the UniFi AP with the mounting bracket and twist it clockwise to secure it.
  6. Connect Ethernet Cable: Connect the Ethernet cable to the UniFi AP's Ethernet port.
  7. Final Check: Ensure the UniFi AP is securely attached to the bracket, indicated by a lock symbol.
  8. Mount AP: The UniFi AP is now mounted to the ceiling.

Powering the UniFi AP

The UniFi AP AC LR can be powered using either a UniFi Switch with PoE or a Gigabit PoE adapter.

Connecting to a UniFi Switch with PoE

Connect the Ethernet cable from the UniFi AP directly to a PoE-enabled port on your UniFi Switch.

Connecting to the PoE Adapter

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable from the UniFi AP to the 'PoE' port of the PoE adapter.
  2. Connect an Ethernet cable from your local area network (LAN) to the 'LAN' port of the PoE adapter.
  3. Connect the provided Power Cord to the PoE adapter and plug it into a power outlet.

Mounting the PoE Adapter (Optional)

  1. Remove the PoE Mounting Bracket from the adapter.
  2. Place the bracket at the desired location and mark the positions for the two mounting holes.
  3. Pre-drill holes if necessary and secure the bracket using two fasteners (not included).
  4. Align the adapter's slots with the tabs on the PoE Mounting Bracket and slide the adapter down to secure it.

Software Installation

To configure and manage your UniFi AP, you need to install the UniFi Controller software.

  1. Download the latest version of the UniFi Controller software from ui.com/download/unifi.
  2. Install the software and follow the on-screen instructions. Detailed step-by-step instructions are also available in the UniFi User Guide.
  3. After installation, launch the UniFi Installation Wizard. A login screen will appear for the UniFi Controller management interface.
  4. Enter the username and password you created during setup and click 'Sign In'.

The UniFi Controller interface allows you to manage your wireless network, view network statistics, and configure settings. For comprehensive usage details, refer to the UniFi User Guide.

Mobile App Installation

Ubiquiti also offers the UniFi mobile app, available on the App Store® (iOS) and Google Play™ Store (Android). This app enables basic provisioning of UniFi APs without a UniFi Controller and provides seamless provisioning for remote controllers, as well as easy access to local controllers and those monitored on uni.ui.com.

    • c. Contact a qualified electrician or the manufacturer if you have questions regarding installation before connecting the equipment.
    • d. Protective earthing is provided by the Listed AC adapter. Building installation must provide appropriate short-circuit backup protection.
    • e. Protective bonding must be installed in accordance with local national wiring rules and regulations.
